Barkley only has three 100+ yard rushing games against Dallas in his career. However, in his last game against the Cowboys, Barkley racked up 167 yards on the ground. Also, with Micah Parsons’ contract dispute still ongoing, Dallas could be without its best defensive weapon.
The Eagles’ offense, especially Barkley, should be dominant in Week 1 against a short-handed Cowboys defense.
Omarion Hampton Anytime TD Scorer (+110)
Another running back looking to make a big impression in Week 1 is rookie Omarion Hampton. The Chargers drafted Hampton in the first round to pair with free agent signee Najee Harris. However, Harris is questionable for the season opener against Kansas City after injuring himself with a firework this summer.
Hampton will need to pick up the slack if Harris is not ready to go. The first round pick is listed at +110 odds to score a touchdown against the Chiefs.
Kansas City only allowed 13 rushing TDs last season, and just one rushing score in their two games against the Chargers. However, LA proved last year that they are committed to running the ball. Hampton should see plenty of work in Week 1, including finding the endzone in his NFL debut.
Mike Evans 1st TD Scorer for Buccaneers (+330)
You can also wager on Week 1 NFL props for the first touchdown scorer for a given team. For instance, Mike Evans is listed at +330 to be the Buccaneers’ first TD scorer against the Falcons.
Evans has the second-best odds to be the Bucs’ first TD scorer, behind only Bucky Irving (+185).
He has 13 touchdowns in his 19 career games against the Falcons. Evans caught five passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns in his lone appearance against Atlanta last season.
The veteran receiver has also been Baker Mayfield’s favorite target in Tampa Bay, leading the team in receiving yards since Mayfield took over as quarterback. With Chris Godwin’s status up in the air, Evans could see increased targets in Week 1.
Josh Allen 1st TD Scorer (+625)
Rounding out my Week 1 NFL player props is Josh Allen to be the first touchdown scorer in Ravens vs. Bills. Allen is listed at +625 to score the first touchdown in this divisional round playoff rematch.
Allen is the reigning MVP and has had 27 rushing scores over the last two regular seasons. He ran for 12 touchdowns last season. In their playoff match last season, Allen had two rushing scores in a winning effort for Buffalo.
The Bills’ passing game once again lacks star playmakers, and Allen needs to play at an MVP level for Buffalo to contend. Allen can get Buffalo’s season off on the right foot by scoring early against Baltimore.
Best Week 1 NFL Game Prop Bets

Bengals vs. Browns Total Points Under 30 (+575)
Cincinnati has one of the most explosive offenses in the league. However, the Bengals are just 2-10 in the first two weeks of the season since hiring Zac Taylor. The team is also just 3-5 against Cleveland with Joe Burrow under center.
Bovada has the total set at over 46.5 points, but you can wager on the score being under 30 points at +575 odds. For reference, Cincinnati swept the Browns last year, winning 21-14 and 24-6 in weeks 7 and 16, respectively.
The expectations for Cleveland’s offense, even against a below-average defense like Cincy’s, are low. Cincinnati’s tendency to start slowly and the Browns’ low expectations in general signal a low-scoring opener.
Denver Wins Both Halves Against Tennessee (+170)
The Broncos are the heaviest favorite at -8.0 points in the latest NFL Week 1 odds. Denver has one of the best home-field advantages in the NFL, and the Titans had the worst record in the NFL last season. Tennessee is also starting a rookie quarterback, the number one overall pick, Cam Ward.
It is challenging to think of a tougher test for Ward’s debut than one of the stingiest defenses in the league. The Broncos allowed only 18.3 points per game last year, which was the third-fewest in the NFL. They also led the league with 63 sacks.
Denver is favored by 4.5 points (-110) for the first half and 8.0 points (-120) for the game. I think the Broncos will win both halves, making this game prop the best value at +170.
Green Bay Packers Win by 1-6 Points (+250)
The final wager on my list of NFL props for Week 1 is for Green Bay to beat Detroit by 1-6 points (+250). For reference, the Packers are favored by 2.0 points in this divisional matchup.
Detroit swept the Packers last season, but the Lions are due to take a step back this season. They were 15-2 last year but lost both their OC and DC. Learning a new offense is tricky, and Jared Goff and company are likely to start slow as they try to master their new scheme.
The downside of this wager is that you still lose if the Packers win by a touchdown or more. However, divisional games, especially in the NFC North, are typically close. Green Bay will win, but only by 1-6 points (+250).
