Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Liverpool – EPL, March 15, 2021

It is incredible to think that by the time this game kicks off on Monday, Liverpool could be as low as ninth in the EPL table. It has certainly been a tough year for the champions.

Wolves has had its own troubles as well, of course. But there has been an improvement in the last two months – and Nuno Espirito Santo will feel as though his side could give Liverpool a good game here.

Liverpool to Win-128

Liverpool has only won one of its last seven league games but BetOnline is still happy to make Jurgen Klopp’s side the odds on favorite here. I think that the game will be much closer than the prices suggest though, making the draw bet one to look out for on Monday.

A Look at the Teams

Wolves has been struggling for goals in recent weeks but has definitely improved overall since the end of last year when it experienced an eight-game winless streak in the EPL. The goalless draw with Aston Villa on Saturday typified the trouble the club has had replacing Raul Jimenez this season.

The Mexican striker is back in training now but it will be a while until he is back on the pitch. That has thrown teenager Fabio Silva into the fray far earlier than his manager would have wanted – and the entire team has missed its focal point up front, as well as the creative influence of Diogo Jota.

The Portugal international joined Monday’s opponent in September and had looked to really complement Liverpool’s attacking formation. But he has just returned from injury himself and will be hoping that he can help with changing Liverpool’s fortunes in the league.

The Merseyside club has endured a terrible run of games and is now in real danger of missing out on European qualification entirely.

The win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League this week showed that there is obviously still enough talent at the club to win games – and it was noticeable that the makeshift defense was far happier playing against Bundesliga opposition than even the weakest EPL teams. Playing Fabinho in midfield for the first time in months also seemed to make a huge difference.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Liverpool Prediction

  • The Draw

Liverpool was always going to struggle to replicate the performances of last season – and then it was dealt blow after blow on the injury front. Jurgen Klopp’s team might not have won the league again this year, but it should be higher than 8th in the table. I have a feeling that Wolves will only frustrate Liverpool even more though – and this could be a tight, attritional affair that ends with honors even.
