Three teams, #14 Texas Tech (-38.5), #6 Oregon (-33.5), and #9 Miami (-30.0), are laying 30 or more points this weekend. The Red Raiders and the Hurricanes need big wins to bounce back from the first losses of their respective seasons last week.

Week 9 also includes three ranked vs. ranked SEC matchups, including: #8 Ole Miss vs. #13 Oklahoma, #15 Missouri vs. #10 Vanderbilt, and #3 Texas A&M vs. #20 LSU.

The only ranked teams that are underdogs against unranked opponents this week are #23 Illinois (+166) and #11 BYU (+123).

Three AP Top 25 ranked teams are off this week, including:

Straight Up/ML Picks

Virginia’s two-point win over visiting Wazzu was enough to keep the Cavaliers’ undefeated home streak alive and moved them up to #16 in the rankings. They travel south this week to take on the Tarheels in North Carolina. Bill Belichick’s disastrous first season as the UNC head coach will continue with another home loss this weekend.

Washington is one of two unranked teams favored over a ranked opponent this weekend. The Huskies are -204 home favorites over #23 Illinois. The Fighting Illini are 2-2 in their last four games, and I think they will lose on the road this week in one of the toughest road environments.

#24 Arizona State is a -305 favorite this week over Houston. Both are 3-1 in Big 12 conference play, but the Sun Devils are the home team for this battle of basketball schools. Arizona State took down the previously undefeated Texas Tech Red Raiders last weekend and will keep the momentum going this week with another home win.

Best ATS Picks

Icon of football
  • #7 Georgia Tech -17.5 (-106) – Bet now!
  • #4 Alabama -12.5 (-110) – Bet now!
  • #21 Cincinnati -4.0 (-108) – Bet now!

Georgia Tech was an underdog in the Week 8 odds, and its 27-18 upset win over Duke last helped the Yellow Jackets jump five spots in this week’s rankings. They are favored by 17.5 points this week against a Syracuse team that has failed to score 20 points in three straight games. Georgia Tech wins and covers, handing the Orange their fourth straight loss.

Alabama also improved its ranking, moving up to #4 after beating Tennessee. It was the Crimson Tide’s fourth consecutive win against a ranked opponent. Ty Simpson and company will continue winning this week, covering their 12.5-point spread against the 3-4 South Carolina Gamecocks.

#21 Cincinnati is laying 4.0 points this week against the visiting Baylor Bears. Baylor is 4-3, including a 2-2 record in Big 12 play. The Bearcats, on the other hand, are looking to improve to 5-0 against Big 12 opponents, and they will cover this week.

Top CFB Upset Picks

Ole Miss dropped to #8 in the rankings after its 43-35 loss last week against Georgia. The Rebels have no time to grieve their undefeated season as they must face #13 Oklahoma in Norman this week. Ole Miss has one of the most efficient offenses in college football this season, and they will get the road upset.

Memphis dropped from the rankings after losing last week. The Tigers are no longer undefeated, but they are still a good team and have home-field advantage this week against #18 South Florida. A win over the visiting rival Bulls is exactly what Memphis needs to get its season back on track.

#15 Missouri faces one of its toughest tests of the season against fellow ranked SEC school #10 Vanderbilt. Both schools are 2-1 against conference opponents, with their only losses coming against Alabama. Vandy has a great offense, but Mizzou’s defense will stifle the Commodores just enough for the Tigers to pull off the road upset.

Top Week 9 College Football Prop Bets

Icon of football
  • UCLA +23.0 (+128) – Bet now!
  • BYU -1.0 (+122) – Bet now!
  • #3 Texas A&M vs. #20 LSU over 49.5 (+111) – Bet now!

The UCLA Bruins turned their season around with a mid-season coach firing. Their three-game win streak includes a victory over then-#7 Penn State. I doubt the Bruins can take down another top 10 team this week, but they can keep it close enough to cover an alternate spread of 23.0 points.

#11 BYU won the Holy War last week, taking down a ranked Utah team. The Cougars face another formidable opponent this week against the formerly-ranked Iowa State Cyclones. BYU is an underdog, but I think they can win and cover an alternate spread of -1.0 (+122)

Finally, in one of the most anticipated games of the week. #3 Texas A&M heads to Baton Rouge to face the #20 LSU Tigers. The Aggies average 36.1 PPG, while LSU puts up a respectable 25.6 PPG. With that in mind, I believe these SEC rivals can combine for over 49.5 (+111) this weekend.
