Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City – English Premier League, December 20, 2020
Both these clubs lost to Merseyside opponents in the week and derailed what had been looking like decent attempts to break into the bracket of serious title contenders this year.
Leicester had already lost a few games, but it was the first defeat since the opening day of the season for the Spurs – and both managers will be expecting three points to cheer up everyone at their respective clubs.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City Odds
Spurs might have lost to Liverpool in the week, but it was only that result that knocked it off the top of the league. So I am a little surprised that the home side is not odds on to win this one. Leicester is a very good team, but the price for a home win looks to be the best value here.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City Match Preview
Jose Mourinho thought that the best team had lost on Wednesday, as his Spurs side fell to a last-minute header by Roberto Firmino to hand Liverpool the points. That might not be completely correct, but the closeness of the game suggested that Tottenham may be able to challenge for the title this season.
Leicester will be looking to be part of that race for the top as well, but Spurs seems to be better positioned at the moment – and has had the good fortune of both Harry Kane and Heung-min Son staying fit and healthy. That is crucial if Spurs is to do well here – and for the rest of the campaign.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers knows all about injuries. He is only beginning to welcome back some of his most important defensive and midfield players – and their absence has played a big part in Leicester’s relatively poor form over the last few weeks.
Rodgers was glad to have Wilfred Ndidi back for the home defeat to Everton in the week – but not so happy to have to play him in central defense, rather than his preferred midfield position. There may be better news about Timothy Castagne’s return for this game, so the Foxes could really push the home side on Sunday.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City Prediction and Pick
Tottenham Hotspur to Win+100
I have no doubt that Leicester will give Spurs a really good game this weekend – and if Jamie Vardy is given any kind of a chance by the home defenders, he will probably get on the scoresheet too. But Spurs have two very good goalscorers of their own – and I think it will be that factor that wins all three points.
