The NBA is always looking to grow in popularity, and sometimes that means expanding into new territories. One of those potential territories is Las Vegas.

We’ve already seen the NFL’s Oakland Raiders relocate to Las Vegas, and the MLB’s Oakland Athletics could be next. There are also some rumors that a potential NBA team could be there in the future.

It is unknown who might relocate to Las Vegas or if an expansion team will start their franchise there. What is known, however, is that the top NBA betting sites are offering the Las Vegas NBA team name odds, should it ever come to fruition.

Here are the Las Vegas NBA team name odds from Bovada. As you can see, the Outlaws and the Supersonics are the favored options. It’s not a surprise at all to see these desert-themed names on the list.

What is a surprise, however, is that the Supersonics are high on the list. The Oklahoma City Thunder were previously known as the Seattle Supersonics. It would be odd and a bit lazy for the new team to be named after a previous one, don’t you think?

Over the years, there have been a decent amount of name changes throughout the major sports. Charlotte bounced around with the “Hornets” title, Cleveland rebranded to the Guardians, and Washington changed to the Commanders.

Adam Silver said that Las Vegas is a great spot for a team, but it’s not on the “front burner.” We are still a long way from this becoming a real thing, but there’s a chance to win some real money here.

A lot of different people have an interest, from the NBA’s commissioner to even some players. LeBron James is probably the most invested player and could become the team’s owner.

He wants to keep playing for a few more years, but that actually matches up well with the projected timeline here. Could LeBron become an owner the year after he retires? I wouldn’t bet against it.

When you look at the Las Vegas NBA team names list, a couple of options at the top tend to stand out. The Outlaws and Supersonics are the favorites, but I don’t think the Supersonics makes for a strong wager.

Let’s look deeper at the top picks for the Las Vegas NBA expansion team name.

My top Las Vegas basketball team names are the Outlaws, Spades, Vultures, and Jokers. These are some on-brand names that fit with the city’s location perfectly. The Wild West theme would be amazing for a team located in Las Vegas.

As I said, the Supersonic title doesn’t do it for me. It would make more sense for the Thunder to be rebranded as the Supersonics, but I don’t see that happening either. Maybe the Las Vegas NBA team name odds were priced that way just to entice some hopeful Supersonic fans.

The Vipers are another team toward the top, but the XFL has a team with the same name. I would also avoid the Lions and Devils, as those are already two team names from other major sports.

So, I would put the Spades, Vultures, and Jokers as my next top picks after the Outlaws. The Spades and Jokers would have incredible logos based around a playing card. There are a lot of bird-themed team names around the major sports, so the Vultures could also make sense.

In the end, there are a lot of Las Vegas basketball team names to choose from. That said, the Outlaws, Spades, Vultures, and Jokers are my top contenders.

When it comes down to it, betting on what the Vegas NBA team name will be is going to be difficult. It usually doesn’t make a lot of sense to bet on something this risky and not get a good return on your investment.

That’s why it’s a good idea to consider betting on a sleeper pick. You are taking a risk, so you might as well get your money’s worth.

There are a good amount of longshots that make sense, but I find the Invaders the most appealing pick.

As you might know, Area 51 is located in Nevada, and many wild UFO cases have been traced here throughout history. The Pentagon is reportedly reviewing 650 UFO incidents, which certainly sparks the imagination.

You probably know a few people who love the mystery behind aliens. If not, you can count me as one of them.

I know for a fact that they would have an amazing logo and a cool mascot. The NBA expansion is all about growing the fanbase. If they named the new Las Vegas team after aliens, I bet they would get a lot of new supporters.

The Bighorns is another team name to consider here, especially considering the price (+1600). Bighorn sheep are the state animal of Nevada and are common to the mountains around Las Vegas.

I would consider the Invaders and Bighorns if you’re looking for some sleeper team names with more bang for your buck.

There’s a good chance that the eventual team name isn’t even on our list. It’s not like the team owners are looking at these names exclusively. So, what other team names could they consider?

The five team names above are my favorites. They all have a desert theme, or they tie into the city of Las Vegas very well.

For starters, Scorpions, Owls, and Rattlesnakes are three great animal team names that make a lot of sense. The desert is filled with these types of creatures, so it would make sense to name the new basketball team after one of them.

Many professional teams are named after birds, so the Owls could work. I think we can do better than that, however. The Scorpions and Rattlesnakes would be awesome team names.

The arena could be filled with rattlesnake sounds by the fans to distract the opposing team at the free throw line. A lot of people fear snakes, so this could actually help the home team out by a fair amount.

There’s also a chance that they name the team the Desert. I think the Sandstorm would be a cooler version of that. We already know they would have a killer theme song.

The Gamblers would be a fitting name for a Las Vegas team. Las Vegas is known for its gambling atmosphere, so why not buy into it even more? There’s also a good chance you stumbled across this blog because you’re a gambler as well.

In that case, you might have a new favorite NBA team in a few years.

These team names are not available at the top NBA betting apps, but maybe that will change soon.
