West Ham United vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers – English Premier League, September 27, 2020
It has been a tough start to the new season for Wolves. But three points from two games against Sheffield United and Manchester City should be seen as a job well done.
This Sunday Nuno Espirito Santo takes his team down to London to take on a West Ham side that is dealing with problems on and off the pitch – and is yet to pick up a single point.
West Ham United vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Odds
West Ham has not always enjoyed playing at the London Stadium – although the lack of fans might actually work in the club’s favor at the moment. BetOnline also doesn’t really rate the Hammers’ chances, making Wolves the favorites with odds that look very interesting.
West Ham vs. Wolves Match Preview
West Ham is desperate to bring in some new players to give itself a better chance of climbing the table this season but may have to face Wolves on Sunday without two starters and manager David Moyes after a spate of positive COVID test results. Even with a full complement, it looked like the Hammers might struggle though.
The defeat to Arsenal last weekend was unlucky in that it was a spirited display from the east London side. Michail Antonio should probably have managed more than the one goal he did score, but it was evident again that there is not many other options when it comes to finding the net for West Ham.
Unless the home side starts well on Sunday it could be the defense that is the busier, however. Wolves added another Portugal international to the ranks this week in Nelson Semedo, who has come in from Barcelona. He is a right back but could link up well with attacking moves as Wolves looks to improve on last season’s seventh place finish.
Manchester City was just too good for Wolves last weekend but the 2-0 win at Sheffield United on the opening weekend of the season was an impressive display against one of the hardest to play against teams of last year. There are some very interesting attacking options at Wolves now and West Ham will do well to keep them out on Sunday.
West Ham vs. Wolves Prediction and Pick
Wolverhampton Wanderers to Win+110
Wolves was desperately unlucky to miss out on European soccer last season, finishing level on points with Spurs but just three goals worse off. But the lack of Europa League fixtures to clog up the schedule might now work for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side now as they look to get some points under their belts early on. There should be three more making their way back up to the Black Country on Sunday.
