Grosvenor Casino, Poker, and Sportsbook Review

Are you interested in Grosvenor Casino? We wouldn’t blame you if you are.

We were excited to review them because they’re not quite like the other online casinos you’ll find on our site. What’s most unique about them is that they’re one of the few companies to run both an offline and online gambling business.

In fact, they run more than 150 land-based venues. How many online gambling companies do you know of that can say that?

What’s more is that these guys have been in business for over eighty years. Unlike so many other online casinos, it’s almost hard not to trust these guys. Because there’s no way you stay in business that long if you’re not treating your customers right.

That’s why we were so eager to see what they have in store for our players. And many aspects of their online casino, poker room, and sportsbook met our expectations.

However, not everything about them was up to par. We do have a few complaints we’ll share with you later on in the review. It’s important to us that we share these negatives with you. That way, you can make an educated and unbiased decision as to where you spend your hard-earned money.

With that in mind, let’s get into the review.

Basic Information

Grosvenor Casino is owned by the Rank Group Casinos brand. The online arm of their business has been going since 2007, so about a decade now.

The offline aspect of their business has been running much, much longer. They’ve operated their offline gambling business for more than eighty years. They currently operate more than 150 offline venues (over nineteen online). And they have more than ten thousand employees to service their nearly three million customers.

They’ve won a few awards, too.

More recently, they won the Casino Operator of the Year award at the 2013 International Gaming Awards.

They’ve also won the Socially Responsible Operator of the Year (Land-Based) in both 2014 and 2015.

These are important awards because they’re customer-centric. They’re given to operators who provide excellent service and games to their customers. The Socially Responsible award is given to casinos who go out of their way to protect their players, namely from problem gambling.

There’s no doubt that you’re in good hands at Grosvenor Casino.

So I guess the question here is: who CAN play?

Only players from Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland, and Gibraltar can play here for real money.

The Casino

Let’s start the meat of our review with Grosvenor’s casino.

We were excited to check their casino out because we noticed they worked with several software companies. That includes heavy hitters like Microgaming and NetEnt. This usually means the casino will have hundreds, if not thousands, of games. And there will be a good selection of games in ALL categories.

That doesn’t appear to be the case here. Grosvenor didn’t have the number of table and video poker games we’d expect them to.

It’s possible it’s a location thing. Maybe some of their games were hidden from us because of where we were reviewing their casino from.

It’s unlikely, though. We reviewed them from the UK. There’s no reason (we can think of) for them not to offer a similar selection to what you’ll find at other UK-focused casinos.

This means we can’t say they’re the best casino, much less a top choice for video poker and table game players.

That’s not to say the entire casino isn’t worth checking out, though. That’s not the case at all.

They do have a decent slots section. And their live dealer selection fills in some of the gaps missing in their table games section.

Is it enough, though?

That’s something you’ll have to decide for yourself once you read through our casino review below.

Table Games

Let’s start with their table games. As we said above, Grosvenor doesn’t have a large table game section. Here are the games you’ll find:

  • Roulette
  • Classic Roulette
  • Blackjack
  • European Roulette
  • Blackjack Perfect Pairs
  • Classic Blackjack
  • 3 Card Brag

It’s surprising that they have so few games. Disappointing, too. No doubt they have more table games offline than online.

Now, there are other table games to play, but those are their live dealer games. We’ll talk about those in just a second.

As for graphics and game layout, we couldn’t check this out. They encouraged us to create an account and claim their free £20 offer. We were able to create an account, but we couldn’t claim the offer because we were actually reviewing the site from the United States.

We went back to double-check that there was absolutely no way to play/see their games for free. Unfortunately, our account was closed.

We can tell you a bit about their stakes; they’re listed on some of their game-specific pages. Limits will vary from £1 to £10,000. We couldn’t find out what their roulette stakes are. But based on our experience, we’d imagine you can play for more than £10,000. It’s pretty standard for roulette stakes to be higher.

For mobile players, it looks like Grosvenor has both a mobile casino and native app. They have a native app for iOS and Android users. We provide the links for both toward the end of our review.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t check out their mobile games, since we reviewed their site from the United States. We weren’t able to log in using the account we created via our desktop VPN.

But we do have experience with these software providers. So we’re confident that our readers will enjoy the graphics on all the games at Grosvenor Casino.

Video Poker

Here are the video poker games you’ll find at Grosvenor Casino:

  • Jacks or Better
  • Ultimate X Ten
  • Ten Play Draw Poker

And… that’s it.

Again, it’s surprising how few video poker machines they have. You might find more if you’re playing from a different location. We wouldn’t hold our breaths, though.

On the upside, their video poker games offer a multi-hand variant. You can play up to one hundred hands simultaneously.

This adds a little excitement to an otherwise underwhelming video poker section.

Slots

Grosvenor Casino may be lacking in the table and video poker game department. However, what they do have in abundance are slot machines.

They get their slots from top software developers such as:

  • Microgaming
  • NetEnt
  • Evolution Gaming
  • Betsoft
  • NYX Interactive
  • Play’n GO
  • StakeLogic
  • PariPlay
  • Quickspin
  • Playson
  • Endorphina
  • Booming Games
  • Genii

All these developers mean a diverse selection of slot titles to choose from. Here are some examples of slot machines you’ll find at Grosvenor Casino:

  • Jimi Hendrix
  • Spinderella
  • Crystal Clear
  • Toy Factory
  • Clockwork Oranges
  • The Glass Slipper
  • Money Matrix
  • Motorhead
  • Wheel of Fortune
  • Golden Jungle
  • KISS
  • Thunderstruck
  • Dragon’s Wildfire
  • Frantic and the MonsterSpins
  • Lucky Wizard
  • Super Hot 7’s
  • Valhalla
  • Bonanza
  • Ted
  • King Kong Cash
  • Deal or No Deal
  • Jingle Bells
  • Elephant King
  • Zeus: God of Thunder
  • Tetris Super Jackpots
  • Mighty Black Knight
  • Panda Pow
  • Dancing Dragon
  • Gems Gone Wild
  • Wild Bandits
  • King of Atlantis
  • Epic Journey
  • The Wild Life
  • Wild Wild Chest
  • 300 Shields
  • Zeus
  • Diamond Jackpots
  • Oliver Twist
  • Starburst
  • And more!

You see what we mean? There are all sorts of slot themes, too. For example, you can play slots revolving around Roman times, outer space, sci-fi, animals, money, and more.

Grosvenor also has several licensed titles not in the list above. For example, they have Clue, Austin Powers, Game of Thrones, and more. If you’re a fan of these games, movies, and TV shows, you’re bound to like playing here.

We also noticed that they offer Mega Moolah. This slot offers a massive progressive jackpot that’s paid out millions in winnings over the years.

Ultimately, we think our readers will enjoy their slots. If you’re not sure, you can play them for free. You will need to create an account first, though.

Live Dealer Games

While we were unimpressed with their table game selection, we feel like their live dealer game selection does a pretty good job of filling in the gaps.

Here are some of the live dealer titles you’ll find at Grosvenor Casino:

  • Grosvenor Victoria Roulette
  • Immersive Roulette
  • Live Blackjack
  • Live Hold’em
  • Baccarat Squeeze
  • Baccarat
  • 3 Card Poker
  • Caribbean Stud
  • Ultimate Texas Hold’em
  • French Roulette
  • Roulette HD
  • American Roulette
  • Speed Roulette
  • Double Ball Roulette
  • And more!

It doesn’t make up for not having more virtual table games, but you will find a few games you couldn’t otherwise play.

The stakes are reasonable, too, though you won’t find a live dealer table game as low as £1. You can find blackjack tables for as little as £3, though. Their max limits are in the couple-hundred-dollar range on up to about £2,500. If you play roulette, you can play for as much as £100,000.

Once again, we were unable to check out their casino from our phone. We couldn’t see what their live dealer games looked like. However, we do know they offer them; they’re listed on their mobile site. They also have an iPhone app.

Poker

Next up, Grosvenor’s poker room. They have an instant-play poker room you access from your browser. You can also download their poker software to your computer.

For this review, we used the instant-play poker room. Keep in mind that there may be a few differences between the two options.

With that in mind, let’s get to it.

Software and Traffic

Grosvenor uses Microgaming poker software. This also means they’re on the MPN (Microgaming Poker Network). This is both good and bad.

The bad news first. The MPN is seventeenth in traffic worldwide. That’s right; there are US poker sites that have more traffic than them.

The good news. Since the MPN is a network, many sites contribute to the traffic pool. They’d have far fewer players if they were an independent network.

The bottom line – if you’re a pro, this isn’t the poker room for you. There simply isn’t enough volume. However, if you like to play for fun and/or for low-to-medium stakes, then you might be interested in the games and stakes Grosvenor Poker has to offer.

Cash Games

Cash game players will have the option to play Texas hold’em or Omaha. Stakes start at £0.01/£0.02 and peak at £50/£100.

For variants, you can choose from anonymous, regular, deep stack, and turbo tables. You’ll also find heads-up, 6-max, and full ring games.

Anonymous tables are interesting because your screen name isn’t used at the table. Instead, you’re identified by a number or some other marker. This creates a more even playing field, since no one can take long-term notes on you or track you between sessions.

Grosvenor also offers a fast-fold poker variant they call Blaze. With fast-fold poker games, you’re part of a pool of players. Once you buy in, you’re seated and are dealt cards.

What’s unique about this variant is that, when or if you want to fold your hand, you don’t have to wait until it’s your turn to do so.

You can fold any time you want. Once you fold, Grosvenor will immediately seat you at a new table with a new group of players from the player pool. You’ll also get a new hand to play.

This variant can double to quadruple the number of hands you play per hour. If you’re an action-oriented player, or if you find that you get bored a lot, this may be the cash game for you.

In fact, the Blaze tables were some of the most active tables when we reviewed them.

Tournaments and SNGs

Tournament players will have their fair share of games to choose from, too. For example, here are some of the tourneys that were scheduled when we reviewed them:

  • $50 6-Max Freezeout
  • $100 Monster Mania
  • $200 Max Damage w/rebuys
  • $150 Joy of Six-Max
  • $4,000 Big Foot
  • The Classic Event #1 – $48 + Main Event
  • MPNPT Bratislava Package (Live Event)
  • 25/25 Super Satellite R/A (ten seats awarded)

And more.

Grosvenor has their own UK Poker Tour, too. You can see the schedule here. There are eight legs, and then a final tournament that has a £400,000 guaranteed jackpot.

Buy-ins range from £0.55 to £1,110. But MOST of their tournaments are £30 and under. You’ll also find several satellites and step tourneys to their larger events. That includes seats to the GUKPT.

We think it’s great that they have so many lower-buy-in tournaments. It’s a great way to get your feet wet and build a bankroll.

There’s also some value if you know where to look.

For example, there were several tournaments that offered late registration, yet only had ten to fifteen players. Some of these even had guaranteed prize pools, which can offer lots of value to players with an average skill set.

The tournament overlay may very well be reason enough to check their poker room out.

Unfortunately, their SNG selection was less impressive. When we reviewed them, they had one or two dozen games with a couple of players sitting at each one. They were waiting for enough players to join so the games could start.

This is unfortunate, because SNGs are such a great way to build your bankroll. Since this poker room seems to cater to beginners and low-stakes players, you’d think their SNGs would be busy.

The (SNG) stakes you can play for range from £0.01 to £1,050. They have heads-up tables, six max, full ring, and multi-table tourneys. The types of tourneys you can play include standard, special, satellite, private, super turbo, turbo, and flip.

And… that’s about it.

Their poker room looks neat. Many of our resident poker players would even check them out IF they had enough volume. Traffic is one of the most important things a poker room needs.

Unfortunately, it’s the area Grosvenor Poker struggles with the most.

The Sportsbook

Grosvenor Casino also offers a sportsbook. It looks like it may be a recent addition, as their sportsbook tab says “new” on it.

You wouldn’t know it by looking at the list of sports they offer action on.

  • Horse Racing
  • Football
  • Tennis
  • Cricket
  • Golf
  • Darts
  • Rugby Union
  • Rugby League
  • American Football
  • Basketball
  • Greyhounds
  • Boxing
  • UFC/MMA
  • Australian Rules
  • Badminton
  • Bandy
  • Baseball
  • Chess
  • Cycling
  • Cyclo-Cross
  • Esports
  • Floorball
  • Handball
  • Ice Hockey
  • Motorsports
  • Netball
  • Pesapallo
  • Politics
  • Snooker
  • Trotting
  • TV and Novelty
  • Volleyball
  • Winter Olympic Games
  • Winter Sports
  • WWE/Pro Wrestling

You’ll find the majority of their markets in their football/soccer (45,091), basketball (4,442), and ice hockey (4,248) sections. However, keep in mind that this will depend on the season.

They offer live betting, too. It’s limited, though. When we were there, they had some live cricket, basketball, ice hockey, and tennis options. But it’s a good start.

Their sportsbook doesn’t have many noteworthy features. You can choose which odds format you bet in: fractional, American, or decimal. This is pretty standard, though. They also offer stats for a variety of sports, leagues, teams, etc. You can use this information to make better betting decisions.

That’s about it.

They’ve done a good job of organizing their sportsbook. Navigating it is simple: just click the button on the left-hand side and choose from the list of sports in the menu. All your account settings, betting history, and offers are here, too.

Their site is mobile friendly, too. It mirrors their desktop sportsbook in terms of design and the menu. This is good news, as their sportsbook is the one thing they don’t offer a native app for.

All in all, Grosvenor has done a good job so far.

Esports

Esports’ popularity has blown up lately. For that reason, we wanted to highlight Grosvenor’s esports betting section.

We found more than seventy markets to bet on, which include the following games and leagues:

  • DOTA 2
  • Heroes of the Storm
  • League of Legends
  • Overwatch
  • Bucharest Major
  • StarLadder i-League
  • Global Championship
  • LCS EU
  • LCS NA
  • OPL
  • Tencent Pro League
  • OWL

It’s possible they cover other games, but don’t list them unless there are current events to bet on.

It looks like they may offer live betting (since they have a tab that says Live and Upcoming). But there weren’t any matches going when we reviewed, so we’re not 100% certain on that.

As far as bets go, it looks like you can make outright bets…and that’s about it.

They don’t offer any other features or perks, such as live streams. Not at the moment, at least. That’s okay, though. Because when you consider that many sportsbooks don’t cover esports at all, the fact that Grosvenor has anything gives them brownie points.

It’s very possible they will add more betting options and features in the future, too. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Banking Options

Here’s what you need to know about Grosvenor Casino’s banking options.

Deposits

You can use the following options to fund your account:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • PayPal
  • Skrill
  • Neteller
  • Paysafecard

Keep in mind that the options may vary based on your location. We’ve seen other sources say that they also accept checks, Solo, Ukah, Switch, and bank wires.

It’s going to come down to where you’re playing from.

The least you can deposit is £5. We didn’t see a max deposit limit posted, but other sources say you can deposit as much as £50,000.

Withdrawals

You can use the same options mentioned above to cash out your winnings. Cash-out limits range from £1 to £100,000, depending on the method. Cash-outs will take from one to seven days to process.

As for fees, they mention in their terms that they reserve the right to charge a fee of no more than £5 for bank wire transfers.

Considering that many gambling sites charge upwards of £30+ for a bank wire (and that’s on top of the £25+ your bank may charge you), this is a heck of a deal.

Bonus Promotions

Let’s talk promotions.

Grosvenor Casino has promotions for their casino, sportsbook, and poker room. We’re going to look at the evergreen offers available for each product below.

Casino

Here are the promotions available to casino players:

  • Welcome Bonus – Deposit at least £20 and you’ll receive an additional £20 to play with. This is a relatively small bonus.

Fortunately, they have another welcome offer and several live casino offers you can also claim.

  • No-Deposit Welcome Bonus – This offer is available to any of their UK members. All you need to do is create an account, and you’ll receive £20. No deposit is necessary.
  • Live Casino Host – There are several live promos running. Each one runs on a different day of the month. Here are some of the promos you can expect to find:
  • Mystery Card – The live host will choose a random card. You’ll be rewarded with a prize every time the matching card is dealt on the player’s box. If it lands on the dealer, everyone at the table will win the prize.
  • Catch the Flush – When the host visits your table, they may activate the Catch the Flush bonus. During this fifteen-minute window, if you receive three, four, or five cards of the same suit, you’ll receive an instant £5, £10, or £20 bonus.
  • Bonus Cards – The host will place bonus cards into the deck. If you receive one of these cards, you’ll get a bonus worth the face value of the card.
  • Blackjack Winning Streak – The first five players to make it to six wins in a row will win the jackpot. If you can get ten wins in a row, you’ll receive the “Legend Jackpot” worth an extra £100.
  • Roulette Happy Hour – £500 in cash will be awarded at random during happy hour. If you see your name light up, you’ll receive an instant £50.
  • Blackjack Happy Hour – There’s £500 up for grabs and only twenty winners. If your name is selected, you can receive as much as £50.
  • Side Bet Booster – The Side Bet Booster is activated at random. If and when it is, it lasts ten minutes. The host randomly chooses one of the seven side bet booster cards (with the side bet combo and bonus amount written on it). You’ll win the bonus if you win on a side bet that matches the combination written on the card.
  • Bad Beat Bonus – Lose three consecutive hands, and you’ll receive a £10 or £20 bonus.
  • Quiz Night – Play the hourly quiz. There are four questions, and if you’re the first person to give the correct answer, you’ll receive an instant £10-£50 bonus. All you need to do to qualify is take at least £20.

That’s it for their evergreen casino bonuses. They also have a rewards and a VIP program, which we’ll look at next.

  • Play Points – This is their rewards program. You receive points every time you play in one of their casinos. The cool thing is that it doesn’t matter if you play online, from your phone, or in one of their brick-and-mortar casinos.

They’re not clear as to the number of points you’ll receive, but it looks like you’ll receive one point for every £1 to approximately £18. This depends on whether you spend your money on food, drinks, slots, or video poker.

You can later exchange the points you accumulate for physical gifts, such as golf merchandise, gadgets, clothes, vouchers, and more. You can also get cash back. The rate is one hundred Play Points for every £1 you want to claim.

Unfortunately, you can’t cash this money out. You can cash out the money you win with it, though.

And if you spend enough money, you may be invited to become a Gold Card member. Gold Card members are eligible to receive additional perks such as bonuses, exclusive offers, birthday gifts, and more.

They say this program is invite-only. To qualify, you need to earn eight thousand points over a twelve-month period.

That’s it for their loyalty program.

  • Black Card – Their Black Card program is by invite only. Once you’re a member, you can expect to receive perks like:
  • Personalized greeting whenever you visit one of their brick-and-mortar casinos.
  • Direct access to their VIP team.
  • A personal account manager.
  • Exclusive in-casino and online casino promotions.
  • Invites to events.
  • Improved Play Point earning.

And that wraps things up for their casino offers. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you play for small amounts or if you’re a high roller; you can find a deal or incentive here.

Sports

Grosvenor has a couple of promotions running for their sports bettors. Here are the details:

  • Double the Odds – This is available to new bettors. All you need to do is register, and you’ll be eligible to receive double the odds on one of your next bets. What’s neat about this offer is that it’s available for any sport, bet, or odds. When you go to make your bet, click the 100% Odds Boost option and enter your stake (up to £10). Then place your bet.
  • Grosvenor Sport Specials – They offer two deals here:
  • Price Boosts – They boost the prices on the most popular bets on the biggest matches. The goal? To give you the best odds in the industry.
  • Enhanced Accas – Like above, they boost the prices of their most popular accumulators.

That’s it for their evergreen sports offers. Their sports product appears to be rather new, so we’d expect to see a few more offers added in the near future.

Poker

We’re going to finish this promotions section by taking a look at all the evergreen offers poker players can claim at Grosvenor Casino.

  • First Deposit Bonus – Create an account and make a deposit of £10 or more and you’ll receive a 200% match bonus up to £700. Deposit £25 or more and you’ll also receive a £50 “bonus bag.” This comes with the following goodies:
  • £20 bonus you can use on any casino game.
  • 350 Knockout points you can use to buy into any tournament with a buy-in of £10 or less.
  • 20x25p tournament tickets (worth £5).
  • A £5 Grosvenor tourney ticket.
  • £12 worth of free spins to use on their Game of Thrones slot machine.

You’ll also receive entries into their £500 and £1,000 New Player Freeroll. These are held every Wednesday for your first six weeks at Grosvenor.

  • Flush Royale – Hit a royal flush in their daily rebuy poker tournament and you’ll win an MPNPT package worth £1,500. This is a pretty good value considering the buy-in for the rebuy tourney is only £3.30 with £3.30 rebuys and add-ons.
  • Bad Beat Jackpot – Play at any of their cash poker tables (£0.10/£0.20 stakes or higher), and you can get a piece of their bad beat jackpot. The crazy thing is that you don’t even need to be playing at the specific table where the bad beat happens. All opted-in players will win a share.

80% of the jackpot is awarded to players; 40% goes to the losing hand and 20% goes to the winning hand. The remaining 20% is used to reseed the next jackpot.

  • Side Games Freerolls – Spend £25 or more on casino games from the poker client during the week to qualify for a freeroll with a £250 prize pool. For every extra £25 you spend on side games, you’ll receive an extra one thousand chips in your starting stack. You can receive a max of five thousand additional chips.
  • Monday Night Freerolls – Bet and settle £25 or more in their sportsbook, and you’ll receive entry into their Monday Night Freeroll. This has a £500 prize pool.
  • £10,000 Cash Game Leaderboard – Play five hundred or more raked hands at £1/£2 or lower and you can earn a spot on their profit leaderboard. The larger your profit, the higher you’ll place on their leaderboard.

There’s £8,000 up for grabs every month. The top three positions will win more than £1,000-£2,000. Sometimes Grosvenor will also include seats to special tournaments for the top leaderboard winners.

  • 25/25 Online Day 1s – Play in their 25/25 series from home. Then head to one of their Grosvenor Casinos if you manage to make Day 2. It looks like these tournaments will have a £225 buy-in, but you can satellite in via one of their step satellites for as little as 25p. They guarantee at least 20x £225 seats every week.
  • Grosvenor Poker Loyalty Scheme – You’ll receive ten points for every £1 you spend in rake on their cash games, tournaments, or SNGs.

You can use points for all sorts of perks, such as:

  • As much as 20% cash back in the form of cashable loyalty points.
  • Seats into GUKPT qualifiers.
  • Entries to freerolls with huge real-money prize pools.
  • Live tourney entries and sponsorship packages.
  • Entries into many of their online tourneys.
  • Exclusive Grosvenor Poker gifts and merchandise.

And more.

You can also use your points to buy into tournaments at a discounted rate.

That’s it for Grosvenor’s poker offers. They also run several guaranteed tournaments, freerolls, and game-specific promotions. We covered some of these earlier in our poker room review.

Mobile Friendliness

Their casino is an instant-play casino. This means you don’t need to download software to play their games.

This will be compatible with iOS and Android phone and tablet users. Windows users should have no problem playing here, too.

Poker players will have the same option. You can download their software or play via their instant-play poker room.

If you want to go native, Grosvenor also offers apps for their casino, live dealer casino, and poker room. iOS users can find all their apps here.

Customer Support

You can contact Grosvenor Casino using the following channels:

Envelope
PHONE: 0800 083 1990
LIVE CHAT

The fact that they have phone support is a big deal. Most casinos, even the “big names” in the UK market, do not. Grosvenor deserves major kudos for this.

However, we know that not everyone wants to talk on the phone (though it IS faster). If you opt for email instead, you should expect to receive a response in under four hours.

Conclusion

Grosvenor Casino is a top-notch all-in-one brand.

They certainly have their shortcomings. We were surprised to see how few table and video poker games they had.

However, we feel like they made up for it a little with their above-average live dealer casino. You won’t find tons of variety in their live casino, but you will find tons of variants and open tables. You can also play for £0.50 to £15,000, which is an impressive range.

Their poker room struggles in some areas, too. Specifically, they don’t have many players on their network. The upside is that they offer lots of low- to mid-stake cash games and tournaments. You may even find some juicy overlays.

Overall, Grosvenor Casino offers a well-rounded gambling site complete with casino games, online poker, and sports betting. They’ve been around for over eighty years, too, so you can feel safe when playing here. And that counts for a lot.

The bottom line – we recommend you check out Grosvenor Casino today.
