Bruno Mars Addresses Gambling Debt Rumors at Las Vegas Concert
Multi-talented pop star Bruno Mars kicked off The Romantic Tour, his first solo tour since 2017, with a dynamic performance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 10. The 40-year-old superstar also addressed his gambling performance during playful banter with Silk Sonic partner Anderson .Paak.
Bruno Mars Gambling Debt Rumor Explained
Mars has plenty of history in Vegas. He had a residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM from 2016 to 2025, performing more than 100 shows and raking in nearly $200 million in ticket sales. With so much time spent in Sin City, it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that Mars may have spent time at high-stakes tables. Well, allegedly, he racked up more than $50 million in gambling debt at MGM.
The long-running rumor stemmed from a NewsNation report in March 2024. Citing an anonymous source, the publication claimed MGM paid Mars $90 million per year during his residency, but he was using this to pay off his gambling debt. MGM denied the allegations a week later.
“From his shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM to the new Pinky Ring lounge at Bellagio, Bruno’s brand of entertainment attracts visitors from around the globe,” MGM wrote in a statement. “MGM and Bruno’s partnership is longstanding and rooted in mutual respect. Any speculation otherwise is completely false; he has no debt with MGM.”
Representatives for Mars refused to comment on the rumor.
Bruno Mars Address Rumors on Stage
While Mars and his team were initially coy about gambling debt rumors, the Grammy-winning artist first made reference to the claims in a July 2025 Instagram post. Sharing a video of his appearance during a BLACKPINK show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Mars captioned “Almost out of debt BehhhhhBehhhhh!!! Preciate You ROSAAAAYYYYYY!!!!”
Mars doubled down during the first stop of The Romantic Tour in Nevada. Anderson .Paak, during conversation between songs, joked, “I hate to make this about me, but when I think about how much debt, I mean how many steps it took to get here, I get emotional.”
That quip drew a chuckle from Mars, who returned: “Andy, I’m sorry you’re going through all that. See, I’m debt-free. I paid the casino off a long time ago.”
The Romantic Tour has 78 dates at major stadiums in North America and Europe. If there is validity to the gambling debt rumors, Mars shouldn’t have any trouble paying up by the end of the tour in December.
