Matchday 7 of the 2020-21 German Bundesliga season kicks off Friday, November 6, with the Werder Bremen versus FC Koln showdown at Weserstadion in Bremen. 

While FC Koln has struggled mightily since the opening weekend, Werder has enjoyed a nice season so far. The Green-Whites will look to stay undefeated in their sixth straight outing, while the Billy Goats are winless through the first six rounds.

Despite Werder’s solid form, the hosts are listed as slight favorites in this one. The bookies don’t trust the Green-Whites too much, although Werder is sitting at the ninth spot of the Bundesliga standings with nine points, while Koln is 16^th with only two points on its tally.

Last season, Werder dismantled FC Koln 6-1 at home, but the Green-Whites suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Billy Goats. Four of the previous six encounters between these two teams saw both teams scoring, and I expect that trend to continue Friday at Weserstadion.

Werder failed to keep its net intact in five of its previous six games including the last three. The Green-Whites’ defense hasn’t impressed, but it’s the same story with the Billy Goats’ defensive line. FC Koln conceded in each of its previous six showings.
