Springbok Casino Review

Let me ask you a question – are you interested in getting more than R10,000 in bonuses and having access to more than 100 casino games?

Then you’ll want to read our Springbok Casino review. They’re a 5-year old casino who focuses on the South African market. They offer several promotions and games I think many of our readers will enjoy.

However, there are a few things I don’t like about them. Things, I think, some people won’t be able to look past. You wouldn’t be able to hold it against them, either.

We cover all these details – good and bad – in our review below. Give it a read and by the time that you’re done, you should have a pretty good idea as to whether Springbok is the right casino for you.

Let’s get to it.

Company

Who runs Springbok? Are they licensed? How long have they been in business?

We’re not going to waste any time – let’s go over the bad news first.

Springbok Casino doesn’t have an about page – nothing I could find, anyway – nor did I find much information about them online.

What I can tell you is that they’ve been in business since 2012. And that they also own and operate (or, are otherwise connected to) Thunderbolt Casino.

The most information I could find I found on their e-gaming license website. So, the good news is that they’re licensed (in Curacao). But I’d still like more information about their company.

I mean, how often do people do business with companies they know nothing about?

What countries are prohibited from playing here?

Springbok Casino does not accept players from the following countries:

  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Bulgaria
  • Belarus
  • China
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • United Kingdom
  • Georgia
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Kazakstan
  • Lithuania
  • Latvia
  • Moldova
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Russian Federation
  • Slovenia
  • Thailand
  • Turkey
  • Ukraine
  • United States

How’s their reputation?

Average.

I Googled a few scam phrases and didn’t anything negative worth reporting. All I found are your average complaints.

ThePogg.com doesn’t recommend them, which isn’t surprising. Their main reason is Springbok (allegedly) have ties to the Jackpot Capital Group (whom is accredited at Casinomeister.com), who has ties with Deck Media. Both of which ThePogg.com has problems with.

I did some research on this myself, but did not find any evidence that the 2-3 groups are connected.

Other than that, everything else I found is pretty neutral. They have 5 complaints on AskGamblers.com, but each one has been resolved. They have average to slightly above average ratings everywhere else.

So, their reputation isn’t overwhelmingly positive, but there’s nothing to worry about, either.

Customer Support

How do you contact support?

You have a couple of options for reaching out to support. You can use:

Envelope
PHONE: 1 678 349 0095
LIVE CHAT

Live chat support is also available on their website.

Banking

What payment methods does Springbok accept?

They accept the following payment methods:

  • MasterCard
  • Visa
  • Easy EFT
  • Skrill
  • Neteller
  • EcoPayz
  • Secure Instant EFT

The minimum deposit for all options is R25. There doesn’t appear to be any fees. ZAR is the only currency accepted/used.

How can you cash out your winnings? Are there any limits or fees?

Your options are:

  • Wire Transfer - Min R1500 / R200 in fees
  • Skrill - Min R500
  • Neteller - Min R500
  • EcoPayz - Min R500
  • Secure Instant Deposit - No limits posted

Depending on the option you choose, you’ll have to wait 2-20 days for your cash out.

Promotions

Does Springbok Casino offer a new player bonus?

They do. You can claim a match bonus of as much as 100%, up to R11,500. This is spread out over your first 3 deposits, like so:

  • 1st Deposit - This is a 100% match bonus up to R1,500.
  • 2nd / 3rd Deposit – This is a 50% match bonus up to R10,000 (This comes out to about $900 USD).

This is a decent bonus in terms of size. But it’s structured a bit funny. You claim about $115 on your first deposit, then an additional $775 over the next two.

They don’t clarify what the limits are, either – if there are any – for the 2nd and 3rd deposits. I’d assume that you can claim whatever you want, and they’ll cap you at R10,000.

The playthrough for this offer is 30x the deposit and bonus, which is average …maybe a tad high. And you can play (only) these games to fulfill the playthrough: 7-stud poker, bingo games, European slot poker, keno, pai gow poker, scratch cards and all slots. Playing any other (excluded) game will immediately void your bonus and winnings.

Other than that – the maximum bet for all bonuses is R100.

These terms will also apply to all their other bonuses, unless stated otherwise.

What additional offers can you claim?

  • Exclusive Bonus - This is a 300% match offer on any deposit. The max on this offer is R600 (R200 deposit).
  • 25% Cashback – Make a deposit – and opt to skip a deposit bonus – and you can receive 25% cash back up to R3,000 (R12,000 deposit). There’s no limit to how many times you can claim this offer, and you don’t have to claim it after EVERY deposit – you can wait several deposits to build your bankroll up, then claim it. You’ll need to roll the cashback over 10x. You’ll need to contact customer support if you want to claim this offer.
  • 100% Lucky 7 Bonus - Get a 100% match bonus up to R777. This bonus is only available to the first 77 players to claim it on the 7th of every month.

Do they offer a comps and/or VIP program?

They have a comp points program. You get 1 point for every R10 you spend. Every 100 points you collect can later be exchanged for R1.

Overall Thoughts

They have a few nice offers, though the non-welcome deposit bonuses are on the small side. But at least that means you can get through the playthrough a little faster. The way the welcome bonus is structured is a little odd, too – but that’s not a big deal or anything.

I do like the cashback offer, as you get a little extra to play with in the inevitable situation where you bust your bankroll.

Overall, it’s nice to see a variety of unique offers.

Games

What software companies does Springbok work with? How many games can you play?

Springbok uses Real Time Gaming software. This gives you 120+ games to play.

The downside is that I think Real Time Gaming software – by itself – is a little boring. I’ve seen it used so much in the US market.

Then there are several casinos who also cater to South African players who work with multiple software companies, including heavy weights like Microgaming and Playtech. RTG has nothing compared to either of these companies, much less both when combined.

An upside – maybe – is that the South African market is still newish and growing. So, Real Time Gaming software and games might still feel fresh and not played out like it does in other markets.

That said, I hope Springbok has plans to add to or improve their current setup in the near future.

What are some examples of games you can play?

Here are some of the games you can play:

Blackjack Games

  • Blackjack
  • Super 21
  • Match play 21
  • Blackjack + perfect pairs
  • European blackjack
  • Pontoon
  • Face up 21
  • Suit em up

One of the few benefits to Real Time Gaming software are all their blackjack variants. Would you believe that there are some casinos who, despite working with one of the ‘heavy hitters,’ only offer 1 or 2 BJ variants?

Table Games

  • Red Dog
  • Baccarat
  • Caribbean Draw w/Progressive
  • Caribbean Holdem
  • Tri-Card Poker
  • Pai Gow Poker
  • Caribbean Stud
  • Texas Holdem Poker
  • Vegas Free Card Rummy
  • War

This is a modest list, though you’ll find a few more games in their download. Also keep in mind that this is in addition to all their blackjack games listed above.

Online Roulette

  • French Roulette
  • European Roulette
  • American Roulette
  • Multiplayer Roulette

This is a modest list of roulette variants. But I do like seeing the French variant (best player odds), as well as the multiplayer roulette (for a small change of pace).

Video Poker

  • Aces and Eights
  • All American Poker
  • Bonus Deuces Wild
  • Bonus Poker
  • Double Bonus Poker
  • Double Double Bonus
  • Jackpot Poker
  • European Slot Poker
  • Jacks or Better
  • Joker Poker
  • Loose Deuces
  • Mystery Bonus Poker
  • Pick ’em Poker
  • Sevens Wild
  • 7 Stud Poker

This is another benefit to Real Time Gaming – lots and lots of video poker games. In addition to all these unique video poker titles, you can play multi-hand variants, too.

Slots

  • Achilles
  • Aladdin’s Wishes
  • Aztec’s Treasure
  • Bubble Bubble
  • Builder Beaver
  • Caesar’s Empire
  • Cash Bandits
  • Cleopatra’s Gold
  • Count Spectacular
  • Coyote Cash

  • The Nice List
  • Three Stooges Brideless Groom
  • Tiger Treasures
  • Triple Twister
  • Voodoo Magic
  • Wild Wizards
  • Witch’s Brew
  • Zhanshi

I have a couple of thoughts about their slots:

  • It’s disappointing to see that you cannot play licensed titles that revolve around video games, movies, TV shows, celebrities, etc. That’s where casinos powered by Microgaming and Playtech shine most, I think.
  • On the upside, there are still slots revolving around fun themes such as Halloween, horror, animals, holidays, and more. Plus, you have slots revolving around well-known, but seemingly open licensed themes, such as the Three Stooges. Or, indirectly leveraging other well-known themes or brands, such as Indiana Jane (Indiana Jones).

They have a solid selection overall. You’ll find plenty of variety between 3 and 5-reel classic and video slots, as well as slots with bonuses, multipliers, features, wilds, progressives and so on.

They have slot tournaments, too. Some are freerolls, which means you don’t have to pay to enter them, yet you can still win real money prizes. Though they often do offer add-ons, which allows you to add real money, which in turn boosts the prize pool and the amount you can potentially win.

Their slot tournaments routinely have guaranteed 5 or 6-figure prize pools, so if that’s worth a look if you’re into tournaments.

Overall Thoughts

While I think RTG software is sort of played out, the brighter side of things is to realize how diverse their smaller selection of games is. They have just about any type of game you’d want to play, between their slots, table, blackjack and video poker games.

The biggest thing missing, I see, are live dealer games. Other than maybe adding games from other software providers, that’s what I’d hope would be next on their to-do list.

How do you play their games? Are they mobile compatible?

You have 3 options for how to play their games – a download, instant play (browser) casino, or mobile.

If you want access to ALL their games, then go with the download. Otherwise, for the sake of keeping things simple and light, I’d recommend using their browser casino.

They do have a mobile casino, which is compatible with iOS and Android devices. You can check it out, along with most/all of their games and progressive jackpots on their website.

Conclusion

What do we like least about Springbok Casino?

There are a few things that stand out to me. In no particular order:

  • There’s very little information about them. I’m not entirely sure who owns or operates this casino, nor does anyone else. That information isn’t available.
  • They don’t have any live dealer games – This is unfortunate, considering the popularity of live dealers among the online gambling community.
  • Several of their bonuses/offers are on the small side.
  • The standard playthrough for their bonuses (30x deposit + bonus) is average at best, if not a touch high.

What do we like most about them?

Here are some of the things I do like about them:

  • Despite not offering live dealer games, they do have a good variety of games otherwise.
  • There are several video poker and table game options. This is one of the few perks to Real Time Gaming’s software.
  • It appears they offer LOTS of games for mobile players. More than what I’d consider to be the industry standard (so far).

Do we recommend Springbok Casino to our readers?

I don’t yet have a ton of experience in the South African online gambling market. So, it’s hard for me to say where exactly I think Springbok fits in the overall scheme of things.

So, here’s what I’m thinking:

If you have access to a Microgaming and/or Playtech powered casino, then chances are – from a gaming perspective – you’ll be much happier there. This might be more or less true depending on what games you want to play, or if promotions are important to you. But overall, I think most people (on average) will be happier at a Playtech or Microgaming casino.

The lack of transparency of who owns/operates their company is also a problem for me …and probably will be for a large percentage of our readers. There are plenty of other legit casinos who are transparent about who they are, where they do business from, etc.

But, if you can get past that, and you’re not feeling confined with the games list from above, then I see no reason not to check out Springbok Casino.

They are sneaky because the free bonus usually maximum withdrawal is R500 or R1250 but they don’t allow bank wire transfers less than R1500 . You have to use a 3rd party like netteller or skill then the money gets huge deductions and take 10 to 20 days. Absolutely terrible and the support has people who have a very poor command of English. So it’s very frustrating the assistant Sony would not even give me the email address for further assistance. Shocking

for the “payout/account verification” they constantly move the goal posts everytime you do a payout you get told they need documents again. When you send it (i sent a certified copy of my ID the same copy that i used a month earlier to register my newborn baby as a citizen and I also sent a photo of me holding my ID and still they came back 3 days later telling me they want a photo of my ID not a pdf), whatever they ask you to send, will be requested in a different format with every withdrawal, jpeg, will want pdf, and visa versa. Every time its another 3-5 business working days., In the interim, they bombard you with vouchers, which if used during a payout (if i ever get past a.c verification), actually invalidates the “payout) (will say you must play through first, meaning loose everything you won)

I won R10 000 and when I tried to withdraw it they said that I broke the max bet limit, what bullsh*t is that. They stole my money that’s wat they do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Jacques August 17, 2020 at 10:56 am

Tried them and actually enjoyed the setup and the fack that is sound “local is lekker” I won R1300 and the max pay out was R1500 so obviously choise is to withdraw and play again. Did the verification as required and was told to let the process run its course (even took screen shots) since I had to wait for them I though it well to ay on the Practise mode they offer that way you experience all the games en get to try a few things as every game the give you R1000 (not real money) to Practise. As I was playing in Practise mode just about ever game out there I noticed my credit has now disappeared. So I imidiately got icontact with the customer care Tech as surely they can see if been playing in Practise all morning and just applying a little bit of logic why would ‘n person that is already on the max payout play with real money as there is nothing to gain… They did not see it that way and I was treated like a liar and it’s my problem… Even the Supervisor had the people skills of door nat because she told me to be careful next time. R1300 is nothing and we play that out in 20min… It’s the way it was handled as they still can’t see why it wrong… I really expected them to use technology and check my moves and they would see I was on Practice mode for most of the morning… I have no reason or purpose to use my real money as if already reached my max. But nothing I’m at faulty, sad part is that money x4 would have been played back with them same day…. Don’t let springbok fool you as proudly SA unfortunately it choose to work like the mojority of SA desasters…. You will regret using them soon then later trust me.

Where do i report springbok casino on irregulations

  10. Julie Steyn April 24, 2020 at 9:43 pm

Email I sent to Springbok casino as follows :

I have been playing with you for over a month since we locked down

I have handed over about 15k in hard cash if I include my hubbys account.

And now I have finally figured how your set up is designed to take money and not give any substantial return.

You are relying on us plebs to take all the offers which we are bombarded with daily which we do, cause we love free stuff, but then it turns out it isn’t actually free stuff , its a tool for you to ensure that no one ever really wins.

Yesterday I had 250 in my acc – a refund from you guys for a botched eft and I didn’t notice the money was there and I went ahead and took my Friday 850 and started playing – for the first time I won !! got up to 17k I was ecstatic – then I go to see my withdrawable amt and its 250????

Chat Karen tells me to go read the terms and conditions… like who does that ? when last did you go and read your ins policy or will etc ? no one stops to read the small print

Gaming is a matter of fair play usually not something one needs to study up on

Chat says I must play through 45000 to get my money available which I then proceed to do (albeit a bit begrudgly but okay it was your 850) So then I get down to the end of the play through which takes its toll and I have about 8k left…still a win at least….then BOOM out of no where my money drops to 1600 – I go to balance, and low and behold even though I did the playthrough you then took back the BONUSES !!

SO NOT REALLY A BONUS THEN ?????MORE LIKE A LOAN ????

Sis that actually is just wrong that you do that to people…

Rather don’t offer freedbies if they are not actually free

And how pray tell are the people on your winners board winning those amounts ? I wander what the play through they are stuck with is…

Anyway that’s the way you do things and I was going to sculk away in embarassment for being taken for a sucker and then I thought no I don’t want anyone else being taken on the same ride. So I will post my little story on social media and hope that no one else falls into your shiny trap…

As for my money I will start spending it a lotto star…at least if I win,its actually tangible cash.
