Predictions and Top Bets for Wales vs. New Zealand (October 30, 2021)

The 2021 Autumn Internationals teamsheets for Wales vs. New Zealand have been released ahead of the showdown in Cardiff this Saturday.
I’ll be looking over the odds for Wales vs. New Zealand and offering some predictions and top bets for those looking to wager on the match.
The Welsh will be slightly understrength against the All Blacks but will feel confident of keeping the score respectable, at least.
This clash between the reigning Six Nations champions and the current Rugby Championship title holders should make for a great spectacle either way. But who wins? And by how much?
Latest Odds for Wales vs. New Zealand
The odds below are in both fractional and American odds formats.
I’ve taken the prices from the Betway sportsbook.
- Wales to Win 11/1 (+1100)
- New Zealand to Win 1/33 (-3300)
- Wales +26.5 5/6 (-120)
- New Zealand -26.5 9/10 (+112)
As you can see, the odds for Wales to beat the All Blacks in Cardiff on October 30 are pretty high.
The bookies don’t fancy the chances of the home nation, who haven’t beaten the Southern Hemisphere giants since December 1953.
A bet on the Welsh to make history would pay off rather handsomely but it looks highly unlikely that this is the team to end such a miserable run.
The All Blacks will arrive at the Principality Stadium pretty much at full strength.
Captained by Beauden Barrett, the side will be intent on making a big impression in the Northern Hemisphere this year.
The last time they lost an Autumn Internationals match was against Ireland in 2018 and will not be looking to take any of their opponents lightly this time around.
Teamsheets for Wales vs. New Zealand
If you’re betting on the Wales vs. All Blacks match in the 2021 Autumn Internationals, you should know who will be lining out this weekend.
Here’s a quick look at the starting lineups for both teams.
Wales | New Zealand |
15. Johnny McNicholl | 15. Jordie Barrett |
14. Owen Lane | 14. Will Jordan |
13. Jonathan Davies | 13. Anton Lienert-Brown |
12. Johnny Williams | 12. David Havili |
11. Josh Adams | 11. Rieko Ioane |
10. Gareth Anscombe | 10. Beauden Barrett |
9. Tomos Williams | 9. TJ Perenara |
1. Wyn Jones | 1. Joe Moody |
2. Ryan Elias | 2. Codie Taylor |
3. Tomas Francis | 3. Nepo Laulala |
4. Adam Beard | 4. Brodie Retallick |
5. Alun Wyn Jones (C) | 5. Sam Whitelock (C) |
6. Ross Moriarty | 6. Ethan Blackadder |
7. Taine Basham | 7. Dalton Papalii |
8. Aaron Wainwright | 8. Ardie Savea |
Wales will miss key players such as Dan Biggar, Louis Rees-Zammit, and Ken Owens.
The latter is likely to be a particularly regretful absence given that he was eligible, unlike the English-based contingent.
As for New Zealand, the side is pretty much what you would want to see on the field if you are a Kiwi.
Not so much if you’re wearing red this Saturday.
Top Bets for Wales vs. New Zealand
- New Zealand to Score First and Win – 2/7 (-350)
- Wales +26.5 – 5/6 (-120)
- New Zealand 16-20 Points – 15/2 (+750)
Let’s take a look at some betting tips for Wales vs. New Zealand.
First up, I like the visitors to score first and win at the odds above. I think a win is nailed on so it’s a case of waiting for the All Blacks to get the first points on the board. Which I think they will.
The second of my top bets for Wales vs. New Zealand is to take the Welsh to beat the spread. With a handicap of 26.5 points, I think it makes sense to consider the team to just about scrape past.
Beauden Barrett will make his 100th New Zealand appearance when they face Wales on Saturday.

Finally, I like New Zealand to win by 16-20 points, which would be a reasonable way of celebrating the captain’s century of caps.
It’s always tricky to nail the exact score differential but history tells us that this should be a nice number to target if you’re looking to bet small stakes for big odds.
Predictions for Wales vs. New Zealand in 2021
- Winner: New Zealand
- Predicted Score: Wales 14 – New Zealand 33
I’ve seen some Wales vs. New Zealand predictions that favor the All Blacks to trounce their hosts.
And while it should be a comfortable win for Ian Foster’s team, I don’t think it’ll be an apocalypse that will lead the home side completely dejected.
Those two things alone might play a factor in the performance of the All Blacks.
Wales will field a weakened team but not by a great deal. Sure, key players are missing but there will be a nice balance of youth and experience to put up a fight.
Looking at South Africa’s tactics in the final game of the Rugby Championship, the home side will be aiming for a physical game with plenty of boxing kicking and up-the-jumper rugby.
That could keep them within touching distance until the final quarter when the Kiwis’ bench should make the difference.
Betting on Wales vs. New Zealand in the Autumn Internationals
I’ll take New Zealand for a comfortable win on the scoreboards but not the mauling that some are predicting.
