Tottenham Hotspur vs. Ludogorets – Europa League, November 26, 2020

Fresh from beating Manchester City 2-0 at the weekend, Tottenham will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of Europa League Group J when Ludogorets visits North London on Thursday, November 26.

Spurs claimed a 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture, leaving Ludogorets bottom of the group. The Bulgarians are yet to pick up a single point in Europe this season, with three straight defeats effectively knocking them out of the competition.

Spurs enhanced their EPL title credentials by brushing aside Man City on Saturday. Jose Mourinho’s men find themselves top of the Premier League table after nine games, with four straight victories keeping them ahead of Liverpool on goal difference.

Since losing to Everton on the opening day of the season, Tottenham has only suffered one defeat in 15 games in all competitions. An uncharacteristic Europa League loss to Antwerp on Matchday 2 temporarily halted Spurs’ momentum, but they have since bounced back with a series of wins.

Not only are Mourinho’s men the second-highest scorers in the EPL, but they also boast the best defensive record in the division. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been unstoppable in attack, while the backline has kept four clean sheets in the last seven outings.

Mourinho is likely to rest a number of key players on Thursday, although I’m still expecting the manager to field a strong line-up. Spurs boast strength in depth in every area now, making them a genuine Europa League contender.

Meanwhile, Ludogorets has been almost unstoppable in the Bulgarian top-flight this season, losing just one of their 11 domestic matches. But on the European stage, it has been a completely different story.

The Eagles kicked off their Europa League campaign with a defeat to Antwerp before losing to LASK on Matchday 2. To make matters worse, the Razgrad outfit was beaten 3-1 by Tottenham at the beginning of November.

Having failed to pick up a single point in Europe this term, I can’t see Stanislav Genchev’s men causing Spurs any problems on Thursday. Even if Mourinho does name a weakened starting eleven, Ludogorets is still going to find it extremely difficult to compete.

The Eagles struggled on home soil against Tottenham, so when they visit England, they are likely to find it even more difficult to avoid defeat.

Of course, these odds are nothing to get too excited about. But if you’re looking for a safe Europa League bet this week, look no further than Tottenham.
