Best Week 3 College Football Picks
The Week 3 college football schedule has plenty of exciting matchups to choose from. Here are my top NCAAF picks this week.
Straight Up/ML Picks
Starting off my college football predictions are my top moneyline favorites for Week 3.
Clemson (#12) bounced back from its season-opening loss to LSU with a 27-16 comeback win over Troy in Week 2. The Tigers dropped four spots despite the win, but they have another chance to prove themselves this week against the 2-0 Yellow Jackets. Clemson needs this win to stay in the ACC title race, and they will knock off the undefeated Georgia Tech.
The #11 South Carolina Gamecocks also dropped in the rankings after a win. They have held their first two opponents to 11 or fewer points, but Vanderbilt has scored 44+ in its first two games. This will be a test for both teams, but South Carolina will win.
#4 Oregon is listed at -6500 against Northwestern, and their ML markets could close if the line shifts any further in the Ducks’ direction. This is not an exciting line by itself, but Oregon’s is a safe leg to throw into your Week 3 college football parlays.
Best ATS Picks
Next up are my college football ATS picks for Week 3. I believe #18 USF (+17.0), #1 Ohio State (-32.0), and unranked Louisiana (+27.0) will cover this week.
South Florida upset Top 25 teams in back-to-back weeks and is now ranked 18th in the country. The Bulls are good enough to cover the 17.0-point spread against Miami, but they will not start the season with a third consecutive upset.
The top-ranked Buckeyes dominated Grambling 70-0 last week and have outscored opponents 84-7 this season. They have another easy matchup this week against the Ohio Bobcats. Ohio State will easily cover the 32.0-point spread in this in-state matchup.
Speaking of rivalries, Missouri earned its way into the AP Top 25 with a 42-31 win in the Border War against Kansas. The Tigers are 27.0-point favorites over unranked Louisiana this weekend. Mizzou should win, but they are primed to take a step back after a big emotional win, allowing the Ragin’ Cajuns to cover.
Top CFB Upset Picks
Florida jumped to #13 in the Top 25 after its season-opening 55-0 win over Long Island, but the Gators fell out of the rankings altogether after an 18-16 loss to USF. The Gators have a chance to bounce back in a big way this weekend against the #3 Tigers. LSU has not scored more than 23 points this season, so Florida will have a shot if it can keep it close.
Another unranked team with a great shot at securing an upset this weekend is Arkansas. The Razorbacks have averaged 54 PPG to start the season, and they face an Ole Miss team that looked out of sorts last week. If Arkansas can pounce on the Rebels early, they could walk away with the W.
Finally, #16 Texas A&M is a +195 underdog against #8 Notre Dame. The Aggies have scored at least 42 points in both their games this season. Notre Dame was off last week and lost in their road opener against Miami.
Top Week 3 College Football Prop Bets
Lucky Rebel offers great college football props for every Week 3 game.
#24 Auburn is listed at -162 to have its first score be a touchdown. The Tigers have opened their scoring with a TD in both games so far, and they face a soft defense this weekend against South Alabama.
The 15th-ranked Volunteers are 3.5-point home underdogs against #6 Georgia this weekend. Lucky Rebel offers an alternate line prop for the Vols +5.5 at -149 odds. Tennessee should put up a fight, but covering 5.5 points is a lot easier than covering 3.5.
The #21 Texas Tech Red Raiders have scored 62+ points in both of their games this season. They face Oregon State this week, which has allowed 35.0 PPG to opponents and is 0-2 this year. The Red Raiders should easily score over 42.5 points this weekend against a porous Beavers defense.
