Western United vs. Sydney FC – A-League, February 13, 2021

Sydney FC will be hopeful of securing three straight wins when they visit AAMI Park to face struggling Western United on Saturday, February 13.
Having taken five points from a possible 15 this season, Mark Rudan’s men currently sit third from the bottom on the A-League ladder. Meanwhile, the Sky Blues are fourth – five points ahead of United.
If you’re planning to wager on Saturday’s A-League clash, make sure you check out my Western United vs. Sydney FC prediction and betting pick below.
Western United vs. Sydney FC Odds
Given the contrasting form of these two teams, it’s fair to say that the top online betting sites offer a pretty tasty price for the away win here.
Sydney FC (2.35) heads into Saturday’s showdown as the favorite, while Western United (2.90) is the outsider. At first glance, the odds for the defending champions to win this one seem very generous.
Western United vs. Sydney FC Preview
There is no getting away from the fact that Western United has made a disappointing start to the 2020/21 A-League season.
Following an impressive fifth-place finish in their maiden campaign last year, the Green & Black was expected to hit the ground running this term. But unfortunately, that hasn’t happened.
United’s only win this season came against Perth Glory last month, courtesy of that crazy 5-4 victory. Other than that, two draws and two defeats have left Mark Rudan’s men struggling towards the bottom end of the standings.
The Green & Black appeared to be heading for a hard-fought win over the Mariners last weekend. First-half goals from Tomislav Uskok and Besart Berisha meant the visitors were leading for much of the match, yet a late Alou Kuol brace eventually saw the hosts snatch a 3-2 victory.
Having also thrown away the lead against Melbourne City last month, it is clear that Rudan’s men have a problem when it comes to getting over the line.

In fairness, it hasn’t been all smiles for Sydney FC, either. After beating Wellington Phoenix 2-1 in their first game of the season, the Sky Blues only managed to pick up one point from their next two outings.
But following a draw with the Wanderers and a defeat to Central Coast, the reigning champions appear to be back on track.
Steve Corica’s men kicked off their revival with a completely dominant 3-0 win over Macarthur. Not only did they enjoy 60% possession, but they also racked up 20 shots, with Patrick Wood netting a double along the way.
Last time out, it was Kosta Barbarouses’ turn to bag a brace. Despite facing a barrage of attacks from the Nix, Sydney FC was able to hold out and beat the Kiwis 2-1.
Having conceded just five goals this term, the Sky Blues currently boast the best defensive record in the A-League.
Western United vs. Sydney FC Betting Pick
-
Sydney FC to Win2.35
In my eyes, the price for the away win is too good to miss here. After all, Corica’s men have shown everyone exactly why they are the defending champions over the past couple of weeks.
I’m expecting Western United to put up a decent fight on Saturday, but I’m also confident that Sydney FC will come away from AAMI Park with all three points.
