Wednesday’s NBA Predictions and Betting Tips (June 2, 2021)
The biggest NBA playoff slate since Saturday drops on Wednesday, where three series can potentially end.
Luka Doncic brings the stardom, Joel Embiid probably won’t, and this slate as a whole is likely to be fairly predictable.
There is still a lot to unpack for this June 2nd slate, but I think it could be a good day to bet on the NBA. For my favorite NBA betting picks and predictions for Wednesday night, read on.
NBA Predictions for Wednesday, June 2nd
- 76ers to beat Wizards
- Hawks to beat Knicks
- Jazz to beat Grizzlies
- Clippers to beat Mavericks
The Sixers aren’t the easy call they normally would be here. Philly dropped their first game of the series against Washington the last time out, but that had everything to do with an untimely Joel Embiid injury.
Embiid is fine for the long haul, but he’s being regarded as doubtful for this one.
That’s not ideal, but the 76ers have an opportunity to close this thing out and get some rest. They can then cross their fingers that the Hawks vs. Knicks series is prolonged a bit.
I don’t see that happening, of course, especially with Clint Capela telling the Knicks that he would “send them on vacation”.
That could always be motivation for New York to rally, but I don’t see it happening.
Elsewhere, the Jazz have responded nicely ever since losing game one to the Grizzlies. Memphis is certainly feisty, but the better team has shown up in this series, and a fourth straight win for Utah is a good bet to finish this thing off.
The best game of the night is hands down this epic game five battle between the Mavericks and Clippers.
Luka Doncic has had L.A.’s number, but he isn’t fully healthy at this point.
Los Angeles is healthy, and they put their rally caps on for two straight wins after digging themselves into an 0-2 hole. Dallas offers pretty nice value if you want to bet on them to win the series, but they seem to be fading at the worst possible time.
NBA Upset Picks for Wednesday
- Hawks (+101)
This isn’t the day for NBA upsets, to be clear. Memphis and Washington are on life support, while the Mavs (even though I want them to win) are trending in the wrong direction.
Atlanta stands out as the only true underdog I like here. They have gained a lot of confidence en route to a dominant 3-1 series lead, and they smell blood in the water.
I like the Hawks to get the win, so bettors may want to hop on them while they’re still actually priced as dogs. The best price is +101 at BetOnline as I write this, but that could change in a hurry.
Best NBA Bets for Wednesday, June 2nd
- 76ers (-6.5) -103
- Mavericks (+7) -105
I’m not a huge fan of most of the game totals, and you know where I stand if you just want game-winner predictions.
Most will assume that no Embiid means Philly shrinks, but I actually think it motivates this team to rise up to the challenge.
Philly was a .500 team without Embiid during the regular season, but when they won, they often did so via blowout. I think they shock everyone and put this one out of reach early – as they should.
On the other side of that spectrum are the Mavs, who I don’t think win this game, but should at least keep it close. Seven points feels a bit thick for a tense game five situation, where both sides will likely bring their A-game.
