The 2025 NFL season opens with a marquee matchup between the Cowboys and the reigning champion Eagles. Dallas could be without star pass rusher Micah Parsons, who wants a new contract. Philadelphia is a touchdown favorite at home on banner night.
Like last year, this season’s opening week also features an exciting game in Brazil. The Chargers are three-point underdogs as they host the Chiefs in Sao Paulo.
Sunday features 13 of the 16 games for opening weekend, including the highly anticipated rematch between Baltimore and Buffalo. The Bills are 1.5-point favorites over the Ravens for the first Sunday Night Football game of the season.

Here are my top Week 1 NFL picks available at the best NFL betting sites.
Top Week 1 NFL Picks Straight Up
Starting off my NFL game picks for Week 1 are my top three moneyline predictions. I think the Chiefs (-175), Commanders (-270), and the Falcons (+105) will also win their season openers.
Kansas City is coming off a brutal loss in Super Bowl 59. A Week 1 matchup with LA is the perfect way for the KC to get back in the win column. Patrick Mahomes is 10-2 against the Chargers in his career, and he has never lost as the road team.
The Commanders will also start their season off with a much needed win over a divisional opponent. Washington swept New York last year and Jayden Daniels should be better this season.
Finally, the Falcons, who are slight underdogs at +105, will beat the Buccaneers. Atlanta swept the Bucs last year, and their offense should be better with Michael Penix Jr. as the unquestioned QB1.
Week 1 NFL Picks ATS
Next on my list NFL predictions for Week 1 are my top ATS picks. I think the Cowboys, Titans, and Packers will all cover.
Dallas will be in trouble in Philly if Micah Parsons does not suit up. However, I think he will get a new deal by opening day, and the line will move dramatically afterward. So, you should bet on the Cowboys +7.0 before that happens to lock in the value.
Tennessee is the biggest underdog of opening weekend at +7.5. Denver’s defense is one of the top units in the league, but many teams are still rounding into form in Week 1, which I think will allow the Titans to cover the spread.
Green Bay is listed at -1.5 for their opener against NFC North rival Detroit. The Lions lost both coordinators this offseason and are due to take a step back. Jordan Love and company will beat the defending division champs in Week 1.
Best Week 1 NFL Upset Picks
Opening weekend is usually rife with upsets, and my top underdogs for NFL Week 1 are the Browns, the Jets, and the Dolphins.
Cleveland (+210) has a 5-3 record against the Bengals when Joe Burrow starts. Also, Burrow is just 1-11 in the first two weeks of the season in his career. The Browns also have the advantage at the line of scrimmage and will win in Week 1.
New York is a +140 home underdog against the Steelers in Week 1. Aaron Rodgers won just four games at MetLife during his two years with Gang Green. Rodgers has worse weapons now that he is a Steeler and will start 0-1 in Pittsburgh.
Miami’s (+110) injury issues and cold weather have derailed the Dolphins’ postseason hopes under Mike McDaniel. However, the Dolphins are relatively healthy, the weather is warm, and they are playing indoors. Also, the Colts are starting Daniel Jones, who is 22-44-1 in the regular season.
NFL Week 1 Predictions
Arizona (-260) has one of the easiest matchups of any road team as they take on the Saints. New Orleans has major questions at the quarterback position after Derek Carr’s surprise retirement this offseason. Also, the Cardinals should have an edge at the line of scrimmage after the injuries to multiple Saints OL starters this preseason.
Seattle’s remodeled offense will immediately be put to the test against division betting favorite San Francisco. The 49ers lost key players on both sides of the ball to cap cuts, though, and I think the Seahawks will secure the upset at home in the opener.
Buffalo (-125) was blown out by Baltimore in the 2024 regular season, but they got revenge in the Divisional Round. Homefield will make all the difference in this rematch, and the Bills will start the season with a win.
