Then, Carlos Prates is a favorite as he takes on veteran Leon Edwards, and Michael Morales is the underdog as he puts his undefeated record on the line against Sean Brady.
In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko is a -128 favorite against Weili Zhang. This is Shevchenko’s 12th consecutive fight for the Flyweight title.
Finally, the main event pits Jack Della Maddalena against Islam Makhachev for the Welterweight title. Della Maddalena is a +220 underdog in his first title defense. This will be Makhachev’s first fight since vacating the Lightweight title in May.

UFC 322 Main Event Preview
The two best women in the UFC today face off on Saturday. Valentina Shevchenko and Weili Zhang are ranked number one and two in the Women’s Pound for Pound standings.
Shevchenko is the most successful Women’s Flyweight champion in the company’s history. Her first reign started at UFC 231 and included seven successful defenses over her 1,500+ day reign. Shevchenko was submitted at UFC 285, but after a draw in her rematch, Shevchenko beat Alexa Grasso in the rubber match to regain her belt.
She beat Manon Fiorot at UFC 315 to kick off her new reign, and now Shevchenko will look to beat Weili Zhang. Like Shevchenko, Zhang was dominant at 115 pounds. Zhang held the Strawweight belt for over 1,600 days across her two reigns and had four successful title defenses before dropping the belt to move up to 125 pounds.
Similarly, Islam Makhachev vacated the 155-pound belt after a dominant 980 days as champion. He takes on Jack Della Maddalena for the Welterweight title in the latter’s first title defense. Della Maddalena won the title from Belal Muhammad at UFC 315 in Muhammad’s first attempt at defending the belt.
Regardless of who wins, the UFC brass is hoping for a better finish than UFC 321, which had its main event end in a no-contest.
Best Bets for UFC 322
My UFC 322 best bets start with Carlos Prates, who is a -190 favorite against Leon Edwards this weekend. Prates is ranked ninth in the Welterweight division, but a win over the fourth-ranked Edwards could propel him into the title picture.
He has won 12 of his last 13 fights, with Prates’ only loss in that stretch coming against Ian Machado Garry in April. Prates is 5-1 in the UFC, with all five of his wins coming via knockout.
Edwards is the former champion at 170 pounds, but he has lost back-to-back fights. He has never been knocked out, but that could change against Prates this weekend.
In the main event, Islam Makhachev is a -275 favorite to dethrone Jack Della Maddalena and take the 170 pound crown. Makhachev has won 15 consecutive fights, including five straight title fights. He has 11 finishes in his 16 UFC wins.
Jumping up from 155 to 170 pounds is easier said than done. However, Makhachev’s wrestling should translate and help him shut down a striker like Della Maddalena. Expect another dominant grappling display in a winning effort for Makhachev this weekend.
Top UFC 322 Upset Picks
Not every favorite is a good bet to win at UFC 322. My top two underdogs on the main card are Michael Morales (+117) and Weili Zhang (+108).
Morales (18-0) is undefeated, but he faces a massive challenge against Sean Brady (18-1). Brady is coming off a submission win over Leon Edwards in March. Morales has won six straight fights to start his UFC career, with his most recent win coming via TKO in round one against Gilbert Burns.
In 14 of his 18 career wins, Morales finished his opponents. His 6.5-inch reach advantage will be the key to Morales’s upset win this weekend.
Weili Zhang is a +108 underdog against the legendary Valentina Shevchenko (c) in the co-main event. This fight should be a battle of two of the best strikers in Women’s MMA history.
Shevchenko has a slight size advantage, but she is also not as dominant as she used to be. She has 15 finishes in her career, but Shevchenko has not stopped an opponent since 2021. Allowing Zhang to hang around will be Shevchenko’s undoing this weekend.
Stepping up in weight is hard, but Zhang is one of the best fighters of all time. She has 19 finishes in her career and can hang with Shevchenko wherever this fight goes.
Full UFC 322 Fight Card Predictions
The undefeated Baisangur Susurkaev (10-0) earned a submission win in his UFC debut at UFC 319. He is the heaviest favorite on this weekend’s card at -1100. Susurkaev will improve to 2-0 this weekend with a win over Eric McConico this weekend.
Another relatively safe bet this weekend is Fatima Kline, who is a -500 favorite against Angela Hill. Hill has a massive experience advantage, but at 18-15, she is little more than a gatekeeper at this stage in her career. Kline will pick up the win and take another step toward contender status.
Gerald Meerschaert (37-20) has lost five of his last seven fights, including three straight defeats. Kyle Daukaus (16-4), on the other hand, recently returned to the UFC and is riding a five-fight winning streak. His time away from the promotion helped Daukaus reset, and he will pick up his fourth career win in the Octagon this weekend.
UFC 322 Betting Tips & Strategy
Consider these tips and strategies before betting on your UFC 322 predictions.
Fighting Styles and Changing Weight Classes
The co-main and main event bouts feature fighters who vacated titles to move up and challenge for new belts. Bettors should factor in how adding weight can affect a fighter. Of course, comparing fighting styles, especially in Della Maddalena (c) vs. Makhachev, is also an important step.
Consider “Big Fight” Experience
The UFC attracts the best fighters in the world, and the step-up in competition can trip many fighters up. Fighting on a PPV main card or in a main event, which has five rounds instead of three, can also be a hurdle that younger fighters struggle with. Della Maddalena is the least experienced of the four fighters in the main and co-main events.
Betting on UFC 322
UFC 322 is headlined by two exciting title fights featuring three of the most dominant champions in UFC history. My top bet for this weekend’s PPV card is for Islam Makhachev (-275) to regain UFC gold by defeating Welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena. Makhachev’s grappling will overwhelm the champion on Saturday.
