Alaves will miss Pere Pons (foot) on Sunday, and that’s a big blow, as the 27-year-old midfielder spent every minute on the field so far. Valladolid can count on all its first-team players.

Valladolid had one of the best defenses in the Spanish La Liga last season, so I’m a bit surprised with their poor displays over the last few weeks.

The White and Violets’ offense is doing a solid job, but nine goals conceded in the first six outings is too much for this Valladolid team. On the other side, Alaves’ defense has struggled, too, so I have to bet on the totals Sunday when these two foes meet each other.

I know that both Valladolid and Alaves will take a patient and cautious approach, but the eventual opener would change everything. If someone finds the net, the other team will have to push forward in numbers, and with the odds at -145, I have no choice but to bet on the Over 1.5 Goals.

While two of Alaves’ last four games produced fewer than a couple of goals in total, five of Valladolid’s previous six encounters saw two or more goals on the scoreboard.
