West Bromwich Albion vs. West Ham – English Premier League, May 19, 2021
Time is running out now for David Moyes and his West Ham players. They need a win here and other results to go their way for their Champions League dream to remain alive.
West Brom is already down but showed at the weekend against Liverpool that it has not completely given up on the season yet.
West Bromwich Albion vs. West Ham United Odds
If West Ham cannot create, or take chances early on in this fixture, the odds for the home win or draw from BetOnline could be quite appealing. It is the Hammers who are favorite, though – and they should be able to come away with three points.
However, I’m not entirely convinced by the shortness of the odds.
West Bromwich Albion vs. West Ham United Preview
Sam Allardyce was left frustrated by Liverpool’s incredible stoppage-time goal on Sunday. The fact that it came from a keeper is probably not the most annoying aspect, as West Brom looked like earning a draw against last season’s champions. It is only pride and the possibility of overtaking Fulham that his players have to play for now. That, and the chance to ruin West Ham’s season, of course.
On the other hand, West Ham have straightforward-looking games against West Brom and Southampton, giving them a chance of finishing in the top four. But just one win in five games has severely dented those hopes. A Europa League place will be easier to win – but even that is harder after the draw with Brighton at the weekend.
David Moyes will be very happy that Declan Rice was able to return for that game, though. West Ham have looked much poorer without the England international marshaling the game in the middle of the pitch. It will probably be too late for West Ham to finish much higher in the table, but Rice should be able to inspire a much-needed victory at The Hawthorns.
West Bromwich Albion vs. West Ham United Betting Pick
West Ham United to Win-155
West Ham are unlikely to finish in the top four, but a draw between Chelsea and Leicester on Tuesday would make that impossible anyway. There is a chance to swap its current Europa Conference League berth for a Europa League spot.
I fully expect the players to give it their all – and beating West Brom on Wednesday is the first part of that quest.
