Turf Paradise Racing Picks – Thursday, February 11, 2021

Turf Paradise offers up a schedule of both quarter horse and thoroughbred competitions for our Thursday horse racing entertainment.
If you can’t make it in person, remember that you can find Turf Paradise’s full nine-race card for Thursday— including entries, jockeys, M/L odds, and wagering options — at one of our recommended horse racing betting sites.
Now, read on for my Turf Paradise picks and betting tips for Thursday, February 11, 2021.
Pick for Race 6 at Turf Paradise
This is a claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $9,000.
I’m backing the second-favored (7/2) entry in this race — Punaluu, ridden by Enrique Portillo Gomez. This five-year-old gelding moneyed 15 of his 24 career starts, winning four. Yes, the 2/1 favorite has a higher win percentage, but the favorite hasn’t won a race in more than a year.
As far as value show bets go, there are plenty of long-odds entries in this race, but none of them look like they’re going to do much more than chase the other horses across the finish line. Save your long money for later.
- Win: Punaluu 7/2
Picks for Race 7 at Turf Paradise
This is an allowance race for three-year-olds running a distance of 7-1/2 furlongs on turf for a purse of $23,500.
My money is on the 3/1 favorite in this race — Champ Spirit, with Daniel P. Vergara in the irons. This gelding moneyed both of his career starts, breaking his maiden last September at The Downs at Albuquerque, then winning the New Mexico Classic Cup Juvenile Championship Stakes (Black Type) at Zia Park in November.
Surprisingly, the longest odds in this nine-horse race are 10/1, and I don’t see that horse finishing in the money against this field. On the other hand, you might want to consider a show wager on the 8/1 Don’tpassthepepper, with Leslie Mawing aboard. This filly moneyed five of her six career starts, winning two.
- Win: Champ Spirit 5/1
- Show: Don’tpassthepepper 8/1
Pick for Race 8 at Turf Paradise
This is a claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $8,800.
I’m buying a win ticket on the second-favored (7/2) entry in this race — Quetta’s In Charge, ridden by Noel Vigil. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money 12 of his 20 career starts, winning two. For comparison, the morning line favorite moneyed five of his 20 starts, with two wins.
There are lots of long-odds entries in this race, including three 20/1 long shots, but I don’t think any of them have a chance to finish in the money, so save yours.
- Win: Quetta’s In Charge 7/2
