Tottenham Hotspur vs. Everton Betting Preview – EPL, September 13, 2020
A new look Everton travels to north London to take on Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday as the owners have trusted Carlo Ancelotti to transform the Toffees into a competitive side again.
Jose Mourinho will be starting his first season as Spurs boss and it will be interesting to see if his tactical ideas have taken hold at the club now.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Everton Odds
MyBookie obviously believes that, with a fully fit team, Spurs will be a major force in the Premier League and push for a Champions League spot again. There is less trust in Everton’s new arrivals – but I think that this could be more even than the odds suggest. The draw bet might be worth investigating.
It was a disappointing season for Spurs last term, coming off the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool. Injuries played their part and if Harry Kane and Son Heung-min can remain fit and ever present then there should be more celebrations in this part of north London this year.
Poaching Matt Doherty from Wolves should strengthen the Tottenham defense but there has been a curious lack of transfer activity at the club. Mourinho looks like he is ready to trust in the squad he already has to get the results needed. This could be a big season for players such as Dele Alli.
Speaking of big seasons. Everton has gone all in on competing this year by having one of the busiest and headline-grabbing offseasons. Allan and Doucoure have been brought in from Napoli and Watford respectively. But it is the arrival of James Rodriguez from Real Madrid that has got everyone at Goodison Park excited.
It is a bold move from Ancelotti to put his trust in a player that has not been playing to his potential in the last few seasons on loan at Bayern Munich. But if the Colombian can recapture some of the form he showed around the time of the 2018 World Cup then Everton could surprise a few people this season.
My Prediction and Pick
I’m hoping that Everton’s new players have bedded in quickly and will really test the Spurs defense on Sunday.
Tottenham has some very good attackers of its own of course, so there is a good chance that this one could end up being a high-scoring draw. It would certainly be a great way to start off the new Premier League season.
