UFC 329 is a 14-fight event that is capped off by a five-fight main card. There are no title fights, but the explosive personalities promise an exciting night of fights.

The main event pits McGregor against Holloway in a rematch of their 2013 clash. McGregor won the first fight by unanimous decision (UD), but he is a +180 underdog at UFC betting sites ahead of this weekend’s fight.

Holloway has been significantly more active than McGregor over the last five years, so it is not surprising that Blessed is a -218 favorite.

2020 Olympic gold medalist and two-time NCAA Division 1 national champion Gable Steveson is the heaviest favorite of the night at -2500. Steveson is making his UFC debut and will face Elisha Ellison (+1200) on the prelims.

Farid Basharat was supposed to fight Ethyn Ewing, but Ewing had to pull out due to injury. Basharat will now face John Garza, but the odds for this replacement fight have not yet been posted.

UFC 329 Main and Co-Main Event Preview

Icon of mma
  • Benoit Saint Denis (-138) vs. Paddy Pimblett (+116)
  • Conor McGregor (+180) vs. Max Holloway (-218)

Paddy Pimblett (23-4) has a chance to bounce back from his first-ever UFC loss. Pimblett is scheduled to face Benoit Saint Denis (17-3) in the co-main event at UFC 329.

Saint Denis is a slight favorite at -138, while Paddy the Baddy is available at +116 odds.

Pimblett had been on a 7-0 tear to start his UFC career before losing to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324. It was the third decision loss of Pimblett’s career. He is 6-0 in fights decided by knockout and 11-1 in fights that end in submissions.

Saint Denis is also a great grappler with 11 submission wins on his resume. Like Pimblett, Sain Denis has six KO wins in his career. He has also only gone the distance once in his entire career.

The main event should draw plenty of attention, too, for one reason: Conor McGregor. Once the biggest star in the sport, McGregor has lost three of his last four UFC fights. He is returning to the UFC for his first fight in five years after breaking his leg in his last fight.

McGregor’s opponent is someone he should be familiar with. Max Holloway took over the Featherweight division when McGregor made the jump to Lightweight in 2016. McGregor beat Holloway in 2013, but Holloway has come a long way in the 10+ years since their first meeting.

After losing to McGregor, Holloway reeled off a 13-fight winning streak that included claiming the Featherweight belt. Holloway was swept in a trilogy against Alexander Volkanovski, but he has been nearly unstoppable against everyone else.

Blessed is a gifted striker with 12 KO wins in his career. McGregor is also known for his boxing and has 19 KO wins in MMA.

Best Bets for UFC 329

Icon of mma
  • Terrance McKinney (-147)
  • Cory Sandhagen (-143)

King Green (35-17-1) is one of the most experienced fighters on the UFC roster, but he is well past his prime. Terrance McKinney (18-8) is the -147 favorite, and he will beat Green this weekend.

McKinney, for better or worse, has never had a fight go to decision. He is also skilled wherever the fight goes, with nine KOs and nine submission wins to his name.

Green’s recent success has come against fighters who are also at the end of their careers, like Jeremy Stephens. McKinney will end Green’s 3-fight winning streak this weekend.

Cory Sandhagen is also a good favorite to bet on this Saturday. He is listed as the -143 favorite for his fight against Mario Bautista (+122).

Both fighters lost their recent fights against Umar Nurmagomedov by decision. Sandhagen also lost in his last outing, falling to Merab Dvalishvili by UD with the Bantamweight belt on the line.

This is a classic striker versus grappler matchup, with Sandhagen’s 8-0 record in fights decided by KO against Bautista’s 7-1 submission record. Bautista has finished fewer than half of his UFC opponents, though, and Sandhagen’s struggles have come against higher-level challengers.

With that in mind, I believe Sandhagen will prove the better fighter this weekend and leave UFC 329 with a win.

Top UFC 329 Upset Picks

Icon of mma
  • César Almeida (+183)
  • Nikita Krylov (+126)

César Almeida is a +183 underdog against Damian Pinas (-218), but I believe Almeida will get the win on Saturday.

Pinas only loss in his career was by DQ, and he is 1-0 so far in the UFC. Almeida has been competing in the Octagon for longer and, despite being at a reach advantage, his striking should help him KO Pinas this weekend.

Nikita Krylov (+126) is another underdog worth betting on at UFC 329 as he takes on former Middleweight champ Robert Whittaker (-150) at 205 pounds. Whitaker is 2-3 in his last five fights, including back-to-back losses, and is making his LH debut.

Krylov is the 14th-ranked LH and has 29 finishes in his career. He is far from the most consistent 205-pounder, losing two of his last three fights, but Krylov is skilled enough to handle the undersized Whittaker this weekend.

  • Alessandro Costa (-265)
  • Ryan Gandra (-136)
  • César Almeida (+183)
  • Tracy Cortez (-105)
  • Luke Riley (-305)
  • Adrian Yanez (-415)
  • Gable Steveson (-2500)
  • Nikita Krylov (+126)
  • Terrance McKinney (-147)
  • Lone’er Kavanagh (-218)
  • Cory Sandhagen (-143)
  • Paddy Pimblett (+116)
  • Max Holloway (-218)

Gable Steveson (-2500) is not an exciting favorite to bet on, but the Olympic gold medalist is set up for a win this weekend. The second he gets his hands on Elisha Ellison, this fight is likely over. He will take Ellison down and use ground-and-pound to improve to 4-0.

Paddy Pimblett (+116) could not have drawn a tougher opponent for a fight after his first UFC loss. Saint Denis and Pimblett have similar resumes, but Pimblett has more to lose going into this fight. He has had six months to recover from his loss to Gaethje, and a win will put Pimblett back on the road to a title shot.

Conor McGregor is still a great trash talker, but that is the only edge he has left over Max Holloway. Blessed (-218) has been more successful and more active than McGregor over the last decade. Holloway should smoke McGregor this weekend for his 24th UFC win.

UFC 329 Betting Tips & Strategy

Here are some strategy tips to consider before betting on UFC 329 odds.

Ring Rust and Distractions are Bad

Time away from fighting can be essential to healing. However, too much time away can cause your skills to diminish. Outside distractions, such as McGregor’s multiple legal battles, also negatively affect fighters’ performances.

Moving Weight Classes is Challenging

Changing weight classes is common in MMA, especially for older fighters. However, moving up too far makes it challenging to stay competitive. Robert Whittaker, who started his UFC career at 170 pounds, will have to overcome this challenge as he makes his 205-pound debut this weekend.
