UKAI-Assisted Baccarat Side Bets Raise New Risks for Asian Casinos

Side Bets Bring Big Profits & Bigger Risks
Baccarat side bets make up a small part of total betting, but they can bring in a large share of casino revenue. Casino analytics firm Differential Labs estimates that side bets account for about 5% of betting volume while contributing 40%–60% of baccarat revenue at many casinos.
That also makes these bets a target for skilled players. Smart table technology has helped casinos offer more side bets, but it has also created more chances for players to study betting patterns.
Differential Labs’ study found that advantage play leakage is costing baccarat casinos at least $500 million annually.
AI Helps Players Find Better Bets
AI and computer-assisted counting can help players find side bets that may offer a math advantage. Differential Labs says these methods can increase profits compared with betting the same amount on every hand.
One strategy, called portfolio counting, tracks several side bets at once. Players then bet only when one of those options becomes favorable. Instead of finding only a few good chances during a baccarat shoe, players may find several more.
Some side bets for baccarat and baccarat variants may be more at risk than others, including High Tie-0, Dragon Seven, Four Card Tie, and Macau’s Monkey/No Monkey, the latter of which is one of the easiest to track.
Skilled advantage players can reportedly boost their odds by 46% on Macau’s Money/No Monkey compared with random picks, without needing computer assistance, although the wager’s volatility can reduce the practical value of that edge.
Casinos Turn to AI for Defense
Differential Labs says AI-assisted counting has become increasingly common since 2021. Some teams may use several people, off-site help, and betting software to track games and manage wagers.
Electronic table games may also face more risk because one player can watch several games at the same time. Casinos may respond by using AI tools of their own to spot unusual betting behavior and react faster.
