Week 2 starts with a major showdown in Buffalo between the Lions and the Bills. Top NFL betting sites have the Bills favored by 4.0 points in the home opener of their new stadium.

The biggest favorite of Week 2 is San Fran, favored by 13 points over Miami. At -1100 on the moneyline, the 49ers have an implied win probability of 91.67%. Five other teams, including the Rams (-7.0), Chargers (-7.0), and Ravens (-8.0), are favored by at least 6.5 points in Week 2.

Oddsmakers have the NFC South matchup between the Panthers and the Falcons as the closest matchup of the weekend. Carolina is a 1.5-point road favorite, but Atlanta is an even-money home underdog.

Week 2 TNF Best Bet: Detroit Lions +4.0 (-105)

Icon of football
  • Detroit’s rushing attack was dominant in Week 1, gaining 165 yards on the ground against the Saints.
  • Buffalo’s defense allowed over 380 total yards in Week 1, including 120+ on the ground.
  • The Bills are playing on a short week after a physical game against Houston, putting them at a disadvantage for Detroit’s style of play.

Detroit is getting 4.0 points (-105) for Thursday’s matchup with the Bills in Buffalo. The Lions survived an overtime scare against the Saints last week, thanks in large part to a dominant game from Jahmyr Gibbs.

Gibbs’ Week 1 performance included:

Icon of football
  • 156 rushing yards (Most in the NFL)
  • 2 rushing TDs (T-3rd most)
  • 14 first down runs (Most in the NFL)
  • 30 receiving yards

Despite the short rest, Gibbs should have another big day on Thursday against the Bills. Buffalo held David Montgomery to 3.0 yards per carry in Week 1, but still gave up 124 yards on the ground.

Their physical game against the Texans in Houston also puts the Bills at a unique rest disadvantage for their first home game. The Bills can still win by exploiting the Lions’ defensive issues, but Detroit should cover the 4.0-point spread.

Week 2 NFL Picks

Here are my favorite NFL picks for Week 2, courtesy of the top NFL betting sites.

Best Week 2 NFL ML Picks (Straight Up)

Icon of football
  • New England Patriots (-240)
  • Green Bay Packers (-195)
  • Kansas City Chiefs (-310)

New England struggled in the second half of its 13-10 loss to Seattle after A.J. Brown left the game with a high-ankle sprain. The Pats are -240 favorites against the Steelers this weekend in Foxborough. Both offenses should struggle, but New England has the better QB and the home-field advantage, which should be enough to win.

Green Bay (-195) is favored against the Jets in MetLife this weekend after giving up 22 unanswered points in their Week 1 loss to Minnesota. Prior to their fourth-quarter meltdown, though, the Packers racked up 22 points against an aggressive Brian Flores’ defense. Jordan Love and company will have a better, complete game against the Jets and win.

The Chiefs quieted many doubters with their 31-10 win over the Broncos on Monday Night Football. Kansas City is in prime time again this week and available as a -310 favorite against the Colts on Sunday Night Football. Indianapolis could not stop the run last week, and another strong game from Kenneth Walker III will help KC get off to a 2-0 start.

Week 2 NFL Picks ATS

Icon of football
  • Minnesota Vikings +5.5 (-110)
  • Philadelphia Eagles -7.0 (-117)
  • Miami Dolphins +13.0 (-110)

Minnesota’s 22-point fourth quarter helped the Vikings complete a comeback win over the Packers last week. The Vikings are 5.5-point underdogs this week against Chicago, which is coming off a 59-37 win over Carolina. Flores and the defense will be significantly more challenging for the Bears offense and keep the Vikings within 5.5 points.

Philadelphia also started the year with a division win, beating the Commanders 24-22. The Eagles are 7.0-point road favorites this week against the Titans. Tennessee was blown out by the Jets last week and has little to no chance of keeping this game within one score.

Miami is the biggest underdog of the weekend, getting 13.0 points against the 49ers in San Francisco. The Dolphins had some explosive plays last week but failed to turn them into touchdowns. San Fran has a tough defense, but they will be jet-lagged after playing in Australia, opening the door for Miami to cover the large spread if it can capitalize on its scoring opportunities.

Best Week 2 NFL Upset Picks

Icon of football
  • Las Vegas Raiders (+260)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (+115)
  • Washington Commanders (+172)

The Raiders headline my list of the best upset picks for Week 2. Las Vegas is listed at +260 to beat a Chargers team that was just dominated by the Cardinals. Vegas has the momentum, and LA could be without WR Ladd McConkey, which would severely limit the Chargers’ offense.

Another underdog to back in Week 2 is Jacksonville, which is listed at +115 to beat the Broncos in Denver. The Broncos were crushed by the Chiefs on MNF, and their defense missed 28 tackles. Jacksonville dominated the Broncos in Denver last year and has tons of momentum after a 34-10 win over the Browns in the season opener.

Washington is listed at +172 odds to beat the Cowboys in Dallas. The Commanders almost upset the Eagles in Philly last week, but the Cowboys lost to the Giants despite being the road favorite. Washington can exploit the same holes in Dallas’s run defense that the Giants used and pull off the upset win.

NFL Week 2 Predictions

  • Bills (-210)
  • Falcons (+100)
  • Ravens (-430)
  • Bears (-245)
  • Texans (-165)
  • Patriots (-240)
  • Packers (-195)
  • Buccaneers (-430)
  • Eagles (-350)
  • Jaguars (+115)
  • Raiders (+260)
  • Seahawks (-215)
  • Commanders (+172)
  • 49ers (-1100)
  • Chiefs (-310)
  • Giants (+265)

The Texans lost a back-and-forth matchup with the Bills in Week 1, but Houston can get back on track with a major win over the Bengals. Cincinnati’s offensive line will struggle to slow down the Texans’ pass rush, and Joe Burrow is not mobile enough to evade them for four quarters.

Seattle has to play Week 2 without QB Sam Darnold. However, the Seahawks defense is skilled enough to take over this matchup against the Cardinals and help Seattle start 2-0. Also, Drew Lock showed last week that he can run Seattle’s offense and has had extra time to prepare for this matchup after Wednesday’s win.

The Giants (+265) upset the Cowboys on SNF and have a chance at another prime time this week against the Rams in LA. New York’s run-heavy scheme will be problematic for a jet-lagged Rams team missing multiple stars on its d-line.
