Full Review of Free Spin Casino

We are finding it harder and harder to locate US-facing casinos to review.

This is not surprising, given the legal and regulatory climate in the country when it comes to online gambling.

Free Spin Casino is an interesting site in that they didn’t launch until the US was right in the middle of a bunch of gambling turmoil caused by the Department of Justice.

Did this gamble pay off for the owners of this site? Our review will get you one step closer to answering that question.

Basic Information

Launched in 2011, Free Spin Casino is listed as being owned by a Curacao company, I-Services N.V. Now, that doesn’t tell us much, but here is what we figured out after some research. This is the same company that operates Cherry Gold Casino (the phone numbers are one digit off).

Also, the terms and conditions of the sites are exactly the same. So, we can assume that they operate at least these two brands, and maybe more.

The casino has its gaming license from Curacao as well. Those of you who have read our reviews know that we don’t think much of this regulatory board. It seems like more of a cash grab than anything, as operators appear to have no restrictions on how their businesses are run.

Restricted Countries

Who can play at Free Spin Casino?

Do you live in the UK? If so, then we are sorry to say that you are not able to play at Free Spin Casino for real money.

Aside from that, it doesn’t appear as though any other players are restricted from playing the games. This isn’t entirely shocking, as with a Curacao license, the owners can feel comfortable accepting deposits from anywhere without being punished by the regulator.

The Casino

Free Spin Casino uses the same software as its sister site, the RealTime Gaming platform. This developer has been in business since 1998 and has continued to grow their US-facing business despite the changing legal times in the country.

We applaud them for taking the risk – many developers just left the market, leaving US players out in the cold. Of the remaining American-friendly software companies, RTG’s games are some of the best.

The games at Free Spin Casino are available either by downloading a piece of software directly to your computer or by playing them from your internet browser. Not surprisingly, the graphics in the downloadable client are a little bit better, but you won’t notice much if you stick with the flash games.

Let’s break down the casino games into some more detail.

Table Games

Reviewing table games is always an interesting challenge for us at this site. After all, what can a company do to a blackjack table to make it stand out from their competition?

The games at RTG are certainly not terrible, and they have a full selection to choose from, including several versions of 21 featuring slightly different rules. The games are quick, and that is important to us, as we don’t like to have the game freeze up while we are in the middle of the hand.

Here is the full list of table games that are available at Free Spin Casino. If you see a game you haven’t tried before, then we recommend you give it a go for free by selecting the play money option – who knows what you have been missing out on?

Slots

We love the slots games that RTG has to offer, and you will find the full range of their development skills on display in the Free Spin Casino lobby.

The company started out building the classic three-reel games like every other casino, but they quickly moved on to what they call their “Real Series” of slots titles. These games feature much richer graphics, giving the games almost a 3D feel to them. They are also more storyline-based, so that will keep you more engaged as a player.

We are happy to see some progressive jackpots at Free Spin, but it looks as though they have opted out of the full network progressives, which is a bummer. Nevertheless, there are still a few games where you can add huge jackpots to your regular spins.

Live Dealer Games

There are currently no live dealer options available for players at Free Spin Casino. We find this a bit odd, as we know that RealTime Gaming has been offering live dealer games to some of their other licensees.

After they did a partnership deal with a studio in Costa Rica, the company integrated the platform into their back end so that the games could be managed just like the other RTG casino games.

Maybe Free Spin Casino is farther down the implementation list, or maybe they just don’t see the value in adding these tables to their casino. We are disappointed either way, because we think everyone who plays live dealer games will fall in love with them as we did.

Banking Options

When you look at the payment options open to players at Free Spin Casino, you can see that the management team is focused on players from the US. There are few options for deposits and withdrawals, but the fact that they have added Bitcoin means that the company is headed in the right direction.

Payment times are listed as 5-7 business days, and aside from some complaints from players about slower times than what was listed, it would appear the company tries to keep to those limits.

Deposits

Type Min. Max.
Visa $25 $1,000
Mastercard $25 $1,000
Bitcoin $25 Unlimited

Withdrawals

Type Min. Max.
Visa $150 $2000 per week
Mastercard $150 $2000 per week
Bitcoin $150 $2000 per week

We take some issue with the casino limiting players to one withdrawal request per week. Now, we cannot confirm if that is one request per method or one overall request, but either way, we think this is an archaic way to deal with players.

It is highly doubtful that this site is bogged down by withdrawal requests, so it just comes across as a way to stop players from leaving the site.

Bonus and Promotions

Our Bonus and Promotions section of any review is typically split into two categories: Welcome Offers and Ongoing Promotions. Each serves a very different purpose. The Welcome Bonus is meant to get you to open your wallet, and the ongoing promos are there to keep you active.

We have seen pretty much every type of promotion you can imagine, so let’s see where Free Spin Casino stacks up.

Welcome Bonus

So, before we get to the Welcome Bonus, we have to get something off our chest. The site is called Free Spin Casino, and yet there is no free spin no-deposit bonus available to players when they register accounts.

This seems like a slam dunk of a promotion, so we are shocked that the marketing department seems to have let it slip through the cracks.

Okay, on to the welcome bonus, which is a very generous 250% match bonus on your first deposit. You must make the minimum deposit of $25 to qualify (so everyone qualifies), but there is no indication of the maximum limit for the bonus. We imagine that if you max out your deposit at $1,000, then the site will be only too happy to offer you the full bonus.

With a wagering requirement of 30x, it will be difficult to convert all those bonus dollars anyway. We made a deposit of $200 to test the account, and we received the full $500 in bonus dollars to play with.

Comp/VIP Program

When we are reviewing a site, we spend a lot of time reading through the full terms and conditions posted on the website. Many times, you can find out something about a game, payments, or a promotion that you won’t find in other text on the site.

When we read the general terms and conditions at Free Spin Casino, we came across the following text of note:

Comp Points
Unless otherwise stated, all comp points are the subject to the following terms and conditions: Comp points are accumulated by player while playing games at the casino. Every $10 wagered a player gets 1 Comp Point whereas 100 Points = $1. The minimum redeemable amount of Comp Points is 100. VIP players earn more comp points for every wager made, depending on the VIP class a player is a member of. For more information, please address to your VIP Agent. Comp Points have neither max cash out nor wagering, once redeemed. Player cannot claim match bonuses in addition to the comp points redeemed as both are considered as different bonus types. Any comp points accumulated before the first successful deposit, or any winnings derived from them will be subject to the maximum cash out restriction of the no deposit bonus used.”

So, with that in mind, we started hunting for the VIP and comp program pages…and came up empty. It is weird to see the T&C for these components of the site without actually seeing the program itself. We prefer transparency when it comes to both comp points and VIP status so we know how difficult it may be to achieve anything of substance while we play.

Daily Bonuses

The site promotes that they have great daily bonuses. However, when you go to the promotions page, all you find is a promotion set aside for one day of the week. We like to see the full roster of daily and weekly promotions posted because leaving us in the dark doesn’t give us a chance to plan out our gambling week.

We hope that the daily promotion is swapped out every day, so there is something fresh for players to log in and see. Otherwise, this is a bit of a letdown.

Mobile Friendliness

Right on the homepage of the site, Free Spin Casino lets you know that you can play their games on your mobile device. Now, what you need to know is that there are no native apps to be found for iOS, Google, or Android, as these would not be approved for a US-facing audience.

When you are playing on your mobile, you are playing games formatted to be played on your phone or tablet’s browser.

The quality of the mobile games is actually quite adequate. The games we tested were both responsive and graphics-rich. However, not every RTG title has been formatted for mobile use yet, so you may not see a game you are used to playing on your PC.

Customer Support

In reviewing the support area of the Free Spin Casino, we looked for a few things. First, we looked to see what contact methods were available.

At Free Spin, you can use the good old-fashioned telephone (long distance charges will apply), their live chat feature (found at the bottom of every page of the website), or send them an email to their support address. This is an excellent array of options.

Envelope
PHONE: +1 646 905 0497
LIVE CHAT

Next, we looked at other player forums to see if anyone was complaining about the service from the casino. Great news: there isn’t much aside from the odd complaint here or there, which, after six years of being open, is a standard amount of complaints.

Finally, we tested one of the methods. We chose live chat in this instance. We clicked on the chat window in the evening hours and were pleasantly surprised to find that the agent responded quickly and was able to deal with our request without much issue at all.

Conclusion

  • Our first impression of Free Spin Casino was that it was going to be just another carbon copy RTG site. While the ownership group does own another brand, we were pleased to see some differences in the promotions and the site layout.

  • We are disappointed that they don’t take advantage of their name more in the promotions (such a great tie-in to their URL), and they could use some more ongoing promotions. However, where we were most upset was in the apparent lack of a comp or VIP program, despite having details of it in their terms and conditions.

Overall, this casino is quite serviceable for American players.

If you live outside the US, then we suggest you read some of our other reviews to find something a little more robust for your gaming needs.
