Top NFL Player Props for Week 8
Lucky Rebel sportsbook provides odds on dozens of player props for every game. Here are my favorite player props for Week 8.
Jaylen Waddle Anytime TD Scorer (+180)
The Miami Dolphins have been nothing short of a disappointment this year. At 1-6, any hopes the Dolphins have of turning their season around hinge on this week’s game.
Miami faces the Falcons in Atlanta this weekend. Atlanta is 2-1 at home this season, but they are also coming off a disappointing loss at San Francisco last week.
The Falcons allow the fewest passing yards in the league, giving up just 141.2 YPG through the air. On the other hand, the Dolphins’ porous defense means they must throw the ball to keep up with their opponents.
With Tyreek Hill out for the season, Jaylen Waddle has assumed WR1 duties for the Dolphins. Waddle has three TDs this season but has not scored in back-to-back weeks. He needs to get back in the end zone this week if the Dolphins have any chance of securing an upset this week.
Dalton Kincaid 1st Drive Reception (+150)
Another team looking to end their losing streak is the Bills, who have dropped back-to-back games after their 4-0 start. Buffalo had a bye last week to reset and get healthy for a surprisingly tough matchup with Carolina.
The Panthers are undefeated at home this season. If Buffalo wants to end that streak, its offense must play better than it did in its previous two outings.
Dalton Kincaid has missed one game this season, but he still leads the team with 287 receiving yards. He also has 20 receptions on 24 targets and has scored three receiving TDs, the most of any Bills player this season.
Getting Kincaid involved early will help the Bills’ offense start strong. The talented TE is listed at +150 to have a reception on Buffalo’s first drive this weekend.
Harold Fannin Jr. Anytime TD Scorer (+300)
Another TE set up for a productive Sunday in Week 8 is Cleveland’s Harold Fannin Jr. The rookie TE is available at +300 odds to score a touchdown this week against the Patriots.
Fannin Jr. has 32 catches on 43 targets for 290 so far in his debut season. Despite leading the Browns in receiving yards, Fannin Jr. has just one receiving TD so far. On the bright side, Fannin Jr. has at least four receptions every game that fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel has started at quarterback.
Cleveland faces a tough matchup this weekend against the Patriots. New England will commit considerable resources to shutting down Quinshon Judkins and the Browns’ running game. Judkins put up three TDs last week and is Cleveland’s best offensive weapon.
With the defense focused on shutting down Judkins, Fannin Jr. should have an easier time finding the endzone this week for his second TD of the season.
Jonathan Taylor’s Longest Rush Attempt Over 19.5 Yards (-105)
The Colts’ 6-1 start has been one of the most surprising parts of the NFL season thus far. What has not been surprising is sixth-year RB Jonathan Taylor’s continued dominance.
Taylor leads the NFL in the following categories:
The Colts’ running back should continue his Offensive Player of the Year campaign this week against the Titans. Tennessee allows 139.6 rushing YPG, and Taylor has at least one carry for 20+ yards in four of his seven starts this season. With that in mind, I think Taylor will cover the over of 19.5 yards in this Week 8 player prop.
Best Week 8 NFL Game Prop Bets
The top NFL betting sites are also loaded with game props for this week’s most anticipated games.
Chicago Bears Win Both Halves (+900)
The Bears look to build on their four-game winning streak with a road date against the Ravens in Baltimore this weekend. Despite being 1-5 and sporting the worst scoring defense in the league, the Ravens are home favorites this week.
Lucky Rebel has the Ravens laying 6.5 points against the Bears this weekend.
Lamar Jackson missed Baltimore’s final two games before its Week 7 bye due to a hamstring strain. Jackson returned to practice this week in a limited capacity.
Even if Jackson is back in the lineup, he is unlikely to be at 100%. Also, the Ravens’ league-worst scoring defense has been their Achilles’ heel all year. It does not matter how healthy Jackson is if the defense cannot slow down the Bears’ offense, which has scored 25+ points in four straight games.
Not only will Chicago secure the upset win, but the Bears will win both halves against Baltimore this week.
Dallas Cowboys Score 1st (+102)
Another underdog poised to secure an upset this week is Dallas. The Cowboys easily covered their Week 7 prop odds, but they are 3.0-point underdogs on the road against the Broncos.
Denver overcame a 19-0 fourth-quarter deficit last week to beat the Giants. They also came back from down 17-3 in the final frame to beat the Eagles in Week 5. While they are 2-0 against the NFC East this year, those wins also emphasize the Broncos’ offensive struggles early in games.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, have the second-best scoring offense in the league, averaging 31.7 PPG this season. Denver’s tendency to start slow, combined with Dallas’s high-scoring offense, makes Dallas the best bet to score first this weekend.
San Francisco 49ers -2.5 (+125)
The 5-2 San Francisco 49ers are also road underdogs this week as they take on the Texans (2-4) in Houston.
Houston is favored by 2.0 points at home, but I think the 49ers will win and cover this alternate spread of -2.5.
The Texans’ offense has been unwatchable this season. Houston’s lack of scoring output has been so low that the team has lost four of its first six games despite allowing a league-low 14.7 PPG this season.
San Fran averages fewer points than the Texans, scoring just 20.7 PPG to Houston’s 21.2. However, the Texans’ average is skewed by their 44-10 win over the Ravens in Week 5.
The 49ers offense has had its struggles, but Christian McCaffrey and Mac Jones have played well enough week-to-week to keep San Fran in most of its games. Whether Jones starts this week or not, the 49ers will win by at least a field goal.
Packers Win and Over 40.5 Total Points(+130)
The Sunday Night Football matchup between the Packers and the Steelers was circled by many as one of the must-see games this season. It will be Aaron Rodgers’ first time facing his former team.
Rodgers and the Steelers are 3.0-point home underdogs against the Packers.
Green Bay’s offense has disappointed at times this season, but it averages more points and yards per game than Pittsburgh. Also, the Packers’ defense allows just 20.8 PPG, while the Steelers give up 23.3 PPG and have allowed three different teams to drop 30+ points.
The total points for this game is set at over/under 45.0 points, but you can bet on the Packers to win and an alternative, lower total of 40.5 points with this game prop. Green Bay will win, and the lower total makes this wager a lock for Week 8.
Week NFL Prop Betting Trends and Tips
Here are two betting tips and trends to consider when picking your Week 8 NFL props.
Injured Players Do Not Play As Well
This tip sounds obvious. But many bettors forget that players coming back from injury are likely to struggle as they get back into rhythm and playing shape. Lamar Jackson, for instance, is almost certainly going to be limited by his injured hamstring this week, hurting the Ravens’ chances of covering a huge 6.5-point spread against Chicago.
Byes Give Teams Extra Time to Prepare
The middle part of the NFL season gives some teams distinct advantages thanks to the timing of their bye weeks. The best coaches know how to maximize their byes, and it shows on the field. Sean McDermott, for instance, is 8-0 as the Bills’ coach after a bye.
