MLB Picks for Underdog Fantasy on Monday, April 18th, 2022

| April 18, 2022 8:10 am PDT

The MLB brings us a nice 11 game slate for Monday’s games to bet on. We will be taking a look throughout today’s games to see which Underdog Fantasy player props we should be looking to target today.

Building your Underdog Fantasy parlay is completely up to you, whether you want to pick between 2 and 5 selections for your parlay. You can take less risk with a 3x entry fee multiplier with 2 selections, or ramp it up to 20x at 5 selections.

Either way, I will have 5 picks for you to choose from to start your Monday off right.

Wander Franco Over 1.5 Total Bases

The young Rays’ superstar in Wander Franco pulled through for the last time we picked him, so we are going to try him again on Monday. He should have a good matchup today, but it seems like he matches up well with basically anybody.

The Rays will be taking on the Chicago Cubs in Wrigley today, who are deploying their ace Kyle Hendricks on the mound. Franco has yet to have a career plate appearance against Hendricks, but he could be in for a big day.

Hendricks is heavily reliant on off speed pitches, which requires a sharp eye to do well against him. Even though Franco is just 21 years old, he’s got some great plate discipline and will make Hendricks pitch to him.

He’s been hot to start the 2022 MLB season as well, hitting .381 to start the season with 5 doubles and a triple in just 10 games. He doesn’t do as well from the left side of the plate than the right side as a switch hitter, but he’s on fire right now so it might not matter.

Franco has gotten over 1.5 total bases in 3 straight games. If you think he gets 3+ total bases like he did yesterday, you can find the odds for that on Bovada for (+112).

Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases

Another young superstar in the MLB is Shohei Ohtani of the Angels. He’s the most excited player in baseball to watch and he has a chance to shine tonight once more. Him and the Angels will be in Houston to take on the Astros. Houston will send out Luis Garcia on the mound, who does not do well against lefties.

Garcia allows a .278 average to lefties compared to just .172 to righties. Ohtani has faced him 12 times in total and has launched two home runs off him. He also drew two walks against Garcia, so he’s hitting .333 with a .429 on base percentage against him.

Ohtani did not hit a home run in yesterday’s game, but he hit a combined 3 in the two games before that. He’s starting to heat up after a bit of a cold start, which means it’s a perfect time to jump on his over line here.

If you think Ohtani launches another one into the stands, you can find the odds for that on Bovada at (+300). You can get (+254) for 4 total bases, so two doubles would be able to cash if you aren’t a fan of betting on home runs.

Either way, he’s got an amazing matchup tonight and should be a target to bet on for today.

Bryce Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases

What can be better than Bryce Harper in Colorado facing a righty? These conditions are too good to pass up for Harper, who will be facing his old buddy Kris Bryant for the first time in a Rockies uniform.

Harper is another big lefty who is heating up at the right time.

As the Phillies head to Colorado, Harper is coming into the series hitting 2 home runs, 3 doubles, and .316 in his last 5 games.

He has faced Chad Kuhl 9 times in his career, but his numbers against him aren’t too appealing. Harper has gotten a hold of Kuhl once, but that’s his only hit against him with one walk to go with it.

With that being said, Harper is hitting the ball very well recently and the Rockies’ stadium is the most hitter friendly park in the MLB. He can get a hold of another one here, but a nice double would do the trick as well.

My Top Underdog Parlay for Monday, April 18th

  • Wander Franco Over 1.5 Total Bases
  • Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases
  • Bryce Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases
  • Mookie Betts Over 1.5 Total Bases
  • Christian Yelich Over 1.5 Total Bases

Here are my 5 total selections to combine on Underdog Fantasy for a huge 20x entry fee multiplier. If all 5 of these picks end up hitting, then we will be in for a big payout and it’ll be a great way to start the week.

I already talked about the first three selections, but I have two more that you can throw in to get the full 20x booster.

Mookie Betts is another player that could be in for a big day at the plate. He will be facing Braves’ pitcher Huascar Ynoa to start the game. Both of these righties have reverse splits, which means they both do better against righties than lefties.

It’s typically the other way around, but today it could end up being a great pick.

My final pick for today will go to Chrisitan Yelich of the Brewers to get 2 or more total bases as well. He hasn’t been enjoying the same successes from the 2018 and 2019 seasons, but he’s got a great matchup today against Zach Thompson.

Thompson allows more hits to lefties than righties, and Yelich is seeing the ball well right now. He took two walks in yesterday’s game and also hit a double on the 14th.
