West Bromwich Albion vs. Burnley – EPL, October 19, 2020
These two sides have just one point between them, so this game is crucial even at this very early stage of the season.
West Brom will be desperate to shake off its ‘yo-yo club’ tag but Burnley is always a tough customer for any team.
West Brom vs. Burnley Odds
Neither of these teams has done much as yet this season so it is unsurprising that MyBookie has the game priced very evenly. West Brom’s home advantage is probably the tipping point as far as the favorite tag goes but the draw bet seems just as likely as coming through on Monday.
If West Brom can play as it did in the first half of its game with Chelsea every week then Slaven Bilic would have no worries at all about its chances of staying up this season. Unfortunately for him, there have been far more times when the Baggies have been totally outclassed in the top flight in the opening weeks.
There were no more additions to the squad before the transfer window closed, even though it could be argued that a goal-scoring striker is needed. There are also problems at the back, where the defense has conceded 13 goals in just four games. Burnley’s strikers may feel that they can exploit that weakness.
Burnley actually has one of the most underrated frontmen in the EPL in Chris Wood. The New Zealand international is rarely talked about, but his consistency and sheer physical presence will be a handful for West Brom’s defenders on Monday as it has been for many before them.
The Clarets are another team that failed to bring in any real reinforcements in the transfer window – and it could turn into a very long season for Sean Dyche and his men. This kind of fixture would therefore seem important to point to how the club will get on this year.
West Brom vs. Burnley Betting Pick
Burnley to Win+186
Burnley still seems to be suffering after the punishing Europa League schedule from a few years back and have never quite recovered. A slim squad at one of the less well off clubs is always going to struggle, so games like this are vitally important. West Brom might have the better ball players in its side, but I think the strength and determination of Burnley will win out here.
