Just four points separate Western United and Brisbane Roar on the A-League ladder as the two sides prepare to do battle at AAMI Park on Sunday, March 14.

United currently trails Brisbane, although Mark Rudan’s team has a game in hand over the Roar. With both sides struggling for form at the moment, this is a tricky game to call.

On the topic of consistency – spare a thought for Brisbane.

The Queenslanders scored 13 goals across a four-game winning streak earlier in the campaign, seeing off Newcastle and Adelaide before securing two wins over Victory. But since then, it’s been all downhill.

Warren Moon’s men have failed to win any of their last five matches, recording three draws and two losses in the process. Worse still, they have only managed to score two goals in that time – firing a blank on three occasions.

Following a 3-1 defeat to Perth at the end of February, Brisbane managed to secure a 1-1 draw with Sydney FC last time out. Dylan Wenzel-Halls took his tally for the season to six goals and two assists in ten appearances, yet Bobo canceled out the youngster’s strike late on.

Thanks to a strong start to the campaign, the Roar are still in a strong position. But they can’t afford to make too many more slip-ups.

In my eyes, neither team is currently playing well enough to stake a claim for a victory here. Brisbane hasn’t won in five, while United heads into Sunday’s showdown on the back of consecutive losses.

Having taken everything into consideration, the juicy price for the draw feels like the best option for this matchup. Both sides will be happy to avoid defeat this weekend, so I can see this one ending level.
