Villarreal vs Bayern Munich Prediction – Champions League Quarterfinal (April 6)

| April 5, 2022 8:24 am PDT

Estadio de la Ceramica is the place where Villarreal will welcome Bayern Munich on Wednesday, April 6 in a quarterfinal clash of the 2021-22 Champions League.

After winning the last season’s Europa League, Villarreal booked a place in the Champions League. So far, the Yellow Submarine has exceeded expectations. In fact, the Spanish team caused one of the biggest upsets of the season – Villarreal knocked Juventus out of the competition.

Can these guys cause another upset? Oddsmakers don’t think so. Instead, they’ve given the role of the favorite to Bayern Munich.

The Champions League odds you see above are courtesy of Betway. As you can see, Betway’s oddsmakers think there’s a good chance Bayern will beat Villarreal.

However, keep in mind that bookmakers thought Villarreal was going to lose to Juventus three weeks ago, giving 4.00 on the Spaniards. Villarreal shocked the bookies that day, but can they do it again? Let’s see what to expect from Wednesday’s game!

Can Yellow Submarine Sink Another Favorite?

Wednesday, March 16, 2022, will stay in the memory of Villarreal fans as the day when their boys achieved one of the biggest feats in the club history. That’s when they knocked Juventus out of the Champions League.

After playing 1-1 with Juventus at home in the first leg, Villarreal traveled to Italy to try the (seemingly) impossible. And they pulled it off – they defeated Juventus and got themselves a place in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Beating Juve is a major achievement on its own – no one had done it in 2022 before Villarreal. Further, beating Juventus 3-0 in Turin is something that’s happened only three times since the start of the decade.

Unfortunately, after beating Juve, Villarreal entered a rough patch, losing the next two games. The worst thing is that the teams the Yellow Submarine lost to are sitting close to the bottom of Spanish La Liga.

Bayern Looking Like a Team That Could Win the UCL

Ahead of the Champions League quarterfinals, Bayern Munich is seen as the #3 favorite to win the title with the odds of 4.00. The only two teams with a better chance to get ahold of the UCL title are Manchester City and Liverpool, both priced at ~3.00.

Judging by Bayern’s recent couple of performances, one would wonder why this team’s UCL aren’t even shorter. As a reminder, Bayern demolished Salzburg in its previous Champions League game. Played three weeks ago, the game saw the German powerhouse score seven goals.

Bayern’s superb run didn’t end there. The Bavarians then went on to win two of their next three games. In each of those wins, they scored four goals.

As you’d imagine, Robert Lewandowski was responsible for a couple of those goals. The Polish scoring machine has been fantastic this season, scoring 43 goals this season across all competitions. Twelve of those happened in the Champions League, which makes him the UCL top scorer in the 2021-22 season.

However, he wasn’t the only one to score for Bayern in the last two games, which is proof that this team is not a one-man army. In fact, another five players scored in the previous two games.

Villarreal vs. Bayern Munich Prediction

My Pick: Bayern Munich to Win (1.57)Bet on Bayern Munich at Betway

The boss of Bayern Julian Nagelsmann has certainly taken notice of Villarreal’s feat against Juventus – he won’t let his boys get caught off guard.

That said, I expect the visitors from Germany to win on Wednesday, making their job in the second leg much easier. I also expect to see plenty of goals at Villarreal’s home turf, possibly with both teams scoring.

If you agree with me, the next step is to go to one of the top-ranked soccer betting sites and make some UCL wagers.
