2024 Golden Star Casino Review

Golden Star is an interesting casino.

Why?

Because they’re a hybrid – they accept both bitcoin and fiat currencies. You can also play both regular and bitcoin casino games.

This review is the first I’ve heard of them; Golden Star has actually been online since 2012. This means they’ve passed, or are about to pass, their 5-year anniversary.

That’s usually good news, since casinos who are poorly managed or are out to scam players flounder and fail quickly – within a couple of years. So, 5 years in business is often a good sign.

But, that doesn’t mean they’re a good casino – or, at the very least, that they’re a good casino for you. You’ll have to figure that out on your own.

Don’t sweat it, though – we’ve done our best to help you out.

We’ve researched the casino and reported everything we found in our review below. Then we’ll wrap things up with a summary of our findings and our final thoughts on whether Golden Star should be on your list of casinos to check out in 2024.

**Important – Players from Spain, the USA and United Kingdom are not able to play at Golden Star Casino.

Banking Options, Limits & Fees

Golden Star Casino accepts several payment methods, as well as payments made in several currencies. We’ve listed the most common options below, as well as any fees, processing time frames and limits.

Please Note:

Everything in this section, as well as the rest of the page, is in USD (when available). You’ll want to visit Golden Star Casino to check out the limits/amounts for the currency you plan to use if that’s a concern.

The payment options you can use for deposits include (method / fee / time / min-max limits):

  • Visa / Free / Instant / $10-$10,000
  • MasterCard / Free / Instant / $10-$10,000
  • Company / Free / Instant / $10-$10,000
  • Cubits (bitcoin only) / Free / Instant / .02-unlimited
  • Trustly / Free / Instant
  • Neteller / Free / Instant / $10-$10,000
  • Skrill / Free / Instant / $10-$10,000
  • QIWI / Free / Instant / $10-$10,000
  • Sofort Uberweisung / Free / Instant / $10-$10,000

Your cash out options include:

  • Visa / Free / 1-3 days / $20-$5,000
  • MasterCard / Free / Instant / $20-$5,000
  • Company / Free / Instant / $20-$200
  • Cubits (bitcoin only) / Free / Instant / .04-10
  • Trustly / Free / Instant
  • Neteller / Free / Instant / $20-$5,000
  • Skrill / Free / Instant / $20-$5,000
  • QIWI / Free / Instant / $20-$200

Something that stands out here are how small some of the cash out limits are compared to their deposit limits. For example, you can deposit $10,000 with QIWI and company, but you can cash out no more than $200? That’s ridiculous.

Bitcoin’s the same way, though 10 BTC is still a lot of money.

And you still have to take daily, weekly and monthly limits into consideration. While any one option or singular transaction limit might seem absurd, the ceiling’s much higher when you look at it on a monthly basis. Or, if you’re willing to use multiple options.

You can see what I mean – here are Golden Star’s cash out terms:

The daily limit for funds withdrawal is USD 2,500 / BTC 5.

The weekly limit for funds withdrawal is USD 10,000 / BTC 10.

The monthly limit for funds withdrawal is USD 30,000 / BTC 40.

I doubt most people are going to max these limits out — $30,000 USD or 40 BTC ($48,000) is a lot of money.

Side Note:

VIPs who win jackpots aren’t subjected to any limits.

What Offers Can You Claim?

Golden Star Casino has a handful of offers you can claim. You’ll find the details behind their evergreen offers below.

First Deposit Bonus

Get a 100% match up to $100 or 100 mBTC. You’ll also get 50 free spins on the 7 Monkeys slot machine. This offer has a 50x playthrough on both the deposit bonus and winnings from the free spins. The max bet you can make on this offer is $5.

Second Deposit Bonus

Get a 75% match up to $100 or 100 mBTC. The playthrough is 50x the bonus. The max bet on this offer is $5.

Third Deposit Bonus

Get a 50% match up to $100 or 100 mBTC. This offer has the same terms as the second deposit bonus.

Have a Nice Weekend

Get a 50% match up to $50 or 50 mBTC. This has the same terms as the offers above.

Important
Reload bonuses – as a default – will have a 50x playthrough on the (deposit) bonus. They’ll have betting limits of $5 per spin/round, and are only available to players who have already made 3 or more deposits.

Complimentary Points

Whenever you play slots at Golden Star you’ll receive complimentary points (CP). You can exchange these points for cash back. The more points you earn, the better your exchange rate.

Here are the different tiers, along with the points you need to be on it, as well as the exchange rate you’ll get:

New Star
(0-149 CP) – no exchange
Bronze
(150-999 CP) – 14:1 Exchange
Silver
(1000-4999 CP) – 13:1 Exchange
Golden
(5000-14,999 CP) – 12:1 Exchange
Platinum
(15,000-29,999 CP) – 11:1 Exchange
Diamond
(30,000 CP) – 10:1 Exchange

You’ll want to keep in mind the exchange rate will vary based on the currency you’re using.

The frustrating thing here is that it’s only for slots. Even if they had to offer a sliding scale for the other games, something would be better than nothing for people who like to play table or video poker games.

What Casino Games Can You Play?

Golden Star Casino gets their games from several software providers. You can play games from:

  • Endorphina
  • NetEnt
  • BetSoft
  • Ezugi
  • Amatic
  • SoftSwiss
  • Microgaming

And others.

They have tons of games – far too many to list here – but the following is a list of some of their games so that you know what to expect if you sign up here.

Slots

  • Crazy Starter
  • Aztec Magic
  • Birds!
  • Cherry Fiesta
  • Desert Treasure
  • Lucky Blue
  • Lucky Sweets
  • Princess of Sky
  • Boomanji
  • West Town
  • 2 Million BC
  • 4 Seasons
  • The Glam Life
  • Mamma Mia!
  • More Gold Digging!
  • House of Fun
  • Gladiator
  • Frankenslot’s Monster
  • Fruit Zen
  • Rooks Revenge
  • Sugar Pop!
  • Three Wishes
  • True Illusions
  • Tycoons
  • Under the Bed
  • Mr. Vegas
  • Once Upon a Time
  • Under the Sea
  • Fresh Fruits
  • Stone Age
  • Satoshi’s Secret
  • Origami
  • Safari
  • Sparkling Fresh
  • Sushi
  • The King
  • Undine’s Deep
  • Ultra Fresh
  • Arrival
  • King Kong
  • Foxin’ Wins Again

  • Fafa Twins
  • 2016 Gladiators
  • Medusa II
  • Kawaii Kitty
  • Urartu
  • Wild Fruits
  • The Emirate
  • Mongol Treasures
  • Shaman
  • Jetsetter
  • Geisha
  • Football
  • Gems & Stones
  • Weekend in Vegas
  • Pinocchio
  • Paco and the Popping Peppers

One of the things that stands out to me most here are the bitcoin (themed) machines. Satoshi is a pretty common game found on bitcoin sites. Other than that I see several Microgaming and BetSoft machines. One thing I don’t see are, though, are any licensed slots. That’s a little disappointing.

On the bright side, Golden Star hosts regular slot tournaments. This can be a great way to get more bang for your buck.

Table Games

  • Blackjack Surrender
  • Texas Hold’em
  • Casino Hold’em
  • Baccarat
  • Oasis Poker
  • Poker Caribbean
  • Trey Poke
  • French Roulette
  • American Roulette
  • European Roulette
  • Blackjack Multihand Pro
  • Blackjack Double Exposure
  • Blackjack

This is an okay selection of table games, though there are several that are missing which are usually staples in nearly any casino – such as war and pai gow poker. It’s even more surprising considering how Microgaming has this many blackjack variants ON TOP of their table game selection.

Video Poker

  • Aces and Eights
  • Aces and Faces
  • Bonus Deuces Wild
  • Deuces Wild
  • Double Double Bonus
  • Jacks or Better
  • Wild Texas

This is an okay selection. Though, like their table games, I’d expect far, far more when you consider all the software providers they work with.

Live Dealer

  • Blackjack
  • Chinese Blackjack
  • Russian Blackjack
  • Casino Holdem
  • Roulette
  • Chinese Roulette
  • Russian Roulette
  • Spanish Roulette

This is a modest selection. But I think they make up for it a bit with the different blackjack and roulette (dealer) variants.

And …that wraps up the bulk of their games. You’ll see that they have their games listed under other headings, such as:

  • Top Games
  • New
  • Jackpots
  • BTC games
  • Other games

But there’s a ton of overlap in the games we listed above and what they have included in those lists.

Last – most, if not all of their games are mobile-compatible. I checked their site out from my iPhone and everything looked great. I also expect the site is compatible with most devices who can use a compatible browser, since the casino is browser-based. That means most newer Android and Apple devices should have no problem, as well as maybe even Windows and BlackBerry devices.

Something to Point Out About Their Game Selection

There’s a good chance they have far more games than what we talk about here. Because I live in the United States, I have a feeling Golden Star can’t show me their games, per their agreement with certain software providers.

Note:

According to other sources Golden Star has more than 500 slot machines. So, that confirms my thinking that I simply did not see all their games.

Additional Information on BetSoft

I’m not a fan of BetSoft – the company, anyway. Don’t get me wrong, they have fun games. However, they made headlines awhile back for not paying a customer when they hit one of their jackpots (that the casino also failed to pay). There have been reports of some of their machines not working correctly, too.

For those reasons, I don’t see how any casino can continue to work with them. But Golden Star Casino does (as does many, many others).

And the funny thing is, Golden Star has provably fair games. We’ve written about these elsewhere on our site, in case you don’t know what those are. But the short version is that provably fair games let you double check the game after each round is done to make sure it was random, thus fair.

It’s sort of funny because on one hand you have a shoddy software provider, but on the other you have provably fair games.

You’re probably okay if you stick to their non-jackpot games, and preferably BetSoft’s games altogether. But it still doesn’t make you feel any better about Golden Star, though.

Conclusion

Here are my thoughts –

They only have 2 complaints on AskGamblers.com – one is resolved and the other was rejected (by AskGamblers). And they have average to slightly above average reviews, though only a few who gave Golden Star a rating is worth paying attention to.

Overall, there’s not enough evidence to say what the general public thinks of them. But if you consider that there’s no major scam reports or a laundry list of complaints anywhere, then you could assume that Golden Star is safe to play at.

My biggest complaint is that they continue work with BetSoft. And that’s on top of all the much bigger and better power-hitting software providers they get games from. In other words, they don’t need BetSoft.

But I do like their offers, which may be on the small side, but have a reasonable playthrough. Their banking options focus on speed, which is also great. They have hundreds of games to choose from, too.

The bottom line – Golden Star wouldn’t be my first choice for an international casino. There are tons of (slightly) better options out there – Bet365 and 888 Casino instantly come to mind.

But I don’t see any reason not to check them out if they pique your interest.

    ***WARNING TO ALL GAMERS***

DO NOT PLAY AT GUNSBET CASINO OR GOLDEN-STAR CASINO!

Firstly, Let me be clear on one thing. I’m sharing my experience with you all so you can make a wiser decision choosing an online casino to play at.

Secondly, I am aware of responsible gambling and this is not case of “loosing my money gambling it” and then crying over it! I am well aware how online casinos work! I am well aware how long they take to issue any withdrawals so with that said it would be absolutely bizarre why someone would choice to gamble large amounts of money to begin with!

These “sister” sites have scammed over $9,000 AUD from my banking accounts! I didn’t even open an account with Guns-bet ???? The support team are absolutely disgusting to deal with! This matter could have dealt with when it was raised at $4,000 AUD, however no the casino did not proactively do anything to prevent transaction issues re-occurring and as a result I am out of pocket over $9,000 AUD.

Choose wisely guys, stay away from these two because they are crooks! Even if they hold a licence they certainly shouldn’t because they certainly are 100% scamming crooks!
