Wild Casino Best Live Dealer Casino for Texas

Wild Casino has earned the title of the best live dealer Texas casino thanks to volume and versatility. You can tap into that immediately, as Wild Casino’s live dealer offerings are split into two segments: Red Live Casino and Black Live Casino.

Red Live is operated by FreshDeck Studios, while Black Live is headed by Visionary iGaming. Red Live Casino is the preferred choice if you want a bigger selection of games. Here you will find lower table limits and buy-ins, as well as unlimited players for most of the games. You can also buy-in for as low as $5, or go big for $10,000.

On the other side is Black Live Casino, which is still very good, but is more limited with just blackjack, roulette, and baccarat games available. Players do have higher table limits and max bets, however, and there are limited seats for some of the games.

In all, you’re getting access to 26 blackjack games, 9 baccarat tables, 15 roulette games, and other live dealer offerings such as lotteries, Super 6, and more. The live dealer experience is understandably elevated by excellent video quality, minimal lag, and engaging live dealers.

TrustDice Best Texas Cryptocurrency Site

Love gambling online, but long for a casino that caters to your crypto needs? TrustDice does that and then some, having built their entire platform on rewarding crypto players.

TrustDice players also can gain access to free cryptos at the site’s crypto faucet, which allows you to earn crypto by completing tasks. Users earn cryptocurrency every six hours, and can speed up the process via the site’s VIP program.

The bonus and crypto faucet alone are good enough reasons to make TrustDice the #1 Texas cryptocurrency casino. There’s more, though, with TrustDice allowing you to purchase different crypto directly through the site through MoonPay and Paxful integrations, while a variety of contests and bonuses boost your earning potential.

Beyond the many ways TrustDice rewards crypto players, there are also unique crypto games powered by heavy-hitter providers like Betsoft and Pragmatic Play. All of this combines to make TrustDice legitimately the best place to gamble with crypto.

Las Atlantis Casino Best Bonus Package for TX

Bonuses are huge in the online casino industry, so every gambler should prioritize giving Las Atlantis a visit. An unreal 250% up to $9500 welcome bonus awaits gamblers; Las Atlantis is one of the best casinos for bonuses when it comes to match value.

The main welcome bonus can be claimed through five separate crypto deposits.

These massive bonuses easily surpass the top bonuses of a lot of competing casinos. DuckyLuck ($2,500), Bovada ($3,750), and so many others simply don’t offer the same tantalizing upside that Las Atlantis can.

Worried about rollover requirements? It’s less of a concern here, as it’s fairly low at just 35x. That doesn’t feel like much compared to a site like BetOnline, which comes in at 45x.

Beyond their normal bonuses, Las Atlantis also highlights new casino games, offering bonuses for each new game they push out. Their current promotion is 110 spins on Masks of Atlantis, but just know more game bonuses are just around the corner.

Gambling is not fully regulated in the state of Texas. Land-based gambling options include tribal casinos, poker rooms, horse racing, the lottery, and bingo. Options for online gambling and sports betting are limited to offshore sites.

At this time, Texas has not regulated commercial gambling within the state. Per state law, you can’t place bets for money, nor can any entity that hasn’t been approved by the state operate a gambling service in Texas.

To get a clearer picture of where Texas stands on these specific gambling categories, let’s touch on each.

Can You Gamble Online in Texas?

For individual gamblers, the Texas State Law Library points to Texas Penal Code Section 47.02. Per the Penal Code, a person commits an offense if they:

  • Makes a bet on the partial or final result of a game or contest or on the performance of a participant in a game or contest.
  • Makes a bet on the result of any political nomination, appointment, or election or on the degree of success of any nominee, appointee, or candidate.
  • Or plays and bets for money or other thing of value at any game played with cards, dice, balls, or any other gambling device.

There are, of course, exceptions to this general rule if you’re trying to gauge if online gambling is legal.

The Texas Association of Counties notes Texas Penal Code Section 47.02, which states:

It is a defense to prosecution that the actor engaged in gambling in a private place, no person received any economic benefit other than personal winnings, and except for the advantage of skill or luck, the risks of losing or winning were equal for all participants.

That has most Texans flocking to the limited land-based gambling resources the state does allow. If you’re looking for online options, there are also plenty of offshore gambling sites that accept Texas players.

Land-Based Casinos

Texas residents can also gamble at tribal casinos on land, in addition to casino cruises and game rooms known as eight-liners.

Native tribes were granted the ability to operate land-based casinos in Texas in the 1980s thanks to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). Since then, there have been 2-3 officially approved tribal casinos operating in Texas at any given time.

This federal law supersedes the Texas state law. A 2022 Supreme Court ruling finalized the legality of the three tribal casinos in Texas.

Casino cruises became popular starting in the 1980s, allowing casino boats to enter international waters, where Texas gambling law has no jurisdiction.

All casinos are allowed to offer only Class II gambling games, while eight-liners are permitted to only pay out non-cash prizes valued at less than $5.

Poker

Public gambling is not allowed in Texas, which means poker is not legal in a public facility in the state. However, poker rooms are able to operate in a private capacity and make money by charging players membership fees.

Daily Fantasy Sports

As for non-gambling betting venues, anyone living in Texas can freely partake in daily fantasy sports (DFS). Texas gambling laws don’t explicitly cover DFS, and most of the top sites readily operate within the state.

Social Gambling

Social gambling is also legal in Texas, to the point where it is not done outright in public. A few exceptions include aforementioned charitable bingo, raffles, and things like office pools.

Land-Based Gambling Options in Texas

land-based-options

There are plenty of ways to gamble in Texas. Anyone living in Texas probably would prefer that gambling would be less restrictive, but there are still venues for gamblers to pursue.

As limited as gambling in Texas may appear to be, there are still several land-based entities that offer gambling regularly. For the most part, Texas gambling can be split up in five main categories: pari-mutuel betting, bingo & raffles, tribal casinos, poker rooms, and the lottery.

Tribal Casinos in Texas

Texas Gambling History

timeline
2023
May

With sports betting legalized on a federal level, Texas lawmakers made their push with Sports betting bill HB 1942.

2016
February

Historical Racing betting had a short stay in regards to legality in Texas, as the Texas Racing Commission voted 5-4 to repeal the previously approved rules.

2014
August

The Texas Racing Commission approved HB627 with a 7-1 vote, allowing historical racing machines at racetracks.

1993
May

Part of Texas law, known as the “fuzzy animal” exception, allows gambling machines known as eight-liners, provided non-cash prizes do not exceed $5.

1992
May

Signed into law in August of 1991, The Texas Lottery Act was officially approved in November of that year. The first lottery tickets in the state went on sale on May 29th, 1992.

1989
November

Charitable gambling takes another step forward, with Texas lawmakers opting to approve raffles held by charitable organizations. The vote passed 2-1.

1987
November

Pari-Mutuel betting makes its return after a 50-year stretch of being outlawed. The Texas Racing Act made it so Texans are legally allowed to wager on both horse and dog races at designated tracks.

1980
November

Texas gambling is approved again in 1980 via Texas Proposition 4, when the Texas Legislature allows charitable organizations in the state to host bingo events for money. The state left it up to each respective Texas county as far as isolated approval.

1973
January

Charitable gambling didn’t last long, as Texas opted to ban all forms of gambling just two years later.

1971
June

Texas gambling finally gets rolling again in 1971, with the Texas Legislature exempting charities from the state’s ban on lottery gambling.

1937
December

Pari-Mutuel gambling’s stay in the legal realm didn’t last long. Just four years later, led by a push from Governor James Allred, the law was repealed and banned.

1933
January

Due to desperation thanks to the Great Depression, Texas sought to alleviate financial pains with the legalization of pari-mutuel gambling.

1903
June

With a growing anti-gambling perspective in the state, Texas lawmakers began the process of banning all forms of gambling in 1903.

Future of Gambling in Texas

future

There are some venues for Texans to gamble legally right now, but most of them are land-based and gambling in the state remains rather limited.

Hope for legal Texas gambling arrives in 2025, when the Texas Legislature meets again to discuss potential changes to the state’s gambling laws.

The state has some rather big names backing its plight to legalize gambling. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have both been in support of legalizing sports betting and online gambling in general.

The previous sports betting bill (HB 1942) was denied by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick in 2023, and it remains to be seen if it will be taken seriously come 2025.

Gambling Responsibly in Texas

gamble-responsibly

Per a press release by the Texas Sports Betting Alliance and GeoComply, Texas saw a 68% increase in gambling activity from September 1st to October 23rd in 2023.

The interest in gambling in Texas is obvious (and growing). It’s worth wondering if that could lead to more problem gambling.

A 2021 study done by the National Association of Administrators for Disordered Gambling Services suggests it’s possible. Per that report, roughly 2.2% of adults in Texas could be labeled as gambling addicts.

Texas was also recently ranked 12th in the US for most gambling addicted states.
