Tuesday’s NBA Predictions and Best Bets (May 11, 2021)

| May 11, 2021 5:14 am PDT

The 2020-21 NBA regular season is nearing the finish line. After a pretty tame schedule yesterday, things get pretty wild with 11 games hitting the hardwood on Tuesday night.

The battle for playoff seeding continues, with the Suns and 76ers both working to secure #1 seeds tonight out of their respective conferences.

If you’re looking to bet on the NBA on Tuesday, I’ll be handing out free NBA picks for every game, as well as my top NBA upset picks and best bets.

Once you’re ready to place some bets, check out the best NBA betting apps to get in on the action.

NBA Predictions for Tuesday, May 11th

  • Timberwolves to beat Pistons
  • Nuggets to beat Hornets
  • Heat to beat Celtics
  • Clippers to beat Raptors
  • Nets to beat Bulls
  • 76ers to beat Pacers
  • Mavericks to beat Grizzlies
  • Bucks to beat Magic
  • Suns to beat Warriors
  • Lakers to beat Knicks
  • Thunder to beat Kings

Minnesota and Detroit don’t have the incentive to win right now, but of the two, the Pistons keep sitting key players left and right.

D’Angelo Russell is also back in Minnesota’s starting five, and the formerly inept T’Wolves are 6-4 over their last 10 games. Seemingly more concerned with building chemistry with their young core than tanking for the top pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, I think Minnesota is the safer bet between the two.

Denver should have the edge against Charlotte. Both teams have been bit by the injury bug, but the Hornets have nobody to stop Nikola Jokic down low.

I’ll take the hotter and healthier Heat to topple the Celtics. I also like the Clippers over a beaten down, and wishy-washy Toronto squad. Brooklyn should keep their new winning streak with a win over the Bulls (although they’re on fire suddenly).

Dallas should win even though Luka Doncic is dangerously close to a suspension, too.

The Bucks should have little trouble against the hapless Magic. Phoenix has eyes for the top seed in the west and should handle the Warriors. The Lakers are surging with Anthony Davis suddenly looking like Anthony Davis again.

Lastly, I see no reason not to throw caution to the wind and bet on OKC to take out the Kings. They’re my favorite upset pick tonight, though, so more on that in a second.

NBA Upset Picks for Tuesday

  • Thunder (+10.5) -110

Maybe you’ll feel better about this as an ATS pick, and that’s totally fine. The moneylines aren’t out for this game yet, but with a spread like this, you know this will return insane value if the Thunder can snag a win.

OKC has admittedly been horrible. They are running a skeleton crew out there most nights, as they’re relying on a ton of young prospects to get the job done.

It hasn’t gone well. The Thunder have dropped seven straight, and they’re just 1-9 over their last 10 games.

The reason for optimism? They get the Kings, who have been without two key guards, are banged up in general across the board, and are abhorrent on defense.

OKC has a real shot to hang in this game, and one of their two meetings was a four-point loss just seven days ago.

The Thunder aren’t trustworthy, but when looking for fun NBA upset picks that could be worth your time, they take the cake for me on Tuesday night.

Best NBA Bets for Tuesday, May 11th

  • Bulls (+4.5k) -110
  • Nets vs. Bulls Over 232.5 (-110)
  • Suns vs. Warriors Under 230 (-110)

Chicago isn’t easy to trust, but let’s consider that the Nets have not been finishing games all that well lately, and the Bulls are on fire at the moment.

Finally healthy again, the Bulls are playing like their season is on the line (and it is), as they’ve ripped off three consecutive wins. I don’t know if they get another one here, but I do think they keep it close.

On top of that, neither of these teams defend very well, and the Nets can fill it up offensively, regardless. Brooklyn also pushes the pace, so I see plenty of points (and the Over) in this one.

While I like the Over there, I’m all about the Under in the Suns game. Phoenix is a good bet to get the win, but I don’t know if I want to mess with a 5-point spread on the road.

However, I like the Under here as the Suns slow the pace down and have an excellent defense. Golden State’s pace can ruin that logic, but the Suns are the better team and should enforce their will here.
