Shangri La Casino & Sportsbook Review for 2022

Welcome to our Shangri La casino and sportsbook review.

Their about page says they offer 21,000 live sports events and 250+ betting types. And that they have more than 500 casino games from a variety of top-notch software providers.

I wonder if that will be enough to overcome the fact that they’re a brand-new casino?

You’ll have to read our review below and see for yourself.

A Little Info About Their Company

Who owns and operates Shangri La? How long have they been in business?

Shangri La Online Casino and Sports is part of the Shangri La casinos family. They’re managed by InterStorm Ltd Casinos, who apparently has 20+ years experience in the gambling industry.

They have a license from the Malta Gaming Authority.

How’s their reputation? What do others think of them?

They launched in 2017, so there’s not a ton of information about them online. I didn’t see any sportsbook reviews, and there’s only a handful of casino reviews (from legit review portals).

What I did see is that they have average to above average ratings, including a 7.91/10 rating from and no player complaints. Though, both are likely to change with time.

Overall, I’d say they don’t have much of a reputation.

Restricted Countries

What countries are prohibited from playing here?

They don’t accept players from the United States or United Kingdom.

It looks like they accept everyone else, though. I connected my VPN through Canada and Germany and had no problems using their site. I wasn’t blocked like I was when I visited from the USA or UK.

Customer Support

How do you contact Shangri La? When are they available?

You can contact Shangri La Casino using one of the following options:

Support is available 24/7 via email. Live chat is available 12 hours every day (Eastern European time zone).

What Banking Options Do They Accept?

You can make a deposit using one of these options:

  • Debit Cards
  • Credit Cards
  • Neteller
  • Skrill
  • Qiwi
  • WebMoney
  • Instant Banking
  • Bank Transfers

The min/max is €20 and €2,000. The absolute max you can deposit in one transaction is a (relatively high) €100,000.

They say there are no fees for using the options above (on their end).

What are your cash out options? Are there any limits or fees?

You can make a cash out using one of the following options:

  • Credit Cards
  • Debit Cards
  • E-Wallets
  • Bank Transfers

The min/max cash out is €30 to €3,000, except for bank transfers which is €200 to €4,000. They also say the most you can cash out in one transaction is €100,000.

There are no fees for the options above EXCEPT for bank transfers, which will cost you as much as €35. This is ON TOP of whatever your bank may charge you.

They don’t mention any (banking) limits other than the €100,000/transaction. But they do say that the most you can win from a slot machine is €200,000 – except for anything won from progressive jackpots – and €50,000 from a sports bet.

Does Shangri La Offer Any Promotions?

They offer a welcome bonus for both casino players and sports bettors. Here are the details for each one.

Casino Welcome Bonus

This is a 100% match bonus up to €100. You can claim this offer on your first 3 deposits to the casino.

You’ll also receive 50 free spins for the Legend of Shangri-La cluster pays slot machine.

To qualify for this offer you need to make a deposit of at least €20. You’ll need to fulfill the playthrough, too – 40x the deposit and bonus – which is a bit high. This will vary some based on the games you choose to play.

Here’s what a bet on each game is worth towards your bonus:

  • Slots 100%
  • Table Games 10%
  • Live Casino 10%
  • Jackpot Slots 10%
  • Video Poker 0%

There are specific slot games that will contribute different amounts, too. You’ll want to read their terms and conditions to learn what those are.

Other than that, the max you can bet is €5 per round. And you’ll have 7 days from the time you receive your bonus to fulfill the playthrough requirements.

Sports Welcome Bonus

This is a 50% match bonus up to €50, which is valid on your first deposit only.

To qualify for this bonus, you need to deposit at least €20. You’ll also need to make bets on odds of 1.8 to 5.0.

Before you can cash out you’ll need to fulfill the playthrough requirements. You’ll need to wager the deposit and bonus (a relatively high) 10x. You’ll have 30 days to do it.

What additional promotions can you claim?

There are a few additional offers, all of which are for casino players.

Here are the details:

Reload Bonus

Make a deposit of €20 or more and you’ll receive a 25% match bonus up to €75. This offer has a 15x wager requirement on both the bonus and deposit before you can cash out. The rest of the terms are identical to the welcome bonus.

Free Spins

What’s interesting about this is that free spins are awarded automatically by their system. They don’t say how often or what metrics they use to determine who deserves them, but I would assume they base it on deposit frequency and/or volume, or how much you play.

Anyway, the free spins will need to be used within 24 hours of them being credited to your account. Winnings from your free spins will have a 50x playthrough before you can cash out. All other terms are identical to the welcome bonus.

And that’s it for their evergreen offers.

They have another offer, but it’s only available for a limited time. But if you participate you can win a trip to a luxury casino and €500 in playing chips.

What’s also worth noting about their offers is that they’re weighted towards casino players. Other casino/sports combos I’ve reviewed often do things the other way – they have more offers for sports bettors.

Depending on what you prefer to play or bet on, this will either be a good or bad thing. But at least they have welcome offers for both types of gamblers.

Do they have a comps and/or VIP program?

From what I understand there’s a VIP program, but don’t explain anything about it on their website.

I sent them an email to ask about it. But I haven’t heard back from them yet.

We’ll update this review if/when we hear back from Shangri La.

What sports and markets can you bet on? What types of bets do they accept?

The following are all the sports they list in their sidebar:

  • Football
  • Tennis
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Motor Racing
  • Alpine Skiing
  • AM. Football
  • Badminton
  • Biathlon
  • Cricket
  • Cross Country Skiing
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • Esports
  • Fighting
  • Floorball
  • Futsal
  • Golf
  • Handball
  • Ice Hockey
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Snooker
  • Specials
  • Surfing
  • Table Tennis
  • Volleyball

When you dig into each sport, you’ll find additional sub-categories/markets. All the ones I checked out start by giving you a list of countries to choose from.

From there you could choose from options like:

  • Specific divisions or entire seasons
  • Professional or collegiate
  • Boxing or MMA or women’s MMA
  • US Open or PGA Championship or US Masters

And so on.

When you dig further into these, you’ll have additional markets to choose from that’s (often) specific to that sport.

The biggest disappointment is the lack of live betting. I don’t see the option available anywhere.

Their about page says they offer live betting, and that they cover more than 21,000 live events every month across a variety of sports. But I didn’t see them – it’s not obvious to me anywhere on their site that they offer live betting.

Do they offer esports?

They do, though their selection is relatively basic.

The esports games and matches they cover include:

  • CS:GO
  • World of Tanks
  • League of Legends
  • Dota 2
  • King of Glory

The specific tournaments/matches you can bet on include Blast Pro Series, War Gaming League, CyberGamer Pro League, MakeMy Bet Cup, KPL Autumn  League, IEM Oakland, i-League Invitational, and World Championships.

I’m sure they cover others – these are just the tournaments that are coming up in the near future.

That’s about it.

Shangri La offers esports betting, and if that’s all you’re looking for you’ll be happy. But if you’re looking for something more elaborate, you’ll want to head to one of the larger and more popular sportsbooks.

What are their betting limits?

According to Shangri La:

Maximum bet amounts on all sporting events will be determined by Shangri La Sports and are subject to change without prior written notice. Shangri La Sports also reserves the right to adjust limits on individual accounts as well.

That’s as specific as they get.

Do they limit winners?

I didn’t find anything that said they did, though they ARE still new – 3rd party information is still scarce. But based on the clause posted above, it sounds like they at least reserve the option to limit accounts.

Overall Thoughts

I have limited experience with sports betting. So, there’s not much I can say about their odds, or how well they run their sportsbook.

And they’re so new that there’s very little information about them online.

That said, it does look like they cover the basics. There are plenty of sports and markets to bet on – including esports betting, which has been rising in popularity. And while it wasn’t clear to me that they offer live betting, they say they do (or at least plan to).

Casino Games

What software providers do they work with? What kinds of games can you play?

They use the EveryMatrix platform, and offer more than 500 casino games from software providers such as NetEnt, EGT, Microgaming, Evolution, Play’n GO, Igrosoft, and Euro Games Technology.

As a result, you’ll have access to all sorts of casino games, including a variety of slots, progressive jackpot games, video poker, table games, card games, live dealer games, and specialty games.

What devices is their casino compatible with? Are they mobile compatible?

You can play their games from your internet browser. That goes for both your computer/laptop and mobile device.

I couldn’t check out their casino from my phone as I’m in the United States. But from what I COULD tell, their mobile casino is well-done.

I’d assume iOS and Android users will have no problems here. Blackberry and Windows users mileage will vary.

What are some examples of games you can play?

They have more than 500 casino games. There’s no way we could list all those games here.

But we want to list some of the titles that stood out to us to give you an idea of the types of games you’ll get to play here.

We’ll also add any thoughts we may have about their games afterwards.

You can sort their games based on game type, (software) brand, most popular, or alphabetical order.

Something I noticed – and this is very common with international online casinos who use multiple software companies – is that Shangri La has to prohibit players from certain countries from seeing games from specific software providers.

When I first checked these guys out while routing my VPN through Canada, I saw a handful of table games – most of which were blackjack.

But when I routed by VPN through Germany, the number of table games, and the variety of games I could choose from, doubled (at least).

So, keep that in mind if there are some games you want to play, but don’t see. It’s possible that that specific game from that software provider is unavailable to you.

Other than that…

I think Shangri La has a solid selection of casino games. They have a great variety of table and video poker games, with plenty of variations to choose from.

They have tons of slots, too – more than 21 pages worth. There’s a great variety of slots with features, bonus rounds, and slots that revolve around pop culture and movies, like Jurassic Park and Terminator.

However, I didn’t see any keno or bingo games – from Canada or Germany – which is likely to disappoint some people.

Overall, though, I’d say the casino is their strongest product. If there’s a reason to sign up here, it’s that.

What do we think of Shangri La? Do we recommend them to our readers?

I think so.

It’s always difficult to recommend brand-new casinos. There’s very little information about them online. It’s hard to determine if they’re worth the risk.

You’ll have to decide that for yourself. Though, if you’re not up for the risk, there are plenty of other online casinos who offer what these guys do, if not more – especially in the promotions department.

(You can find them in our review section. Or, check out our top list section if there’s something in particular you’re looking for.)

But if you ARE up for the risk, I’d most definitely sign up for the casino. The sportsbook is okay, but I wouldn’t drop Bet365, 888, Pinnacle, or any of the other heavy hitters, to come here.

But that, too, is up to you.

The Bottom Line

As far as we can tell, these guys look like a good option. If you liked what you read above, then head on over to Shangri La now, create your account and start playing today.
