Predictions and Picks for WNBA Games – July 12th, 2022

The WNBA is back in action following the All-Star break. A’ja Wilson led her team to a dominant 134-112 victory, with Kelsey Plum winning MVP. It was a nice change of pace, but it’s time to return to regular-season action.

Admittingly, my WNBA picks haven’t been great this season. We’re starting fresh, hoping the second half of the season will mark a turnaround.

The Seattle Storm likely weren’t looking forward to the All-Star break. They covered the spread in six of their last eight games. The Dallas Wings weren’t as fortunate, covering twice in their previous six games.

Seattle has gone over their point total in five of their last seven games, while Dallas has gone under in five of their previous six games.

We didn’t see the same Las Vegas Aces in the last few weeks. Las Vegas has covered the spread twice in their previous 12 games. Compare that to the New York Liberty, who have covered in 10 of their last 14 games.

The WNBA betting odds have the Chicago Sky as the biggest favorite. Chicago has been rolling lately, but it hasn’t translated to the betting trends.

Chicago has covered in four of their last 10 games. The Atlanta Dream have covered in two of their last six games.

Lately, the best team to wager on is the Minnesota Lynx. They’ve covered the spread in eight of their last nine games. Will they do so in your WNBA predictions? The Phoenix Mercury haven’t been as consistent, but they’ve gone under in four of their last six games.

The WNBA odds have the Washington Mystics vs. Los Angeles Sparks as the closest matchup of the day. Los Angeles has been another great team against the spread, covering in five of six games.

My free WNBA picks can’t count out the Mystics. They’ve covered the spread in four straight games.

My WNBA betting picks have the Seattle Storm opening the second half with a victory. Seattle has been rolling since a 5-5 start, winning 10 of their last 13 games. That includes a pair of road victories over the Dallas Wings.

Dallas won on the road against Seattle in early June, but this is a different Storm team.

The Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty played a thrilling game before the All-Star break. New York won 116-107 behind a 30-point triple-double from Sabrina Ionescu. Ultimately, I think the Aces bounce back behind their MVP players.

Everyone focused on the Aces in the first half of the season, but the Chicago Sky hold the best record in the WNBA. Following a 4-3 start, Chicago has won 12 of their last 15 games. Their dominant offense hasn’t shown signs of slowing down.

There won’t be much value with taking the Sky, but my WNBA game picks have no reason to side with the Atlanta Dream.

The Phoenix Mercury vs. Minnesota Lynx is the only matchup featuring two non-playoff teams. I’m taking the Lynx because they’ve had the Mercury’s number in 2022.

Phoenix has looked better lately, but it’ll be tough to score a road victory against Minnesota.

My WNBA predictions only have one upset, with the Los Angeles Sparks over the Washington Mystics. Washington has the edge in the standings, but Los Angeles has looked better over the last few games.

The Sparks have won five of their last eight games, including a home victory over the Mystics. Washington started the season 5-1, but they’re 9-8 since then.

The Las Vegas Aces have been the best team throughout the season, but we discussed their struggles against the spread. Las Vegas enters this matchup as losers of five of their last seven games.

I like the Aces’ chances of victory, but seven points seem like a large margin for a team not playing well. Meanwhile, the New York Liberty recently scored a big win over Las Vegas. Sabrina Ionescu had a historic triple-double, leading New York to the victory. My WNBA betting picks believe we’ll see a close game.

It’s interesting to look at the Phoenix Mercury vs. Minnesota Lynx point total. The first matchup featured 155 points, but the second nearly saw 190 points. I expect a lower-scoring matchup on Tuesday.

We recognize both teams for their offense, but they’ve been solid on the defensive end lately.

My free WNBA picks are counting on both defenses to play at a high level.

The Washington Mystics have had one of the best defenses in 2022, but their offense hasn’t been on the same level. Their 79.6 points per game is the fourth-fewest in the WNBA. The WNBA betting odds favor them going under 81.5 points.

We’ve seen much better defense from the Los Angeles Sparks. They’ve allowed less than 80 points in four of their last six games. Can they keep it going against the Mystics?
