Best Week 4 College Football Picks

Without further ado, let’s dive into my Week 4 college football picks.

Straight Up/ML Picks

Oklahoma jumped two spots up to #11 in this week’s rankings after dominating Temple 42-3. The Sooners have allowed 19 total points this season through three games. #22 Auburn could be a tough test, but Oklahoma (-235) will handle business at home this weekend.

I also think #21 Michigan (-140) will win this week on the road against Nebraska. The Wolverines’ only loss so far was to the aforementioned Sooners, and they bounced back by dropping 63 points on Central Michigan last week.

Rounding out my moneyline college football predictions is #4 Miami. The Hurricanes host Florida, which was ranked before losing to USF and LSU in the last two weeks. Florida’s losing streak continues this week and could keep going for the foreseeable future with games against #8 Texas and #10 Texas A&M up next.

Best ATS Picks

Icon of football
  • #23 Missouri -11.5 (-111) – Bet now!
  • Temple +23.5 (-107) – Bet now!
  • Sam Houston +39.5 (-103) – Bet now!

Mizzou rolled Louisiana last week, beating the Ragin’ Cajuns 52-10 and jumping two spots to #23 in the rankings. The Tigers face a tougher matchup this weekend against South Carolina, but they will cover the 11.5-point spread. The Gamecocks were ranked 11th last week before their loss to Vanderbilt.

Temple averaged 48.5 PPG in the first two weeks but managed just a field goal last week against Oklahoma. The Owls are getting 23.5 points this week against #18 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. GT only has one win by more than a touchdown this season, and I think Temple can cover the spread.

Speaking of underdogs who can cover, I like Sam Houston +39.5 against #8 Texas. The Longhorns are 2-1, but their offense has fallen well short of expectations this year. Sam Houston has no chance of winning, but they can cover 39.5 points against a Texas team that has not scored 40 points in any game this year.

Top CFB Upset Picks

The #17 Red Raiders are 3.0-point underdogs on the road this week against #16 Utah. Texas Tech has scored at least 45 points in every game this year, while holding opponents to 14 or fewer. Utah is a major step up in competition, but the Red Raiders will pull off the upset this weekend.

Another road underdog in my college football picks this week is #9 Illinois, which is listed at +178 against #19 Indiana. The Fighting Illini have a 135-22 point differential this season, while the Hoosiers have been similarly dominant at 156-23. This matchup will be an excellent test for both teams, but Illinois will come out on top.

Michigan State is a +575 underdog this week against #25 USC. Both teams are undefeated, and their offenses are capable of scoring a lot of points. The Trojans’ offense has looked less explosive every week, though, and I believe the Spartans can win and knock USC out of the Top 25.

Top Week 4 College Football Prop Bets

    Icon of football
    • #15 Tennessee scores first (-385) – Bet now!
    • #7 Florida State -10.0 in the 1st quarter (-144) – Bet now!
    • Purdue +23.0 against #24.0 Notre Dame (+105) – Bet now!

I predicted #15 Tennessee to cover +5.5 in my Week 3 college football picks, and the Vols came through despite losing in OT. Tennessee is on my list of college football props this week. The Vols’ hot-starting offense is listed at -385 to score first against UAB this weekend.

Another prop I recommend taking this week is #7 Florida State -10.0 (-144) in the first quarter against Kent State. The Seminoles jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead in their last game, a 77-3 win over East Texas A&M. Florida State will start with another early 10+ point lead against Kent State.

Finally, I think Purdue can cover an alternate line of +23.0 (+105) this week against Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are ranked despite being 0-2, and the Boilermakers have scored 30+ points in two of their three games this season. Notre Dame will win, but Purdue can keep it close enough to cover 23.0 points.
