Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leeds United – EPL, January 2, 2020
Jose Mourinho was not happy with the late postponement of Tottenham’s game against Fulham on Wednesday. But he will now have to raise his team to take on Leeds at the weekend.
Spurs have not been on a good run of form towards the end of 2020 and would count a win over Leeds as a very good way to see in the new year.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leeds United Odds
Tottenham hasn’t won a game in the last four attempts so, as much as I understand why BetOnline has made the home side favorite here, I think there is too much daylight between these prices. I would be more confident of backing Leeds to come away with a draw – or maybe all three points.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leeds United Match Preview
Three points from a home game against a struggling Fulham team would have been a big positive for Spurs to draw 2020 to a close. But the calling off of that game has left the London club down in seventh. That’s quite a fall from the place at the top of the league it was enjoying just over two weeks ago.
The loss to Liverpool was a big psychological blow, but Spurs had already drawn with Chelsea and Palace in the weeks before. There have been some very disappointing results since – and now Mourinho seems to be criticizing individual players even more. That is usually a sign that all is not well.
Leeds – and its fans – could not be more enamored of its manager, however. Marcelo Bielsa has brought an exciting style of soccer to the club, and – although it has not always worked to perfection – the season should be considered a success at the current time.
The 5-0 thrashing of a woeful West Brom was a great way to round off 2020 – and now the Yorkshire club can start working out how to concede fewer goals while still persevering with the attacking brand of soccer enjoyed at Elland Road. There are a few injury worries for Leeds here, but confidence will be through the roof.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leeds United Betting Pick
It will be interesting to see how Spurs sets out for this one. If Mourinho tries to sit deep and defend, it might play into the hands of Bielsa’s tactics. This could end up being a fairly tight affair with a need for one of the few chances to be taken by either team. A well-fought out draw may be the final result.
