It is fast looking like Sam Allardyce’s record of never being relegated will be coming to an end this season. But does he have any more tricks up his sleeve?

Manchester United needs a win to keep up the pressure on City at the top and get back to winning ways.

These will probably be the biggest odds you will see for a home win this weekend – and there is definitely a temptation to take BetOnline up on its offer. If West Brom can trouble United early on, there could be a sense of desperation in the visiting team. It is still going to be something of a long shot, though.

West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester United Match Preview

West Brom is now 11 points from safety with just 15 games to play. There seems little chance in the Baggies performing another great escape, so now should be the time for Sam Allardyce to try something different. There wasn’t a lot of activity in the January transfer window, so we can’t expect to see many new faces on the side.

There are no injury worries to restrict West Brom this Sunday, so maybe there will be a new way of approaching this one. If the home side can use its pace to unsettle United, there may be some chance of getting anything from the game. There is the risk of a heavy defeat, of course – but what is there to lose now?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be able to call upon Paul Pogba after a recurrence of his thigh injury ruled him out of this trip, but there should be more than enough talent in the squad to cover his contribution. United needs to find the form of the first half against Everton last weekend. Two goals in the first 45 meant that the home side went into the break with a commanding lead.

But there will need to be a much better defensive display. Conceding three goals at home is bad enough, but when all of them could easily have been avoided, there has to be a problem that needs to be addressed. That could give West Brom some hope on Sunday – and Solskjaer should prepare accordingly.

West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester United Prediction and Pick

  • Manchester United to Win

On paper, the result of this fixture should almost be a foregone conclusion. West Brom is second from the bottom of the EPL and has only won two games all season. Manchester United is still challenging for the title. But there is fragility in the United defense that will need to be absent on Sunday to make this one a secure away win.
