West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester City – EPL, January 26, 2021

There probably isn’t ever a good time for a struggling EPL side to come up against Manchester City. But this week seems particularly bad timing for Sam Allardyce’s West Brom.

City looks like it has just started to get into a real groove now – and will be expecting to come away from The Hawthorns with three more points on Tuesday.

BetOnline has certainly made its feelings about West Brom’s chances perfectly clear with these odds. If it wasn’t for the fact that the home side has been playing so poorly, I might actually be tempted by such large odds. But I would be very surprised if City allows the Baggies to have much of the ball – let alone win the game here.

West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester City Match Preview

Since Sam Allardyce arrived at the club in the middle of December – with the aim of saving West Brom’s EPL status – he has been able to celebrate just one victory and saw his side knocked out of the FA Cup to lower league opposition. The fact that the win was against bitter rivals Wolves is probably the only thing Allardyce has going for him at the moment.

West Brom looked very limited against West Ham in its last Premier League game and could probably have done with the services of Robert Snodgrass, who had signed for the club but was curiously omitted from the team for the fixture in what seems to have been a gentlemen’s agreement.

Pep Guardiola might well be able to leave out some of his best players and still come away from this game with three more points. Kevin De Bruyne has been looking exceptional recently – and will be the main playmaker once again on Tuesday. With City’s strikers routinely absent this season, for a number of reasons, it has fallen to others to score the goals.

Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden have really stepped up in the last few weeks, but there are goals coming from all over the pitch. The defense has been tight as well – with the goal scored by Cheltenham in the cup on Sunday being the first conceded since the Chelsea game at the start of the month.

West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester City Prediction and Pick

  • Manchester City to Win

The odds don’t make the away win bet at all attractive, but Manchester City is looking frighteningly good at the moment – and it is very noticeable that some bookmakers have Pep Guardiola’s team as favorites to win the league, even though it is currently only second in the table. Three more points here should be very straightforward for the Manchester club.
