The latest World Series odds favor the Los Angeles Dodgers to repeat as champions this year. Repeating as champion will be easier said than done, though, and the MLB has not had a repeat champion since the 2000 Yankees.
This guide discusses the latest MLB World Series odds. I will break down the current odds and give my prediction for the 2025 World Series winner. Also, I will highlight my top World Series prop bets.

The Dodgers are +190 favorites to win the 2025 World Series. LA is loaded with talent, but the defending champions face a troubling historical trend. No team since the 2000 Yankees has repeated as World Series champions.
After the Dodgers, the Toronto Blue Jays have the best odds in the AL at +325. Milwaukee (+425), Seattle (+650), and Detroit (+800) round out the top five.
Philadelphia, which is down 1-2 in the NLDS to the Dodgers at the time of writing, is listed at +925 to win the World Series. Chicago, which is also down 1-2 in its NLDS matchup against the Brewers, has the longest odds of any team at +1700.

Why are the LA Dodgers the World Series Favorites?
Los Angeles finished 98-64 in 2024, entering the playoffs as the top seed in the National League. The Dodgers ran through the playoffs, losing just five games en route to lifting the Commissioner’s Trophy.
This year, the Dodgers went 93-69, winning the NL West. However, they only finished third in the NL overall and had to play in the Wild Card round.
The Dodgers swept the Reds in the NLWC and won their first two games against the second-seeded Phillies in the NLDS. Philadelphia won game three, but the Dodgers are just one win away from booking their ticket to the NLCS.
The Dodgers have the most stacked roster remaining in the playoffs. A few of the superstars on LA’s championship-defending roster include:
- Shohei Ohtani
- Mookie Betts
- Freddie Freeman
- Teoscar Hernández
- Will Smith
Ohtani is the biggest star in the MLB and is the favorite to win the NL MVP again this season. If the two-way star plays like he did last year, the Dodgers are the best bet to become the first back-to-back World Series winners in over two decades.
Top World Series Contender
The Toronto Blue Jays (+325) have the best odds to dethrone the Dodgers as World Series champions. Toronto dominated the Yankees in their ALDS matchup, taking down New York in just four games.
In the regular season, the Blue Jays won 94 games, earning first place in the AL East and the top seed in the league. This is the Blue Jays’ first ALCS appearance since 2016.
Toronto’s postseason hopes hinge largely on the play of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The five-time All-Star had a productive regular season, including:
- 23 home runs
- 172 hits
- 96 runs
- 84 RBIs
Guerrero Jr. leads the Blue Jays in home runs (3), RBIs (9), and hits (9) through Toronto’s four postseason games. He needs to remain productive if the Blue Jays want to win their first World Series since 1993.
Of course, Guerrero Jr. cannot win the title by himself. Toronto’s other bats, including Ernie Clement and Daulton Varsho, need to stay hot. Their bullpen, which held the Yankees to two or fewer runs in two of their four games, also needs to keep playing well if they want to take down the Dodgers.
Best World Series Sleeper Pick
The Detroit Tigers (+800) have the fifth-best World Series odds. However, a dramatic win over Seattle in Game 4 kept the Tigers’ season alive. If Detroit can win in Game 5, it will advance to the ALDS to face the Blue Jays.
The Tigers are -140 favorites to win the decisive Game 5, but they have the longest odds to win the AL at +285. Seattle, which is a +115 home underdog in the game, is listed at +240 to win the AL.
Detroit went 3-4 against the Blue Jays this season, including losing three of their last four matchups. However, if they can return to their early-season form, the Tigers will be a tough out for Toronto.
2025 World Series Props

The Dodgers are the current World Series favorites, so it is not surprising that Shohei Ohtani is the +420 favorite to win World Series MVP. Fellow Dodgers Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are also among the favorites at +1700 and +2000, respectively.
Guerrero Jr has the second-best odds at 12-1. Seattle’s Cal Raleigh, who racked up 60 home runs in the regular season, has the third-best odds at +1500.
Freeman won the World Series MVP last year, but I think Ohtani will take home the award this season.

You can also wager on the exact matchup for this year’s World Series. The most likely matchup pits the Dodgers against the Blue Jays (+250). LA and Toronto are the favorites in their respective conferences.
Lucky Rebel lists a Brewers vs. Blue Jays series as the second-most likely outcome at +450. The Dodgers vs. Tigers and Dodgers vs. Mariners series are listed at +650 and +700, respectively.
Three of the top four options in this prop wager involve the Dodgers. However, who their opponent will be is still up in the air. The Tigers are my top underdog pick, and I think they will face off with the Dodgers in this year’s Fall Classic.

This bet allows you to bet on the winning league, regardless of your World Series pick. The National League is a -165 favorite over the American League (+125) in this prop.
Currently, the NL still has four teams alive in the playoffs. However, the AL is down to three after the Blue Jays eliminated the Yankees in four games. The NL also has two of the top three favorites, LA and Milwaukee, giving it an edge in this futures prop.
Having two of the top three favorites left in the playoffs makes the NL (-165) the best bet in this prop.

- Illinois (+1900)
- Any other state (-150)
Betting on the winning state is another popular prop bet for the World Series. California has the best 2025 World Series odds of any specific state in this prop. The Golden State is listed at +190, the same odds that the Dodgers, the only team from Cali left in the playoffs, have to repeat as World Series champions.
Pennsylvania has the next-best odds at +950, followed by Illinois (+1900).
The “any other state” option has the shortest odds at -150. This option includes Milwaukee (+425), Seattle (+650), and Detroit (+800). Getting multiple teams instead of just one gives this option a distinct advantage. On the other hand, the Dodgers are the best team, making Cali the best option in this wager.
2025 World Series Winner Prediction

The Dodgers were clearly the best team last season, and they have largely been the top team this year. LA did not have the best record in the NL this season, but they have dominated the Phillies so far in the NLDS. Despite going 0-6 against the Brewers in the regular season, the Dodgers will likely be favored over Milwaukee in the NLCS.
LA is the most talented team left in the playoffs and is my World Series prediction. Their depth carried the Dodgers to a title last year, and it will earn them another championship this year.
