Tottenham Hotspur vs. Burnley – EPL, February 28, 2021

A comfortable win in the Europa League in the week should not make Spurs believe everything is going well a the moment. It has only beaten one team outside the bottom three in 2021, and European soccer next season looks increasingly unlikely now.

Burnley at home should be a fixture that Tottenham is looking forward to, but the Clarets have improved recently and never really offer opponents an easy game. This could be closer than some people are expecting.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Burnley Odds

Burnley to Win+510

I do think that this might be a close game, but the odds from BetOnline are still just about right. As hard as Burnley might make it for the home side, Spurs should still end up winning, so the price for a home win looks correct. The odds for the other two options just aren’t big enough to tempt a closer look.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Burnley Match Preview

Spurs were well beaten by West Ham at the weekend and have now only taken three points from the last 18 on offer in the EPL. That form has seen the north London club fall out of a Europa League spot and completely lose touch with the clubs battling for the top five now.

With the players that Jose Mourinho has to call on, another surge cannot be discounted. But he is also looking to behave in a familiar way that puts down some of the members of the squad in a personal manner – and that has proved to be a mistake in the past for the Portuguese coach.

Mourinho certainly doesn’t seem to have the same level of respect from his players as Sean Dyche receives from the Burnley squad. The Clarets may not be as talented man for man, but they will put up a good fight on Sunday. Burnley is unbeaten in four games now and will look to restrict the home side once again this weekend.

Three of the last four games have been drawn, with Burnley only scoring more than one goal against a very poor Crystal Palace a couple of weeks ago. Part of the reason for that is the continued absence of Chris Wood upfront – and the New Zealander will probably miss out on this game too. That would place even greater importance on a strong defensive performance.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Burnley Betting Pick

  • Tottenham Hotspur to Win

Tottenham has looked anything but a top-four side in the last month and only has a win against a woeful West Brom to show for its efforts in the Premier League. I don’t think that Jose Mourinho will be able to inspire a comeback that ends in European qualification this season – but a win over Burnley on Sunday should be just about achievable.
