Uriah Hall vs. Chris Weidman 2 – UFC 261

| April 23, 2021 5:22 am PDT

The biggest MMA event of the year goes down this Saturday, April 24, with UFC 261 featuring a glorious title triple-header.

Buried beneath the likes of Usman vs. Masvidal 2 and Shevchenko vs. Andrade is an intriguing rematch between Uriah Hall and Chris Weidman at middleweight. If you’re here because you’re looking for betting tips for Hall vs. Weidman, I’ll take you through the essentials.

Weidman, a former UFC middleweight champion, is still looking for that final shot at his old title. That’s despite losing to Luke Rockhold in December 2015. Hall, once touted as the next Anderson Silva, hasn’t quite lived up to his rep. Ironically, he was the man that ended Silva’s UFC career in October, and he will be keen to build on that win this Saturday.

Join me as I run through odds and best bets for Hall vs. Weidman, as well as my prediction for the fight.

Let’s start with who looks set to win this one.

Hall vs. Weidman 2 – Who Wins?

  • Chris Weidman by Decision

This is a 50-50 fight where I give Weidman the edge.

I believe the former champion’s grappling will be the determining factor in this bout. Despite Weidman winning by stoppage in their first encounter on the East Coast regional scene, I don’t see this one playing out the same way at all.

I’ll explain why after we cover the best bets and odds for Hall vs. Weidman 2 online.

Latest Odds for Hall vs. Weidman 2

Chris Weidman to Win-125
Uriah Hall to Win+105

If you’re looking for the top odds for the Chris Weidman vs. Uriah Hall rematch, Bovada has you covered.

As you can see, the Hall vs. Weidman line pretty much makes this one a pick ’em. Both guys are 36 and not getting any fresher, although the former carries the momentum into the clash.

Weidman opened as a +135 underdog, so it’s unrealistic to expect any value on him. I’m predicting Weidman will close around the -140 mark on the night.

Hall opened as a -135 favorite with the top UFC betting sites. You can expect his needle to hit the +110 to +115 mark before the betting lines for UFC 261’s middleweight scrap close.

Best Bets for Hall vs. Weidman 2

Weidman to Win-125
Weidman to Win by Decision+200

If you are gambling on this fight going the distance, be aware that Hall has the power to end this contest in the blink of an eye.

He is an excellent technical striker with 12 KO/TKOs from 16 wins. With that in mind, the best thing to do here is to pick your guy and go with that. Obviously, my betting pick for Hall vs. Weidman is clear. I’m backing the latter to come through with the win, and I’ll go a little deeper on my predictions for Hall vs. Weidman in the next section.

If you are looking to wager on the method of victory, I like Weidman by decision at +200. But I’d advise taking the moneyline odds in this fight, as they are pretty solid.

Why Weidman Beats Hall

Look, you can build a case for Uriah Hall winning this fight just as easy as you can with Weidman.

He carries the momentum into this fight and is 4-1 from his last five. Weidman is 2-3 from his last five, which should, in theory, appease the nerves of anyone betting on Hall to win. But scratch beneath the surface, and you will see a disparity in the quality of opponents if you compare their records.

Weidman has wins over Kelvin Gastelum and Omari Akhmedov and losses to Gegard Mousasi, Jacare, and Dominick Reyes. Hall has wins over Krzysztof Jotko, Bevon Lewis, Antônio Carlos Júnior, and Anderson Silva. He lost to Paulo Costa, which is hardly anything to laugh about, but his wins aren’t major scalps.

Ultimately, both men have made improvements in recent times. Weidman’s cardio and defensive tweaks should see him over the line, but Hall is full of confidence and dangerous.

With that said, I’m predicting Weidman to beat Hall. He should have too much in the grappling department for Hall and could make this a boring grind en route to a unanimous decision victory.
