Andar Bahar Game Rules

Andar bahar is a gamble almost as even money as a coin-flip; the outcome of each hand is either andar wins, or bahar wins. Here’s how the hand is dealt:

From a freshly shuffled 52-card deck, a joker is dealt between the andar and the bahar card wagering areas. Also called the Middle Card, this is the card that must be matched for one of the two main wagers to win. Cards are then dealt alternately to the andar and the bahar side until a card matching the joker is dealt. Suit is unimportant, although face cards must match faces, i.e., a jack is matched only by another jack.

Bets on either andar or bahar have a nearly 50-50 percent chance of winning, so where’s the excitement? Where’s the gamble? Well, the truth is, the odds aren’t exactly 50%. Since virtually all online andar games deal the first card to the inside (andar), that side has a very slight advantage over the bahar side. How slight? The odds are 51.5:48.5.

Because of that disparity, the house pays any winning andar wager 1.90:1, while paying bahar at the full 2:1 odds.

Nobody gambles to break even, or even nearly even. Luckily, andar bahar has a wealth of side wagers available—and these offer much more exciting odds.

Andar Bahar Strategy

Now that you have a better idea of how to play andar bahar, your next area of concern is almost certainly how to win. Sure, it’s a game of chance, and the outcomes are purely random. Does that mean there is no advantage to be found?

Here are a few tips to consider:

• Wager on the Best RTPs — Return to player differs from wager to wager in andar bahar, and luckily, those RTPs are easy to find. While nominally equal bets, a wager on andar has an RTP of 97.85%, while a wager on bahar has a return to player of 97.0%. Not a huge difference, to be sure, but worth noting over the long run.
• Choose Online Casinos Offering the Highest Payouts — Different casinos offer different payouts on specific bets. The differences are typically slight, but a return of $1.05 on your dollar wager on Below 8 or Above 8 is five cents better than a return of $1. • Bet on the Range — This bet wins if the card-count up to and including the winning match falls within the range of numbers wagered upon, e.g., a 26-30 range wagered upon wins if the winning count is within that range. Odds vary significantly paying anywhere from 2.5:1 to 119:1.
• Mid-Game Wager — if the first card dealt to andar and bahar fail to produce a win, some casinos may stop the deal long enough to permit a mid-game wager. Since there is a very slight chance that the winning card will be dealt to the side first dealt to (51.5%), this gives players an opportunity to alter their main bet accordingly.
