Khamzat Chimaev (c) vs. Sean StricklandKhamzat Chimaev (-600)Sean Strickland (+425)

The top UFC betting sites list Sean Strickland as a +425 underdog in Saturday’s main event. Khamzat Chimaev, on the other hand, is one of the biggest favorites on the card at -600 odds to retain his Middleweight belt.

In the co-main event title fight, Joshua Van is listed at +138 odds to continue his reign as the Flyweight Champion. Challenger Tatsuro Taira is listed as the -165 favorite to win the title. This was originally scheduled for UFC 327 but had to be rescheduled after Van was injured.

The biggest favorite on this weekend’s card is Ateba Gautier, who is listed at -1100 to beat Ozzy Diaz (+665). Conversely, the smallest favorite is Sean Brady (18-2), who is available at -155 odds for his Welterweight fight against Joaquin Buckley (21-7, +130).

UFC 328 Main and Co-Main Event Preview

Icon of mma
  • Joshua Van (c) (+138) vs. Tatsuro Taira (-165)
  • Khamzat Chimaev (c) (-600) vs. Sean Strickland (+425)

Van won the Flyweight title at UFC 323, beating then-champion Alexandre Pantoja in just 26 seconds. Pantoja slipped after throwing a head kick, injuring his elbow, and was unable to continue.

This will be Van’s first title defense after his unusual title win. He has eight knockout wins and is 9-1 in the UFC.

Van will face Tatsuro Taira (18-1), who earned this title shot by defeating former champion Brandon Moreno. He is 8-1 in the UFC and has 14 finishes in his professional career. Tatsuro is two inches taller and has a five-inch reach advantage, which could prove the deciding factor if this fight stays on the feet.

Like Van, Khamzat Chimaev is also looking for his first successful title defense. The Middleweight champion is a -600 favorite to retain against Sean Strickland.

Chimaev (15-0) won the belt from Dricus Du Plessis, beating DDP by unanimous decision. Strickland is a former champion in this division, winning the belt from Israel Adesanya at UFC 293. However, Strickland lost the title in his first defense, dropping the belt to DDP.

Strickland also lost his rematch against Du Plessis at UFC 312.

Given Chimaev’s dominance over DDP, a guy who beat Strickland twice, it is easy to see why the champ is a heavy favorite. The undefeated Chimaev has 12 finishes in his 15 career fights, including six KOs and six submissions.

Best Bets for UFC 328

Icon of mma
  • Jared Gordon (-300)
  • King Green (-325)

My top bet for UFC 328 is Jared Gordon (21-8) to beat longtime MMA veteran Jim Miller (38-19). “Flash” Gordon is a -300 favorite against A-10 this weekend.

Miller is a legend of the sport, but he has been little more than a gatekeeper for the last decade. He is 27-18, 1 NC in his UFC tenure. Miller’s best asset is his grappling, which has earned him 21 career submission wins.

Gordon is not a great finisher, earning 11 of his 21 career wins by decision. However, if he can avoid a grappling contest with Miller, Gordon should walk away with a win over the UFC vet.

Another favorite that I like to win this weekend is King Green. Formerly known as Bobby Green, King is a -325 favorite over fellow UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens in the opening fight of the main card of UFC 328.

This fight is scheduled for the Lightweight division, which gives Green a major advantage. Green has been a Lightweight for the majority of his career, even dating back to his days as a champion in KOTC.

Stephens, on the other hand, has struggled to find a place in the Featherweight or Lightweight divisions. He is 15-19, 1 NC in his UFC career, and has not won in the Octagon since 2018. He has not won a Lightweight fight in the UFC since beating Danny Downes in the Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale in 2011.

Both vets have struggled in recent years, but Green is better at 155 pounds and will get his hand raised on Saturday.

Top UFC 328 Upset Picks

Icon of mma
  • Mateusz Rębecki (+134)
  • Waldo Cortes-Acosta (+146)

My favorite underdog for this weekend’s card is Mateusz Rębecki, available at +134 odds for his Lightweight fight against Grant Dawson (-160). Rębecki has lost three of his last four fights, but the Polish fighter has only been finished once since joining the UFC.

Dawson is 3-2 in his last five appearances and is coming off a first-round KO loss to Manuel Torres. He is at his best on the ground and has earned 13 of his 23 career wins via submission.

Rębecki is 7-0 in fights decided by submission and also has nine KO wins on his resume. He should have the edge wherever the fight goes, allowing him to secure a much-needed win and turn his UFC tenure around.

I also think Waldo Cortes-Acosta can pull off the upset this weekend. Cortes-Acosta is a +146 underdog against Alexander Volkov (-175) for their upcoming main card fight.

Volkov (39-11) is the second-ranked UFC heavyweight, and Cortes-Acosta (17-2) currently sits at fifth. Both heavyweights have knockout power, with Volkov boasting 24 KO wins to Cortes-Acosta’s nine.

Cortes-Acosta has never been stopped, though, and his two career losses both came via decision. Volkov has lost six times by decision, three times by submission, and twice by KO. He also has not finished an opponent since 2023.

Beating Volkov will not be easy, but Cortes-Acosta has the skills to get the job done. He has also been the far more active fighter, fighting six times since the start of 2025. His activity will give him the competitive edge, allowing Cortes-Acosta to upset Volkov this weekend.

Full UFC 328 Fight Card Predictions

  • Clayton Carpenter (+146)
  • Baisangur Susurkaev (-650)
  • Pat Sabatini (-190) vs.
  • Roman Kopylov (+174)
  • Jared Gordon (-300)
  • Mateusz Rębecki (+134)
  • Yaroslav Amosov (-170)
  • Ateba Gautier (-1100)
  • King Green (-325)
  • Sean Brady (-155)
  • Waldo Cortes-Acosta (+146)
  • Tatsuro Taira (-165)
  • Khamzat Chimaev (c) (-600)

Ateba Gautier is the largest favorite on the UFC 328 card at -1100 odds, implying a 91.67% win probability. The Cameroonian is 10-1, including a 4-0 start in the UFC ahead of his showdown with Ozzy Diaz. Gautier has a two-inch reach advantage, but it is his KO power that will give him the edge against Diaz on Saturday.

Tatsuro is favored to dethrone Van this weekend. The latter was recently injured, forcing this fight to be moved from UFC 327 to this weekend. If that injury affected Van’s training at all, Tatsuro will have a major advantage and likely win the fight.

Strickland has talked a lot of smack ahead of his title fight with Chimaev. Unfortunately, for Strickland, it is unlikely the former champ backs it up. Chimaev dismantled DDP, who beat Strickland twice since January 2024, and the champ will retain this weekend.

UFC 328 Betting Tips & Strategy

Here are some tips and strategies to consider before wagering on UFC 328.

Consider Common Opponents

MMA math can be tricky, and you should not overrate past performances. However, considering common opponents is an important step when picking the winner of a UFC fight.

Injuries Can Affect Training Schedules

Another tip for betting on UFC events is to stay up to date on fighters’ injuries. Camp injuries are common, but the wrong ones can seriously hinder a fighter’s ability to prepare. Bad training camps often lead to bad showings on fight night.
