Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets Pick – NBA, September 1, 2020

Fantastic Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets responded to a 3-1 deficit with two wins over the Utah Jazz and forced Game 7 in the most-exciting Round 1 series of this year’s NBA playoffs. Now, the Nuggets have momentum on their side and are slight favorites to get to Round 2 and face the Los Angeles Clippers. The tip-off is set at 8:30 PM ET.

These conference foes already faced nine times this season, and the Nuggets are leading the series 6-3. Here is my Jazz vs. Nuggets betting prediction.

The sportsbooks changed their opinion following Denver’s consecutive wins in this series, and now they are slightly favoring the Nuggets with a -1 spread on Michael Malone’s team. The total is lowered to 217.5 from 220.5, as the bookies are expecting to see a defensive battle in Game 7.

However, the truth is that five of six games in the series went Over.

Utah played well in the opening quarter and finished it with a six-point lead, but since the early second quarter, they trailed and never restored the lead. The Jazz couldn’t control the paint and recorded only 30 rebounds opposite Denver’s 43, and they pretty much lost the game below the rims.

Donovan Mitchell displayed another outstanding performance as he led his team with 44 points, six rebounds, five assists, and game-high three steals. Mike Conley added 21 points, team-high six dimes, and five boards, while Rudy Gobert posted a double-double of 11 points and team-high 11 rebounds.

The Nuggets lost the first quarter despite shooting even 62.5% from the floor, but luckily for them, Utah’s shooting percentage dropped since, and Denver controlled the game from the second quarter. Mike Malone’s side finished the tilt with 54.9% from the field, while both teams ended with an excellent 50% from downtown (18 triples each).

The Nuggets were better in pretty much every segment, and the fact they committed 16 turnovers opposite Utah’s ten didn’t hurt them in a 119-107 win.

Jamal Murray hit a 50-point mark for the second time in this series as he led Denver with 50 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Nikola Jokic contributed with 22 points, game-high nine dishes, four boards, and game-high three thefts, Jerami Grant scored 18 with two blocks, while Monte Morris had ten points.

I backed Denver to win Game 5 and Game 6 and they fully delivered, and now I am going against the history with another Nuggets’ win.

Namely, the Nuggets never came from a 3-1 deficit to win the playoff series, while the Jazz never lost the series when 3-1 up, so we might witness something spectacular on Tuesday.

It’s going to be a tight encounter, no doubt about it, and Donovan Mitchell vs. Jamal Murray will be a fantastic matchup to watch once again. The momentum is on Mike Malone’s team, and I am backing them to exploit it and win.
