Picks and Predictions for the USFL Games for Week 7 (2022)

| May 24, 2022 9:49 am PDT

Welcome back to another great week of the USFL. Last week featured some pretty high-scoring and exciting games. Maybe some of that action can carry into this week so the fun doesn’t stop.

The Week 7 USFL odds are out, so it’s time to take a good look at them to see which teams we should be betting on for this week. There’s a couple of games with clear favorites, but we can still find value in various different ways.

The Birmingham Stallions remain a perfect 6-0 after the first 6 weeks of the season. They are the clear title favorites and will be looking to continue their dominance on the league. If they win this week, they will have beaten all 7 of the teams in the USFL.

Let’s take a look at their odds and the other Week 7 USFL games.

USFL Odds for Week 7

  • New Orleans Breakers (-270) vs. Michigan Panthers (+220), O/U 41.5
  • New Jersey Generals (-185) vs. Tampa Bay Bandits (+160), O/U 42
  • Birmingham Stallions (-800) vs. Pittsburgh Maulers (+525), O/U 41
  • Philadelphia Stars (-210) vs. Houston Gamblers (+175), O/U 43.5

To start things off, the New Orleans Breakers will find themselves as the favorites over the Michigan Panthers this week. The Breakers are at a solid 4-2 this season, while the Panthers are just 1-5.

New Orleans is a 5.5 point favorite for this game as well with (-110) odds. If you are planning on betting on the Breakers to win, that’s probably the most appealing bet value-wise. The Panthers have lost three games in a row, while the Breakers are coming off a win last week over the Maulers.

New Jersey and Tampa Bay will face off this week for what is the closest game odds-wise. The Generals are favored to win, but the difference is 4 points in the spread. The Generals have been great this year and have the league’s second-best record at 5-1. Their only loss came against the undefeated Stallions in Week 1.

The Bandits are at a mediocre 3-3 and have struggled with consistency, which is why they are the underdogs.

The Maulers have struggled more than any other USFL team. It’s no surprise to see them as huge 12 point underdogs against the undefeated Stallions. Pittsburgh’s point differential is -62, which is easily the worst in the league.

The Stars and Gamblers game is another with a 4 point difference in the spread, but the Stars are more favored in terms of moneyline than the Generals are.

USFL Predictions for Week 7 of the 2022 Season

  • New Orleans Breakers Over Michigan Panthers
  • New Jersey Generals Over Tampa Bay Bandits
  • Birmingham Stallions Over Pittsburgh Maulers
  • Philadelphia Stars Over Houston Gamblers

Here are my USFL predictions for who wins each game in Week 7.

The Breakers are simply the better team this year in this matchup. They are 4-2 on the year and their only losses have come against the two best teams in the league (Stallions, Generals). Michigan is not going to be a super threatening team with their 1-5 record, so the Breakers should be able to get the win.

Both teams are solid defensively, but the Breakers should be a tad better. Add in the fact that their offense has been better this season as well, which makes it hard to rely on the Panthers.

If the Generals were able to win their season opener against the Stallions, they could very well be the team to be undefeated right now. They barely lost that game (28-24) and have proved to be a top team in 2022.

On the other hand, Tampa Bay has failed to live up to their high expectations. They can’t seem to find their footing, so their inconsistencies make them unreliable to bet on.

At least Tampa Bay isn’t as bad as Pittsburgh right now though. They’ve looked pretty terrible in basically all of their games. Their one win came in Week 5, when they edged out the Gamblers by just one point.

Birmingham has looked like the best team in the league, so losing to the Maulers would be pretty insane.

The Gamblers and Stars game should be pretty close. I’ll give the edge to the Stars though, as the Gamblers lost to the Maulers this year, so they aren’t exactly looking great in 2022.

Best USFL Bets to Target for Week 7 (2022)

New Orleans Breakers -5.5-110
New Jersey Generals vs. Tampa Bay Bandits Over 42-110
Birmingham Stallions -12-110
Houston Gamblers +4-110

That brings us to our USFL betting picks for Week 7’s games on the best USFL betting sites.

Like I said earlier, you probably are going to have to bet on the spread since some of the games are expected to be lopsided.

All of the Breakers’ wins this season have been with 6 points or more. They are projected to win this game, so it makes sense to pair that with another 6+ point victory. The Panthers are coming off a 16 point loss to the Stallions, so they didn’t prove they can hang with tough teams.

I do think New Jersey should win this week, but the over could have a higher chance of hitting. The Bandits and Stars game last week totaled an incredible 63 points. Michigan and Tampa Bay played the week before and that game totaled 47 points.

The Generals’ defense is solid, but the point total seems a bit low here.

Birmingham is by far and away the superior team in their matchup with the Maulers this week. Not only does Pittsburgh lose a ton, they also lose by a lot of points. They have losses this season by 14, 7, 24, 8, and 10. The Stallions are the current best team in the league, so the Maulers losing by a large number seems very likely here.

Houston’s 1-5 record could be much better. They’ve lost 3 games this year and two in a row by just 1 point. In their other two losses, they lost by 5 and 7 (to Birmingham and New Orleans).
