Pick and Prediction for Warriors vs. Celtics Game 3 – 2022 NBA Finals

| June 6, 2022 4:37 pm PDT

We move into the third game of the NBA Finals as the Warriors have evened up the series at one game apiece. The Celtics are heading back home and they should be very happy to win at least one game in Golden State.

Now they’ll be looking to prevent the Warriors from doing the exact same thing to them. Every NBA Finals game is very huge, but they also become increasingly important as the series goes on. Taking a 2-1 series lead would be a big advantage for either team.

After losing Game 1 of the series after having more days of rest, the Warriors made up for it with a huge 19-point win in Game 2. Let’s take a look at the Warriors vs. Celtics odds for Game 3 to see who’s favored to win.

Taking a look at the odds for Warriors vs. Celtics Game 3, you can see that the Celtics are favored to win. Their (-155) moneyline also comes out to around a -3.5 point spread, while the point total is also around 212.5.

The main reason why the Celtics are favored to win Game 3 is because they get home court advantage. Playing in front of your own fans and in your team’s stadium is always a huge boost, especially in the NBA Finals.

The Celtics proved they can hang with Golden State in hostile territory, so they should have an even better chance to win at home. Boston won 31 of 52 games on the road (59.6%), which was 3rd best in the NBA. They were even better at home, winning 33 of 50 games (66%).

Golden State’s home record of 41-11 (78.9%) was tops in the NBA, but their away record of 25-23 (52.1%) wasn’t too impressive. Their fans have so much to do with their momentum and make it very difficult to hurt their confidence when they’re hot.

Now that they don’t have their fans to help them out, it’s no surprise to see the differences in their home/away records and the fact that the Celtics are favored to win Game 3.

The Warriors are still more than capable of winning this game though. They proved they have what it takes on the road by winning Game 3 against the Mavericks last series.

You can find these odds on the best NBA betting sites. Not decided on who you want to bet on for Game 3? Don’t worry, we have a full matchup breakdown ready for you with a Same Game Parlay and Game 3 betting pick below.

Warriors vs. Celtics Matchup Preview for Game 3

Game 1 was an incredible effort by the Celtics. They had less rest compared to the Warriors after going to Game 7 against the Heat, while the Warriors beat the Mavericks in just 5 games. To win in Golden State with those circumstances proves that they are worthy of being here.

Now things didn’t go as well in Game 2, with the Warriors running away with a 29 point lead at one point. Golden State ended up winning by 19, but the deficit was cut due to neither team playing their starters much in the 4th.

The Celtics admitted defeat early in the 4th quarter, having 4 of their starters play just 1 minute and 15 seconds.

It was a very close game at halftime with the Warriors leading 52-50. After that, the Warriors went off in the 3rd, outscoring Boston 35-14. The dagger was a halftime buzzer beater by Jordan Poole.

Moving forward, the Celtics can put Game 2 behind them. They have shown that they are more than capable of hanging with the Warriors and even beating them. Now that they get home court, they can show out in front of their die hard fans.

Turnovers are going to be a huge deal and already have been. Boston won the turnover battle 12-14 in Game 1 and won the game, while Golden State had fewer turnovers (12-18) in Game 2 and won.

The Warriors are one of the league’s worst teams in terms of committing turnovers (29th). If the Celtics can win the turnover battle again and make them pay, they should have a great chance of winning Game 3.

Game 3 Same Game Parlay for Warriors vs. Celtics

Jayson Tatum Over 27.5 Points-120
Derrick White Over 2.5 Assists-182
Marcus Smart Over 3.5 Rebounds-148

That brings us to our Same Game Parlay for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Combining these 3 selections gives you the odds of (+301) on Bovada. That means a $100 bet on these picks would cash into $402 if all 3 legs hit.

Jayson Tatum had a bad scoring night in Game 1, but he bounced back big time in Game 2. The Celtics know that Tatum is going to have to stay involved if they want to have consistent offensive success.

Even in a blowout win for the Warriors and Tatum not playing 10+ minutes in the 4th, he was still able to score 28 points. Boston should have the upper hand in this game thanks to being in Boston, which means Tatum should be able to play more minutes and score more points.

Derrick White is also getting good minutes in this series. He’s played 30+ minutes in both games as the clear 6th man for Boston. White is also averaging 6.0 potential assists per game after Games 1 and 2, which turned into 3 and 2 assists respectively.

Smart has been able to reach 4+ rebounds in 9 straight games before only getting 2 in the last one. He only played 25 total minutes in the blowout, so that was the main reason why.

If this game is any closer, Smart should be playing his usual minutes in the high 30s. That should give him a good chance to get his 4 rebounds.

Warriors vs. Celtics Pick for Game 3 of the NBA Finals

My Pick: Boston Celtics -3.5 (-110)Bet on the Celtics at Bovada

If you couldn’t tell by now, I think the Celtics should have a great chance of winning this game. The Warriors road record this season was not that impressive, while Boston’s home record was.

The smallest advantage like home/away destination can be the difference in what should be such a close game. 4 points isn’t too big of a spread either, which can still hit if free throws are being handed out at the end of the game.

Both teams are insanely talented on both ends of the court, but the Warriors’ high amount of turnovers worries me. They won’t be able to rely on their home crowd to give them the energy to go on huge runs throughout this game either.

Blowouts in the NBA Playoffs happen way more often than you think too. Boston showed us in the last game that they aren’t afraid to give up a game in favor of keeping their players fresh for the next one.

If the Celtics have a decent lead in the 4th quarter, the Warriors may opt to sit their best players. That would give us an even better chance of cashing the Celtics’ spread.
