The 2020-21 Spanish La Liga season continues this weekend with Matchday 5 matchups, and Valencia hosts Betis in one of the most interesting games on Saturday’s slate.

Both these teams are hoping for a successful season and the European qualifications, so Saturday’s showdown at Estadio de Mestalla in Valencia will bring plenty of excitement. Hereof, let’s take a closer look at this matchup and find the best Valencia vs. Betis betting pick.

Valencia vs. Betis Odds

BTTS NO -105
Valencia to Win +180
Betis to Win +160
Draw +220
Over 2.5 +110
Under 2.5 -139

I’m a bit surprised by the odds, expecting the bookies to favor Valencia instead of Betis. Anyway, this should be a tight battle decided by one individual move or somebody’s mistake.

When you see the favorites around +150, that’s often a sign to stay away from the side bet unless you have some very strong reasons to bet on one team or go with a draw.

Team Analysis

Valencia enters this clash as the second-placed team in the Spanish La Liga with seven points and a 7:5 goal difference out of the first four rounds. The Bats opened with a 4-2 home victory over Levante, but they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Celta Vigo in Week 2.

After a 1-1 draw against Huesca, the Bats beat Real Sociedad 1-0 on the road last weekend, upsetting the odds as +500 underdogs.

Striker Maxi Gomez leads the way for Valencia this season, scoring three goals in four appearances including the game-winner at Sociedad. Winger Manuel Vallejo scored a couple of goals in four apps, while the 19-year old midfielder Kang-In Lee tallied two assists in four outings.

On the other side, Betis started the 2020-21 La Liga season with a couple of wins over Alaves 1-0 and Valladolid 2-0. However, in the previous two rounds, the Big Green suffered a couple of losses to Real Madrid 3-2 and Getafe 3-0.

Betis battled bravely against the reigning champs at home and had a 2-1 first-half lead, but Real Madrid tied the game early in the second half, and the Big Green played the last 25 minutes with 10 men following Emerson’s red card.

A 3-0 loss at Getafe was a big disappointment, as Betis conceded three first-half goals while Aissa Mandi was sent off in the second half.

Valencia vs. Betis Prediction and Pick

There’s no easy money in this one, as both Valencia and Betis have been pretty much hit-or-miss over the last few years. They are capable of beating the best teams in La Liga, but they can also stumble anytime.

It’s a similar story with the totals, as you can notice from Valencia and Betis’ previous results in the 2020-21 La Liga season.

When it comes to head-to-head meetings, four of the last five matchups between Valencia and Betis produced goals on both sides, so that’s my top betting pick for this Saturday. Valencia won three of those five tilts along with one loss and a draw.

In two La Liga encounters last season, each team was victorious once at home, and both games ended with an identical 2-1 outcome. Valencia failed to keep its net intact in four of the last five outings at home, while Betis failed to score in three straight showings on the road.
