Vitebsk vs. Energetik-BGU – Belarusian Premier League, October 17, 2020
This is the second game between these two mid-table sides in two weeks, after the cup game in Minsk at the start of the month.
Both clubs look just about safe for the year already, so there may be a bit of an end of term feeling about this one.
Vitebsk vs. Energetik-BGU Odds
MyBookie could well be taking Vitebsk’s cup triumph as the main piece of evidence to make the home side odds on favorite here. I would say the two sides are far more evenly balanced than the odds suggest. So, with no real value in a home win bet, the draw could be of more interest.
Vitebsk vs. Energetik-BGU Match Preview
Vitebsk has been drifting around the middle of the Belarusian Premier League for the majority of the season and I see no reason why it would change that kind of outlook with just five games to go. It has not lost to Energetik-BGU in two games already this year and manager Sergey Yasinksky will confident that the record will continue on Saturday.
Although there have been victories in the cup for Vitebsk, there have only been two points won since the end of July – with no victories at all – so it is not really the form that the home side can cling to here. It is the draw specialist though, so don’t be surprised if there is another stalemate.
Energetik-BGU would probably be quite happy with a point from this fixture as well. Its form has been a little better than Vitebsk recently but the promise of a possible European spot earlier in the season disappeared quite a while ago now. Mid-table seems a more natural position from the Students – and that is exactly where they will end up.
After beating BATE at the beginning of July, the rest of the summer months were best forgotten for Energetik-BGU and now manager Vladimir Belyavskiy would most likely be happy to see his players pick a few more points before the end of the campaign and get ready for next season.
Vitebsk vs. Energetik-BGU Pick
With a draw working for both sides here – and a home side that has made that result something of a specialty – the already favorable looking odds seem to be the way to go. I can see this being a bit of a lackluster affair between two clubs that would be happy for the season to end immediately.
