Matchday 7 of the 2020-21 German Bundesliga season kicks off Friday, November 6, with the Werder Bremen versus FC Koln showdown at Weserstadion in Bremen.

While FC Koln has struggled mightily since the opening weekend, Werder has enjoyed a nice season so far. The Green-Whites will look to stay undefeated in their sixth straight outing, while the Billy Goats are winless through the first six rounds.

Last season, these two foes split their two-game series, as each side was victorious at home. Here’s my best Werder Bremen vs. FC Koln betting pick for the upcoming Friday along with the latest odds update.

Werder Bremen vs. FC Koln Odds

Werder to Win+130
FC Koln to Win+210
Over 2.5-133
Under 2.5+115

Despite Werder’s solid form, the hosts are listed as slight favorites in this one. The bookies don’t trust the Green-Whites too much, although Werder is sitting at the ninth spot of the Bundesliga standings with nine points, while Koln is 16th with only two points on its tally.

Werder Bremen vs. FC Koln Preview

After a heavy 4-1 home loss to Hertha in Matchday 1, Werder Bremen has recorded a couple of wins and three draws in its previous five Bundesliga showings.

The Green-Whites are riding a three-game draw streak following a 1-1 stalemate at Eintracht Frankfurt in the previous round. They had the ball in possession for only 34 percent of the time but fully deserved to earn a point.

Striker Josh Sargent scored his second goal of the season last weekend and will lead Werder’s frontline this Friday once more. Niclas Fullkrug has scored four goals in six outings this term, but he’s sidelined due to a calf injury.

The Green-Whites will miss left-back Ludwig Augustinsson, too, but all other first-team players are ready to go.

On the other side, the Billy Goats have no serious injury worries, though their versatile midfielder Jonas Hector is still on the shelf due to a neck injury.

FC Koln is coming off a 2-1 home loss to Bayern Munich. The Billy Goats battled bravely against the reigning Bundesliga champions and allowed only seven shots towards their keeper. However, they couldn’t avoid a loss, while midfielder Dominick Drexler scored the consolation goal late in the second half.

Another midfielder Elvis Rexhbecaj leads the way for the Billy Goats with three goals and one assist in six outings. The 18-year-old winger Jan Thielmann is the team’s best assist-maker with two dishes in five appearances.

Werder Bremen vs. FC Koln Pick

  • Both Teams to Score YES

Last season, Werder dismantled FC Koln 6-1 at home, but the Green-Whites suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Billy Goats. Four of the previous six encounters between these two teams saw both teams scoring, and I expect that trend to continue Friday at Weserstadion.

Werder failed to keep its net intact in five of its previous six games including the last three. The Green-Whites’ defense hasn’t impressed, but it’s the same story with the Billy Goats’ defensive line. FC Koln conceded in each of its previous six showings.

Furthermore, the Billy Goats have managed to find the net in their last four visits to Weserstadion.
