An Honest Review of Spela Casino for 2022

The following is our review of Spela Casino.

We were excited to check Spela.com out because on their website they say they have more than 1,300 slot machines. This means they probably have somewhere around 1,400 games when you add their table games and video poker machines to the mix.

We also thought it was unique that you don’t have to create an account before you join. All you need to do is tell them the currency you want to deposit in, how much you want to deposit, and the bank you want to make a deposit from.

That’s it. Pretty simple, right?

Then we dove into the review. And while they have many good things going for them, there are a few things they can do to improve. Nothing terrible – just a few items that would take them from a C-level casino to a B.

And because we write honest and transparent reviews, we’ll tell you about what those improvements are, as well as everything else we liked and disliked about their casino.

Then we’ll wrap things up with our overall opinion of Spela Casino in 2022 and our thoughts about whether you should create an account here.

Spela.com Basic Information

Spela.com is owned and operated by Genesis Global Limited. They’re based out of Malta where they run their other casino brands, which includes SpinIt, Casino Cruise, Vegas Hero, and Casino Joy.

Spela Casino has a license through the Malta Gaming Authorities (MGA), which is a good license to have. They’re also licensed through Curacao under a different company (Exodus Media N.V.).

Restricted Countries – Who Can and Can’t Play at Spela.com

Spela.com was created for Swedish and Finnish players. However, players from other countries can play here. For example, we know Germans can sign up and play.

That said, several countries are prohibited from joining and playing for real money. That includes the following countries.

  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Hungary
  • Iran
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Turkey
  • Ukraine
  • United States

You’ll also want to keep in mind that many software providers are unable to offer their games to players in certain countries. This means that even though your country may be allowed to play here, it’s possible that you won’t be able to play all the games.

The best way to know for sure is to read their terms and conditions.

The Casino

Spela.com is a new casino. However, their parent company isn’t new to the online casino industry. That much is obvious when you see the quality software providers they work with. That includes Microgaming, NetEnt, Play’n GO, and Yggdrasil Gaming.

The result of these partnerships is well over 1,300 quality casino games that span several categories including slots, card games, dice games, video poker machines, and a live dealer casino.

There’s a little something for everyone here. The following sections will give you a more detailed idea of what you can play here, our experiences playing their games, and what we think of them.

Important!
Many software providers – such as Microgaming and NetEnt – are prohibited from allowing their games to be played in certain jurisdictions. This means that if you live in one of those jurisdictions, you won’t be able to play their games.

We point this out because we list several of the games that we found at Spela.com below. It’s important to remember that you won’t know what games you can play for sure until you check their website out for yourself.

Table Games

You’ll find the table and card games under the “Casino Games” tab. Keep in mind that this section will also include video poker machines, scratch cards, and games that you’ll find under their live casino tab.

We’ll cover some of these games in the following sections. For now, we want to concentrate on their card, table, and dice games.

The following are some of the games that you’ll find here.

  • European Roulette
  • Multi-Hand European Blackjack
  • French Roulette
  • English Roulette
  • High Limit European Blackjack
  • Baccarat
  • Casino Stud Poker
  • Beat Me
  • Casino Hold’em
  • Triple Chance Hi-Lo
  • Spanish 21 Blackjack Gold
  • Auto Roulette VIP
  • Mahjong Exchange
  • Pai Gow Poker
  • Poker Pursuit
  • High Speed Poker
  • Triple Pocket Poker Hold’em
  • Double Exposure Blackjack Gold
  • Punto Banco High Limit
  • Oasis Poker
  • Red Dog
  • Caribbean Stud
  • High Limit Pontoon
  • And more!

Their game selection is predominantly blackjack and roulette games. Including their live dealer games, they have more than 25 blackjack variants and more than 40 roulette variants. If you’re an enthusiast of either of those games, you’re going to be happy here.

They have decent table game coverage outside that, though. For example, you can play baccarat, Casino Hold’em, Red Dog, and Caribbean Stud. What’s more is that you can play low- and high-limit and progressive variants of many of these titles.

Since there are so many games in this section – including those that shouldn’t be there – we recommend you use their search filter which allows you to view all games, blackjack, roulette, and other games.

This will help you quickly find the game you want to play.

Our Experiences Playing Their Games

We checked out a few games during our review to see how they worked, what their graphics look like, and what stakes you could play for.

The first game we checked out was a European roulette table from NetEnt. This game’s graphics were a mix of animated and realistic. It worked as it should – we experienced no lags or delays. It had a few nice features, too, such as a racetrack, stats, double your bets, favorite bets, and the option to re-bet your previous bet.

Next, we opened up their Casino Hold’em game, which was also from NetEnt. The graphics are similar to the roulette game – animated with hints of realism mixed in. This game also worked well.

We wrapped this part of our review up with a look at one of their blackjack games from Play’n GO. This was their European blackjack variant. This game was more animated than realistic but still looked great. It worked well, too. And natural blackjacks pay 3:2 for this particular game.

We found stakes ranging from €1 to €2,000, though it’s possible that you can find higher limits than that at one of their high-limit games. Regardless, their limits should appeal to most players.

Overall, we’re happy with what we see here. Most table game enthusiasts should be able to find something to play at Spela.com at stakes they can afford.

Video Poker

What’s a little confusing about Spela’s video poker machines is that they’re located under the “Casino Games” tab. This is the same tab where you’ll find their card, poker, and scratch ticket games.

This would usually make it a pain to find what poker games they have. However, if you click the “Other Games” filter, you can find them faster that way.

Here are the machines we found during our review.

  • Jacks or Better
  • Joker Poker
  • Deuces Wild
  • Jackpot Poker
  • Joker Wild
  • All American
  • Louisiana Double
  • Bonus Poker Deluxe
  • Double Joker
  • All Aces
  • Joker Power Poker

This is a good selection. We didn’t see too many duplicates here. However, you will find a few variants, such as multi-hand and power poker.

One of the games we checked out was their Deuces Wild machine from NetEnt. NetEnt’s video poker machines have far more modern and polished graphics compared to companies like Microgaming or IGT.

The game worked well, though it moved a little slower compared to the table games we played earlier. It didn’t ruin the game, but any slower, and it would have.

This game also offered a “double up” feature where you can pick the correct color card to double your win. You can do this up to 5 times. Get it wrong at any point, though, and you’ll lose your winnings.

Then we played All Aces from Microgaming. You can tell it’s one of their machines because the graphics are 30 years old (we’re guessing). That said, their machine worked better than NetEnt’s during our review. There was no lagging at all.

This machine also offered a double feature. In this one, you want to pick a card with a higher value than the card they have shown. Get it right, and you’ll double your winnings. Get it wrong, and you’ll lose everything.

The stakes for their poker games varied a little depending on the machine and variant you were playing. One machine we checked out accepted limits ranging from €0.25 to €25 per round, depending on how many coins you played. Another machine allowed you to play €0.10 to €50 per round.

Overall, we think most video poker player fans will find something to play here. This is a decent selection of games, variants, graphics, and stakes. Only hardcore enthusiasts will find something to complain about.

Slots

According to Spela.com, they have more than 1,300 slot machines for you to choose from. Here are just a few of the many machines you can expect to find here.

  • Starburst
  • Vikings Go Berzerk
  • Immortal Romance
  • Fire Joker
  • Gonzo’s Quest
  • Break da Bank Again
  • The Wild Chase
  • Heist
  • Mega Moolah
  • Thunderstruck II
  • Jack Hammer 2 Fishy Business
  • Hall of Gods
  • Piggy Riches
  • Lucha Maniacs
  • Deco Diamonds
  • Vikings Go Wild
  • Finn and the Swirly Spin
  • Dwarfs Gone Wild
  • Ozwin’s Jackpots
  • Reel Gems
  • Hotline
  • Big Bad Wolf
  • Tomb Raider
  • Troll Hunters
  • Game of Thrones
  • Jungle Books
  • Burning Desire
  • Elements the Awakening
  • Legacy of Egypt
  • Jack and the Beanstalk
  • Wild Orient
  • Leprechaun Goes to Hell
  • Dead or Alive
  • Terminator 2
  • Pirates Charm
  • Hidden Valley
  • Goldilocks and the Wild Bears
  • Sticky Bandits
  • Creature from the Black Lagoon
  • And more!

This is hardly a drop in the bucket of slot machines they have to choose from. It’s hard to go wrong by signing up here if you’re a slots player, and that’s not just because of the quantity of slot machines they have, either.

Here are a few examples to better explain what we mean.

One example – we’re big fans of licensed slot machines. Thanks to Microgaming and NetEnt, you’ll find no shortage of them. Some of the ones we spotted during our review included Game of Thrones, Creature from the Black Lagoon (which is a Universal Studios monster movie), Jumanji, and Playboy.

These slots are fun to play because they’re based on other media, such as comic books, TV shows, movies, and so on. If you enjoy whatever the slot is based on, then you kill two birds with one stone.

Here’s another example – we found machines based on tons of different themes and genres. For example, you can play slot machines that revolve around themes such as these.

  • Money
  • Movies
  • Fairytales
  • Animals
  • Fantasy
  • Ninjas
  • Animals
  • Wizards
  • Exotic animals or places
  • Magic
  • Roman times
  • Egyptian times
  • And more!

This alone can keep you busy, as you can simply decide on a theme and then go hunt for all the machines that fit in that category.

We say “hunt” because Spela.com doesn’t have a very helpful filter for their slot machines. You can choose from All Games, Jackpots, Video Slots, or Classic Slots. You can try to narrow your selection down with one of those filters. However, you’ll still have hundreds of (if not more than a thousand) machines to wade through.

That’s probably one of our only (and biggest) complaints about their slots section.

If you select the Jackpots filter, you can see all the progressive slot machines you can play. There are more than 30 games to choose from, though some of them are video poker or table games. However, the majority are slots and include titles such as Mega Moolah, Hall of Gods, Mega Fortune, and Gunslinger. There were jackpots worth more than $3 and $4 million during our review.

Ultimately, if you wanted to play slots, Spela.com would be an easy choice. They have tons of slot titles, themes, jackpots, and more. It’s just hard to go wrong if you choose to play here.

Live Dealer Games

Last up are their live dealer games. They get their live games from two or three software providers – NetEnt and Yggdrasil, and maybe Microgaming. The majority come from NetEnt.

Here are some of the games you can expect to find here.

  • Immersive Roulette
  • Rapid Roulette
  • Exclusive Blackjack
  • Lightning Roulette
  • Speed Baccarat
  • Sonya Blackjack
  • Auto Roulette
  • Dream Catcher
  • American Roulette Live
  • Caribbean Stud Poker
  • Blackjack
  • French Roulette Gold
  • VIP Roulette
  • Dragon Tiger Live
  • Baccarat Controlled Squeeze
  • Dragonara
  • Shangri La
  • Texas Hold’em Ultimate
  • Turkish Roulette
  • And more!

This is a pretty solid selection based on what we’ve seen at other casinos. But that’s what you get when you get your live games from two to three different software providers instead of just one or two.

There are several duplicate games, but what’s good about that is that you’ll have plenty of tables to choose from. This will be especially helpful during evenings and weekends when the tables are more likely to be full.

We’ve never had an issue with these live dealer games, either. The live streams work great. They also have neat features such as moving the camera angles or betting behind other players when the tables are full.

The table limits from these providers are great, too. You can find many games for less than a buck, depending on the game, variant, and software provider. On the high end, you can find games as high a €2,000 to €5,000, maybe even €10,000 for most card games. And you can find roulette as high as €75,000, thanks to NetEnt.

The bottom line – Spela.com has a solid live dealer casino. If you weren’t going to join for the slots section, then you can justify joining for their live casino alone.

Banking Options

Spela.com is unique from other casinos in that they don’t offer your standard list of banking options. You don’t have the option to choose between an e-wallet, credit card, or even a cryptocurrency.

Your only banking option here is to choose between 8 or 10 Finnish or Swedish banks you want to make your deposit from.

After you choose your bank, you’ll verify your identity. Once that’s done, your payment will go through, and you’ll be ready to play.

All payments are processed through Trustly. Trustly is a payment service provider that many gambling sites use. They will process your deposits and cash-outs nearly instantly.

Another piece of good news to going this route is that there are no fees for deposits and cash-outs. The limits are reasonable, too. You can deposit as much as €10,000 at a time and cash out as much as €10,000 for every 24 hours, €25,000 per 7 days, and €50,000 per month.

This is definitely a unique way of doing things, but considering the reasonable banking limits, no fees, and instant processing, we think it’s worth trying.

Bonus Promotions

There is only one offer you can claim at Spela.com. It’s their welcome offer. Here are the details.

  • Welcome Offer - Spela.com says they believe that fun should be uncomplicated, so instead of offering a deposit bonus, they’re giving you 100 free spins.

That’s it. Deposit $10 or more, and you’ll receive 100 free spins at the rate of 20 per day for 5 days. You can use these free spins on the Starburst slot machine.

This offer has a 40x playthrough requirement on any money you win while using the free spins. This seems a little steep to us. The good news is that we didn’t find a limit on how much you can cash out once you fulfill the terms.

And… that’s it for their offers, which is sort of disappointing.

They do have a VIP program. However, they don’t make it clear who it’s for or how you can participate. Some of the perks they say come with the program includes a dedicated manager, exclusive offers, presents, holiday packages, and more.

Based on a couple of the perks – like the dedicated manager and holiday packages – we think it’s safe to assume that this VIP program is reserved for high rollers. This, too, is disappointing, as we think they could’ve added a points-to-cash-back program or something to give players an incentive to stick around once they’re done with the 100 free spins.

Hopefully this is something they plan to improve in the future.

Mobile Friendliness

Spela.com doesn’t have a native app for you to download. What you can do instead is visit their casino directly from your phone or tablet’s web browser and play games from that.

We checked them out on a newer-generation smartphone and think they did a great job. The site looked just like the desktop version, only condensed and optimized for mobile users. The navigation is dead simple to understand and use. It’s identical to their desktop casino.

We didn’t count them all – because they’re supposed to have more than 1,300 games – but it sure looked like you could access a lot of their games from your mobile device. This is good news, as many casinos offer a smaller selection to mobile users.

Overall, they’ve done a good job here. We have no complaints.

Customer Support

You can contact Spela.com using the following channels.

Envelope
SWEDEN PHONE: (+46) 200896343
FINLAND PHONE:
LIVE CHAT

It’s great to see they offer phone support, even though it’s only for a couple of countries. Many casinos and gambling sites have been around for years, decades even, and don’t offer phone support.

We contacted Spela.com by email and asked them a couple of questions about their site. After more than 24 hours, though, we have yet to hear back from them. This is less than ideal, but it’s not a deal-breaker… yet.

We’ll update this review when/if we hear back from them.

Conclusion – Spela.com

What do we think of Spela.com?

We like them. They have tons of slot machines and table games to play. You’ll find even more options than we listed here when you factor in their scratch and keno games, too.

They’re also unique in that you don’t need to create an account to play. You also don’t need to worry about having a specific banking method or brand in order to play here. So long as you have one of the Finnish or Swedish banks listed, then you’ll be able to make a deposit or cash-out instantly.

Our biggest criticism is their lack of offers. You will get 100 free spins on sign up, and that’s it. The playthrough on this offer is a bit steep, too.

But that’s the extent of our complaints. If you don’t care much or at all for bonuses or other offers, then our complaint is irrelevant, and we’d see no reason not to check out Spela.com right now.

In fact, we recommend you do.

I deposited 2000NOK and got the bonus and played for a few hours where i had bets from 50-200NOK and wanted to withdraw the amount of 29997NOK, got notise of that i had violated the bonus terms since i had to high bets on the bonus money the cancelled the withdraw and annuled all winnings.
There is a system in place so you do not get to play on certain machines with the bonus money ref point 12 in the bonus agreement so there should altso be a system in place for theyr ref 10 point in the bonus agreement so you cannot bet more then allowed when you are playing with bonus money.
Why would anyone want to deposit theyr hard earned cash to a casino to play with to hight bets if all the winnings will be cancelled after? I feel decived and tricked by this casino and have had noumerous mailes with them and complained to Malta gaming athority altso.
They refuse to come to any agreement and blaims me for not reading theyr 100 page agreement. This is a con and should be illegal
